Since you've watched the movie I hope you two watched the Shippuden movie in which Naruto & Hinata got together beforehand as massive spoilers lol. Plus it's just good. I went with my partner at the time to the Cinema to watch it on it's release, when they finally kissed the entire room cheered.

Those rich details you're describing are all missed in the games. If you just go by the games and the cut scenes, you're really only watching a fraction of the show and are missing so much context and critical details. Not just story wise, but also fight wise. Every time you fight someone in the game, that entire section is cut out from the story to replace it with your game play fight. If all you have is that, you may as well just rewatch all of the shows, cause unfortunately there is so much missing there and you're cutting yourself short of amazing content.

Most of the fights in the game are better in the game, but the story parts, yea u gotta watch the anime, for example jiraiyas death is more tragic in the anime cause u know more about him and they show his past and stuff
