Road Trip! PA & Boston Riding!

I stopped on my way to Boston to ride and camp in Pennsylvania. I camped at Lackawanna State Park and set up camp before heading to the D&H Trail and the O&W Trails. After riding the rail trails I headed to Scranton, PA for some craft beer and dinner at Mutant Brewing. Then it was back to the park to camp before heading to Boston and hoping on my bicycle for a city ride!

Thanks! I use GoPros but I believe certain settings and a little post-production go a long way in getting better looking images out of them.

Nice video. I have hundreds of miles logged between the D&H and the O&W as I live fairly close to them. I just did a 33 miler yesterday from Jessup to Forest City and back. You can put together some nice long rides using both trails.

I can recommend the Lower (pronounced "Lauer") near Alexandria, PA. Great gravel trail along a river with tall rock formations and an ice cream stand at the end. It makes every business trip a pleasure to take your bike along and discover the hidden beauty of the local bike trails along the way. The exercise of riding clears the mind and helps with business too!

For anyone doing the D&H, definitely drive over to Honesdale (20 min away). This is a very cool small town with some good microbreweries and a must visit restaurant called Native

I’m so jealous of these trails with the green and the history and the railroad history especially. Love to learn about things when I travel places, this feels like a great relatable ride. I’m also so ready to move back east after 15 years out in the empty west.

Everyone's 401K retirement went up by 50% from 4 years ago too. And if you don't count the COVID crash, it still went up by >25%. Enjoy your riding Tim. Be advised in the Boston area, they allow cars to use the shoulder during rush hour. I'm a 30 year trucker and a cyclist.....Be safe!

I felt way safer on my bike than in my car in Boston - the infrastructure is great now. I've been there a number of times now to work and visit my friends - the driving is nuts!

Grew up in PA. I wish I did more of these rail trails. Used to road ride to work. People were so aggressive. Throwing things at me. Honking etc. such a big diff riding in the Bay Area compared to back home in PA. Maybe it’s changed though.

That was the whole thing - a week before I didn't know what day I was going to leave, the night before I didn't know what time I was going to leave. I didn't reach out to anyone(except Eric in Boston) the whole trip because I didn't know exactly where I would be anywhere or when I would be free. My original plan was to do more and be gone longer and this would have helped - but when the trip got moved last minute I needed to be on my own schedule entirely.

With the first iteration of my ebike, I had a 'pusher bike' tow-along. But some inclines required me to dismount, and walk whilst using the epower to get rig and passenger up.

Hey Tim, next time you spin through eastern PA you should plan a ride from Easton PA to Washington's Crossing on the D&L. This trail has everything you can ask for history, cool towns and breweries.

Nice video, thanks! I love rail trails. Some other short ones in PA are the Connocton and Panhandle Trails near PGH. As for politics, I'm definitely better off than four years ago and I'm retired. I was in NW Ohio farm country recently and in someone's front yard was a huge flag that said, "F#CK Biden". Now, I was born in Mississippi, raised in blue collar Philly, 40 years in SoCal, and now live in a purple section of Colorado; and I cannot understand how a flag with "F#CK" in a person's yard is "Conservative". Back in the 1960's, when I was growing up, neighbors would be knocking on that door with the police. It is not conservative any longer, it is the party of one narcissist, racist person. There, I said it for you. ☮

I've been driving I-84 a lot lately, this is really news I can use, thanks! I didn't realize there was rail trail riding so close to Scranton. Even on a bad day Interstate Airlines is better than flying.

Yeah - airlines are completely unreliable now. It looks like it would be doable to connect this to Scranton with other bits of trails. Definitely do some research on that. I just ran out of time and went for the safe bet in Carbondale.

I've been through Frostburg - isn't it on the GAP? Some videos are all music with no commentary. This video is a vlog. I will continue to maker all kinds based on what I feel the vid needs or just what I am in the mood for.

Enjoyed the video. I’m definitely better off than I was four years ago. I work less, my income is higher, ride n wrench more and live in a neighborhood where people don’t lock their doors. By the way my views are neither democratic, conservative, liberal or republican.
