Is it me...or is he so good at calling that even the calls he's trying to mess up sound awesome? Just got a Microgoose SS...daggone if I can get half of the sound he does effortlessly...much respect, Mr. Stahl.
I accidentlg took my call apart and i was worried i couldn't make it sound as good as it was before but this video helped me make it sound better!thanks!
Truth! If you cant tune a short reed and make it work for your calling style then your sunk. No matter what call I picked up right out of the box, I could never get the sounds I wanted until I took the guts out played with them until I got the sound I was looking for. Prop's to Shawn for showing the process for tuning a short reed.
Its probably because your reed is in the troff, you kinda want to kinda pop the reed when this happens. So put your thumb on the reed and press the whole assembly into the call make sure your reed stays in the trof and doesn't have any play. Turn the call around and blow the hell out of it untill air goes through the call and the reed releases then turn it around and it will blow. However you might have to repeat like the video to get the correct tones. But if you set the read this way when you put it into the call you will wear out the correct parts to break in the guts.
