I have had my 2018 Equinox LT with the 1.5 for 3 months now. I love it. Has enough power for my everyday driving. Getting 29.5 mpg. Quiet and comfortable. Paid $22,500.
I always have to chuckle when they do the "0-60" test. I've been driving for 50 years and can't ever remember a time when it was imperative I get from a dead stop to 60 as fast as I possibly could. LOL If you want to do something meaningful, go from 30-60 to simulate coming up to speed getting on the freeway.
I rented this crossover in the baseline trim for a few days and liked how you sat up high and seating was comfortable and felt bigger than it looks. However the major setback was the very week engine power, either from a dead stop or the passing power at high speeds which it did not have a all. The transmission was changing gears constantly when going uphill trying to stay at 55 mph. Maybe ok for city traffic but not recommended for rural hilly roads.
Christopher Hammond the good news is you can wait 2-3 years and buy it used for 1/2 the price. GM resale works in your favour. I think it's an ok car. I've driven a 2012 V6 and it had a smooth ride.
I sat in one while getting an oil change on my 2008 Impala and it seemed very nice. I'm not a fan of Ford and GMs obsession with turbo engines. The turbos are something expensive to go later in the cars life.
We took the turbo diesel out for a test ride. It was love at first highway on ramp. The 1.6TD engine, is peppy and sips fuel to the tune of 38 MPG in mixed driving. 40 MPG on the highway with three people on-board. I think it looks good, handles extremely well, and did I mention fuel economy! This vehicle is a winner in my book.
I have a 2021 model, for 2021 they have just the 1.5 liter four banger in all trim levels. It gets great fuel economy . Ive been averaging 30 mpg in the city, 36 highway. I like the way how they did the interior led lighting in it. And ac vents in the back with usb charging ports in the front and back.
I had a 2013 Ford Escape AWD... Loved it until the #4 cylinder lost compression last month. Just replaced with a 2018 Equinox AWD, because they were less expensive than similarly equipped Escapes... We shall see, but I think this Equinox will meet my needs beautifully.
I just traded in my 2018 equinox for a 2021 terrain. This equinox was ok. Had 53000 miles on it and never had a issue. But it did lack a lot of horsepower and the road noise was average at best. On the interstate I had to turn my radio to the max to hear anything .. and the auto shut off is so obvious and wonky.
My girlfriend and I sat in this vehicle and notice the difference in space. It was not as roomy inside we would have liked. I prefer the the 2016 instead. Bigger engine and very spacious.
I'm disappointed that the brake lights are doubling as turn signals, yet there is a perfect space for amber bulbs that are empty. The Cruze sedan is the same way, but the hatch has them.
TheMowgli420 it’s because most of American doesn’t like them (amber lights) that’s the reason only the hatch have them, mostly European influenced people buy that kind of cars
I had that 1.5T in a rental 2018 Malibu, was not a fan. Power was not linear, enough, or timely. Bigger displacement engines with turbos/superchargers is what I’d rather have. The MPG was less than my Altima 2.5
These are what station wagons of the 1970's have morphed into. On another note, I see that GM has brought back that shade of burnt orange from the early 2000's.
I had 2014 equinix for 4 years and jumped to this 2018 and i love it! Turbo gives that little push u need in certain ocasion and it doest leave u wanting more, for the city anyway, i wanna take it on a trip maybe 4 5hrs one see how it behaves 😁 tho i have stepped on it on the highway at 90- 100mph and it doest goes side ways like the Honda Brv that truck SUCKSS!!! Starts going sideways at 70- 80mph 🤮🤮🤮 tho the new 2022 looks nice but it sucks, i hope i can jump to 2024 equinox if they bring one out at the end of this year :) would love it to be my first brand new truck 0miles 🙉🙉 oh btw i hate the Auto Stop thingy, the 18 doest have an off button for that crap.
The dash looks plasticky. There was one shot where the infotainment screen reflection is enough to give you a cataract if it hits you. Exterior is ok at best.
Only problem with that backlash, is that almost every automaker is going in that direction. CAFE standards are a bitch, especially when buyers keep buying trucks and larger SUV's. These types of vehicles pay the price, for the production of what's selling.
When will u guys just be honest and just say things are just over priced peices of plaatic that get recalled and break when tje warrantys up. What happened to quality.
And the Honda CR-V and Toyota Rav 4 isn’t full of plastic. Boy you are a special kind of stupid. Who goes around feeling up the dash anyway...Get a life.
Anthony Molina yeah I like Toyota’s and Subaru’s they’re very reliable. But I like Mazda CX-5 better, it’s affordable and it’s more modern then the rav4 or forester.
I rather drive a 2004 Chevy Tracker any day then that mess. The Equinox really came from and replaced the Chevy Geo Tracker before it was discontinued. They were true SUVs back in the day.
Got burnt by my 2011 V6 Equinox and is sucks...the acceleration is terrible and I just can't buy any more GM vehicles....I wish I can go back and get my 2004 GMC Envoy..the only GM car I really loved
I own one and it doesn't have any pickup! I'm always last in a group of cars, but I bought it for the MPG, room and seating position. I like it and very happy I bought it.
1.5L I4 in this is making 30 more HP than the 5.0L V8 in 1980s cars. the powertrains aren't weak, at all, people just want everything to be a race car.
Everybody has week 4 cylinder turbos now.. I despise it I would rather have the 3.6 liter v6. but that's just the way it's going to be so we have to deal with it
Yippie The only crossover I would get is the jeep renegade or cx5 bc of the high comp efficiency. Mazda quality does have me a bit worried tho. Kia is making the Niro soon.
garrett murray Do you mean like the Stingray, the Camaro or possibly the Cadillacs? If you are simply a Ford or Dodge fanboy, then save your childish slander. You don’t know what your talking about. As was stated, the Equinox is Chevy’s second best selling vehicle.
It unfortunately takes a lot from the current Malibu and I'm definitely not a fan. Both are ugly, feel cheaper than they should, overpriced, and underpowered. Definitely would recommend the two liter over the other options. GM just missed the mark.
