People fleeing Vietnam after the war is a very nuanced subject. Vietnam was a very poor country after the war, and the quality of life of the people after the war was reduced significantly, especially in the South, and it didn't help that America maintained its embargo on the country. Communist economy just straight up did not work, and a lot of people fled because of economic hardship. A lot of young men would go to sea by boat hoping to reach America and become the sponsor for their wife and family later. In fact, the phrase "searching for freedom" is something that people who fled the country taught each other, because you may not be accepted as a refugee for fleeing economic hardship (my uncle is also one of the people who left the country this way). I'd say Taiga's father left around the 80s, so that is very likely to be the case. Those who made it unquestionably gave their family a better life, economically at least, those who didn't make it, well, it is what it is.

It's nice that you can actually see how dynamic and vibrant their relationships are with each other. When Taiga said that he reflects a lot of his personality to his belief, it's actually quite surprising and amazing to see especially for gamers like him in the pro scene. Please keep him as much as you can, OG, i know rosters always change but it's seldom to see players like these who don't just get their drive to win out of money but also through their principles. 👏👏

She once covered the mouth of my uncle with cloth (was newly born then, and was crying), because the Japanese troops might see and kill them. I've been an OG fan after watching the cinderella run in TI8 and I have so much respect not only to the players but much more to the values and ideals that the organization entails. It's rare to witness such genuine love and camaraderie in esports and I truly believe that these values are what makes OG truly special. I sincerely thank you for having this amazing series, "The Road to The International" because not only we get a chance to know the players more but it also gives so much inspiration to alot of people in some ways. I've been watching True Sight since TI8 and in my honest and humble opinion, these are better. Not only you can feel that warm and heartfelt emotion in every scene but you can feel the genuine love that these players have not only for the game but towards their families as well. Tommy is the heart of this team. He makes the clutch plays when they count the most, takes up the interviews for his shy teammates, is always the positive one in the team, and even adjusts into pos 5 for whenever there are standins.

Yeah he is the brace to this team. He has to do so much adjustment behind the scene because their pos 5 acts like pos 3-4. He is quite underrated, I don't think anyone can replace his role.

What i like about him is his energy as well. You'll always see him smiling. He's not shy with his feeling after a lost and as a team mate you don't have to be fearful of the negative energy creeping in having him as a team mate. I believe the reason why they did so well was because of ceb as well. Ceb and taiga feed off each other's energy

I see many qualities in common with some of the all time greats, and some that are uniquely awesome to Taiga. Always building up his teammates, guiding them with positivity and encouragement, it's just something you cannot teach to a player--it has to be a core part of them, like it is with Taiga. I'm sure every one of us wants to make our parents proud. his father may have said something "I think he did a good job" but we all know thats not even the tip of how he feels proud of taiga's dedication and achievements. Wow. It reminded me a lot of my dad's story. He left Romania to go to Italy and look for a better life. I still remember the day he left, 3 years later he came back to take us there with him. My story is certainly different. But I can understand what it means to be a father and do everything for your family. Taiga wish you the best in this TI. I've been a small OG fan for many years, but after this video I think I've become a fan of yours.

Crazy how a war takes your parents to different parts of the world. My father was a Vietnamese refugee as well and he got lucky by going for a swim in the bay around 4am in the morning and he was taken by American soldiers escorting vips out of Vietnam. They only took him out of fear of him opening his mouth lol but this changed the future for my family significantly. Good luck Tommy! Represent your family, OG and Vietnam at TI!

There are few spelling mistakes in the captioned sections. I noticed three instances of apostrophes that should not be there. 4:35, 6:25, and 7:03. I also noticed the exact same sound bite about Taiga lifting the Aegis was used twice. Other than that, a very well made video, providing good insight into Tommy's life and family background, with some impressive scenic shots of his home town of Bergen, Norway.
