Man! when I was a kid I used to watch Saturday morning cartoons then after that I'd watch Motor week on pbs. When that was over it was a bitter sweet signal to play outside and ride bikes. those were some awesome times.
Hennessy HPE800 is the fast Escalade to get. Callaway added a supercharger, exhaust and wheels and pretty much called it a day. Meanwhile Hennessey added forged pistons, connecting rods/ARP bolts, new blueprinted aluminum block, ported heads, competition valves and headers. HPE800 hit's 0-60 in 3.9 seconds an is 120+ mph in the 1/4 mile.
They gotta be a lot faster than this considering a bone stock yukon denali xl can do 0-60 in 5.8s and a regular escalade does 5.6s when fitted with 8-spd autos.
115k today, and it'll be worth 22k next year. I don't understand why anyone would buy a vehicle that loses 70% of its value overnight. Then again, people buying new Escalades probably have more money than sense.
For 74K that thing should at least have the brake setup from the CTS-V.. Its pathetic 2 pot inexpensive calipers WTF? If a freaking Tacoma can have 4 Pot Calipers in the front this thing can have a 6Pot & 4Pot Setup for sure costing 2 times more. Its sad even Callaway didn´t think about it.. 2 Pots on a 115K 2.5Ton Vehicle? Get the fuck out of here!
Jesus Christ I feel sorry for the people that have to be passengers in this race car lol usually there's corvettes for speed freaks I wouldn't get this option simply because I'm not trying to scare my passengers I would be more then happy to buy the 420 hp option
im surprised hes still alive he was early to late 30s in the late 70s early 80s and in his fortys/50s in the late 80s early 90s ...... jesus @the guy talking lol
@Motorweek This thing has GOTTA be faster than your numbers suggest. The stock ESV runs to 60 below 6 seconds; lighter SWB is even faster! One other thing: I noticed this appears to be RWD only. So that certainly appears to have an affect on ability to get power down to the ground w/o AWD. Still, the ESV remains in a class all it's own until we see what Lincoln has cooking up with the new Navigator.
Yo John, this baby has a HUGE presence no matter the surroundings. As for this beast, no way - just can't justify it's existence, not when there's a Callaway Vette, somewhere close by (on the 'showroom' floor)
According to Car And Driver a stock Escalade has a 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds. And 6 seconds seems to be about average for all reviewers for current gen escalades. Why is this one with 140 extra HP and 100+ extra TQ slower than a stock one?
R Parrott That's actually the ONLY flaw and issue I have with the Escalade. I'd go aftermarket and fix GM's mistake. Elite Sunroofs ATL did one with a Yukon and it was perfect!
Big engine - and can't get to 60 faster than a 4cyl supercharged and turbocharged Volvo XC90? AND the XC gets better mileage AND it actually looks cool and not boxy clunky? I'm in the XC corner. Plus I own one -- I'd put it up against this land yacht gas guzzler any day.
The price for this vehicle is not worth the bling factor you are getting. $115k (not including what you need to shell out to keep this gas guzzler moving)? One word...Laughable. The Tesla Model X or S would be more compelling for the same price. I would hardly consider any Escalade "high performance," including the SC560. Clearly the dimensions/weight of it yield a yawn-inspiring 0-60 of 6 seconds. For the same price or at most $10k more, you could get a slick Model S or X which does a 0-60 in HALF THE TIME. I'm sorry John, there are other better choices than this Escalade or a Prius. Show less
Hennessey makes a 1000 HP kit for these, that's the route I'd go but I'd rather have a Cayenne turbo modded out for my larger SUV needs and yes, I know the Escalade is a HUGE 3 row but honestly, how many people do you see with 4 people in them let alone 7. I usually see a petite single woman driving them.
this car is too expensive for what it offers...ok it looks nince on the outside...but the interior...soo many loose stuff...also...can you imagine that a 30 k toyota car has a far superior bc than this huge car...amazing...the americans still need the learn european finece....you are on a good path tho :))
