Road Closed madness continues - Dyers Pass Road - CLOSED

Christchurch, New Zealand, 10 August , 2023, from the Kiwi down to the Takahe, tepmerature, 8 celcius, this time its Higgins impeding our freedom of movement by having Dyers Pass Road from the Takahe onwards CLOSED all day ....for no f****** reason.
I would understand if Dyers Pass was a sheet of ice you couldn't even walk on, as I ve seen it many times over the years.... but, on 10 August the temperature was a high of 8 and a low of 2, physics dictates that no vehicle will slide off a road covered in a few centimeters of slush if its being operated sensibly, EVER, so why is the road our taxes pay for closed ALL DAY ?
North America, Europe and Russia don't "close" for winter conditions........

Same problem over Jacks Pass Hanmer, but road closed due to normal gravel grading, not even for fixing the snow and ice at the top, and on a freshies day for Hanmer Ski area!

It is a global problem in our developed countries: nobody is prepared to assume personal responsibility for their mistakes and lawmakers are not helping by forbidding lots of things that could be "unsafe". Think of all the high viz gear to be worn in ridiculous places.

This is correct, things are being selectively forbidden, we have a "war" on drugs that excludes alcohol and tobacco, we have roads closed for no reason, what's next, banning driving at night, or in the rain, or ban cars altogether, they are dangerous ...?

This is known as protective closure. That is where they close it to protect their arses in the event of an incident. Blame the PC society that has been propagated by shiny butts looking after themselves and their excuse is, “ If I know there could be an accident, and do not take ALL REASONABLE STEPS to avoid that incident, I will be held responsible for other peoples stupidity and careless driving during the adverse conditions”.

not as bad as the 92 snow you had I remumber seeing you in the square you said it's great I'm making a killing as no other Cameraman can get out then I got suck on Ferry rd & Radley?st cost me $50 to get pulled out ended working about 15 hours sat to make up 4 the loss of the fridays bake that was lso the weekend os Susan Scott Wedding

It's so nz transport don't spend money on snow plows and driver's...how many post's from this channel have we seen of road's with snow plowing going on that are perfectly safe that aren't open...you can't run a economy if everytime it snow's everything stop's!!.😡❤️🇳🇿

Thats the point there was NOT a problem, except to thousands of inconvenienced motorists who had to make huge detours on other roads in the same condition .... its winter !
