When Cheeka said Klrahul can comeback from injury directly into the team but Iyer cant, Ani said same yardstick should apply to KLR and Iyer. Frankly, I was with Ani at that point. So far Klr and Iyer have proved what Cheeka expected. Still half the tournament left, will have to see

This is a pitch imported directly from hell.What an extraordinary pressure it put into the batters.Rohit was almost exhausted nearing 90s. Another day, another pitch, he would have crossed 100 easily. Needless to say, batters nightmare story overall. Only Rohit,Rahul and Sky passed this test with flying colors in batting department.

This is where we went wrong in the 2015 and 2019 ODI WC and Last year's T20 World cup. By the current form and rhythm, we need Hardik to replace Shreyas and Ashwin to replace Siraj (This mainly due the pitches are worn out and need an intelligent bowler like him). It's purely my humble opinion!

Ben Stokes is an overrated cricketer. Can’t consider him as an all rounder as he doesn’t ball anymore. He is a good batsman particularly in test matches but not among greats that England ever produced and also not a modern day great.

Raina was still a fighter so he did bring something to the table like his fielding and he was instrumental along with yuvraj in that quarterfinal win against australia in 2011 WC and so to negate his shortcomings against short pitch bowling he did a lot to earn his place in the team .. not sure What Mr Iyer brings to the table at the moment.. or maybe not visible/ tangible to rest of us

@Ani Kohli haven’t struggled today . He middle almost all balls he played today in that 2 of cover drive 4 has been stopped by England excellent fielding short cover fielder. Because of that he lost his patience and played bad shot on down the track . Definitely he didn’t struggle on England attack . Even though Rohit Sharma standed out in his batting today in a bowling friendly wicket, Shami proved lethal with his ball with a great spell of 7 overs - 2 Maidens - 22 runs - 4 wickets - 3.14 economy. He deserved to share the player of the match award with Rohit but hard luck. Bumrah was equally lethal thrashing ENG batters. I liked that over of Shami to bowl out Stokes. The ENG had no clue to play those balls of Shami and Bumrah. Shreyas Iyer can be replaced by Hardik when he returns back or Ishan Kishen. Surprising to see why Ashwin wasn’t in the playing 11 in this spinning track. Can Ashwin replace Siraj in spinning tracks? Cheeka Sir told very well about Shardul and after 3 matches, he was rested in bench.

2 things I have always been commenting on.. Players like Shreyas cannot win matches and 4th spot is a very very critical position... Our incredibly long tail will always be an issue.. However good bowling may be, we were able to capitalize our small total only because of England's poor form with the bat. Otherwise it ll be different with NZ, SA and OZ. NZ and OZ has always been a problem for us in Semis and I think we have to face OZ in semis.. As we consider SA to be chockers, we are also not too different as we always chock in knock out games.. Bottom line - lets not get over joyed. While we are in right track all fingers crossed for Semis...

To be frank, virat was middling the ball perfectly but stokes failed to meet the ball with the bat which made him desperate to go for shots. And most of the indian batters were caught out whereas english batters where bowled out and leg befores. To be precise the english batsmen failed to read the pitch even after fielding for 50 overs whereas indian batsmen failed to time the ball. Except Rohit, KL and Surya.

Cheeka Sir has been on the money throughout notably on Team India. If Shreyas Iyer has to salvage this, he may get just one more game and needs a century. Wankhede is a big danger for India as they have only played in low scorers. We should win against SL. But the NZ vs SA match in PUne will decide many things. If NZ wins, then the two teams will both advance(more or less) and if India win against SL and Netherlands then they will head to Wankhede. Their opponent there could be any of the three teams, but likely NZ as you seem to imply. To play NZ in Wankhede will be difficult as it is a small ground. Australia will be even tougher. India has to plan for a Wankhede game against one of these three teams. Australia can beat Eng, Ban, Afghanistan and make it to Eden Gardens. NZ has a lot of left handers and the mauling of Kuldeep means that Ashwin might have to be considered for Wankhede assuming Pandya is fit and can bowl 5 overs at least. If SA wins(against NZ) and they beat India also then there is a chance that India will end up in Eden Gardens. This may be a 4 quicks ground and Siraj may have to come in and bowl well. Just as India defended 229, Netherlands defended 229 against Bangladesh in Eden Gardens. India has done well in bowler friendly pitches. We have to see how well we do in Wankhede and how we do when forced to bat first on a belter against a good attack. I believe that both Australia and SA would be very tough to beat in Wankhede and we have to have a very good bowling and fielding effort if we are to survive that. All in all, I do think the Semis in Wankhede would be a lot tougher while Eden Gardens and Ahmedabad would be easier. A look in for Ashwin is very important keeping Wankhede in mind.
