Track: Calling Me Back www.casey.live 🔺 Our Mission 🔺 Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, wildlife and environmental education, and the development of the Cedar Canyon Nature Park. _Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release_ The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal, but for those that cannot be released due to disabilities, the Cedar Canyon Nature Park (CCNP) can provide them with a permanent home in a natural setting while enhancing our visitors educational experience at the park. _Informing, Educating and Inspiring_ The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy. _Martin Tyner_ Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends. At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors. “One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.” Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator. He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years. “Grandpa believed in a very simple philosophy; that a person should get up every morning and do good. Doing good means that you do well for others and doing well means that you do good for yourself. There is nothing wrong with doing well, but Grandpa always believed in doing good.” Martin's book, Healer of Angels, reflects back on his life: from a young boy terrified of birds to becoming the first man in North America licensed to train a wild golden eagle in the ancient art of falconry. Through a heartwarming collection of true stories he describes his challenging transformation from a shy dyslexic teenager, to the founder and CEO of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation.

A roadrunner that got hit by a car... I actually do see the irony in that hehe :P Really beautiful animal BTW, good to see he fully recovered and is back to running roads again. Great job as usual from Martin. Just hope from now on he'll be a bit more careful out there!

I live in Arizona, and we have bird feeders in our backyard, that draws Cardinals, Cactus Wrens, 3 different kinds of woodpeckers, Thrashers, Sparrows, Finches, Mockingbirds, Quail, and many more etc. But over the past month, we have 1 or multiple roadrunners knocking on our sliding glass door as if they wanna come into our house. One was knocking on the glass door, while a 2nd one was laying flat, incognito in our rocks in backyard. I would have never noticed him/her if they didnt lift their head up. Was the most incredible thing Ive ever seen. Especially the one knocking on our sliding glass door. But then, we watched, stunned in amazement how the camouflage roadrunner leaped into the air and snatched a sparrow out of midair, all the while we had a large squirrel on top of our quail block eating, and the other roadrunner still at our door... Was like a scene out of winnie the pooh. Absolutely amazing

Man Roadrunners really do look like modern day raptors straight out of the Mesozoic
@sciencecompliance235
@sciencecompliance235 4 месяца назад
I saw a video of two roadrunners mating, and at first I thought it was some AI-modified video of some actual birds made to look more like dinosaurs. Although all birds are close relatives of the dromaeosaurs ("raptors"), some of the morphological features that we think look similar are unfortunately superficial and coincidental. For instance, the dromaeosaurs had a long, bony tail, whereas almost all of the roadrunner's apparent tail length is just feathers. The similar head shape is also somewhat of a coincidence since the dromaeosaurs would have had a snout and not a beak as birds do.
@Packless1

...because they ARE descendants of raptors...! 😉😁😱
@Voxen712
@Voxen712 4 месяца назад
@@sciencecompliance235 I like to see it a bit like convergent evolution! maybe just adaptations a bit different, like it has long feathers for balance instead of a bony tail for a more lightweight body. quite frankly I am really happy that a bird with proportions and silhouette so similar to theropods evolved at all, considering most other ground dwelling birds have wildly different body plans (ostrich, kiwi, cassowary etc.)

I hadn't either until I moved into my home with a small wild patch behind my back yard. Now I see them all of the time in my back yard. Although they don't exactly look like MBeep-Beep, it's a good caricature so with just that, the first time I saw one, and saw it walking along the top of my fence, I knew exactly what it was!

They are stunning to witness when it happens. I was a traveling service man for Sears in the early 2000s in southern Missouri, into Arkansas and occasionally, a road runner would dart across the back highways in front of me - it was surprising and felt like a look back into nearly prehistoric eras. They are quite amazing.

Though this roadrunner did look cute, the first time I saw one in the wild, in California's Coachella Valley, it struck me that this critter is a raptor that has changed very little since the time of the dinosaurs. They have the eyes and move like a dedicated killer. I don't know much about their evolution or their social groupings but I got the sense of a very primitive and solitary critter. Thanks for all that you do for the critters who come to your door.

Beep beep..He must get well, after all he's got to keep harassing, teasing and running from the coyote.. LOL.. Poor roadrunner. He's in good hands..

I really enjoyed watching this video. Roadrunners are one of my favorite birds having lived in the SW most of my life in New Mexico and Southern California. Didn't realize they were as far north as Utah though. Thanks for what you do.

I used to have road runners in my neighborhood until they bulldozed the woods across the street to build houses. Those woods were a crows roost too. I miss them all 😢. The caws sunrise and sunset were spectacular and hilarious!

About fifteen years ago, we had a roadrunner on the roof of our home making mating calls. Later he flew down and got got with about 15-20 feet from him. He didn’t act scared of us. We lived in southwestern Missouri. They used to be plentiful there but haven’t seen one for years.
