I came to Indian from HD a few years ago and haven't looked back. My Challenger is configured like the Pursuit having the hard lowers (with driving lights) and the tour pack. I will wear this bike out and then get a Pursuit. Just using all the points you mentioned. Thank you for the review, aside from the weather I am super jealous of a trip like this!

When you said there was nothing you would change on the bike from oem, is exactly why I ride a 2019 Roadmaster. I paid over 31K for my bike but it needed nothing and still running perfect in 2023 and over 30k miles later.

Last week we had our yearly poker run for Darke County, OH cancer. A new rider to this event had a beautiful 2022 Challenger Icon. He could not give out enought superlitives about his bike. He especially went on about what a great suspension it had and showed me his inverted front forks. Looking at them I told him I had the same on my bike and he looked baffled. Then I pointed to my 2014 Victory Cross Country 75 feet away. Then I told him of some Victory DNA that went into the Challenger/Pursuit lines. Speaking of Goldwings, a gentleman 5 miles down the road from me is the lead technician for a Honda Powersports dealership. What did he buy last summer. A beautiful black Indian Pursuit.

If any bike could tempt me to trade in my Goldwing DCT it would be the Indian Pursuit. It's not quite tempting enough for me, but it does come close!
@RoadReality
@RoadReality Год назад
Man, that was a FANTASTIC way to try out that bike! I'd love to go test ride an Indian, but there's no dealer that's close enough to me for my liking. [it seems like I always get the "problem vehicle", and having a dealer or reputable shop close by that can fix it is key for me] I like the looks and functionality of it, though. My only issue with your review is the idling - having owned my Street Glide Special for over 3 years now, I've done a lot of different riding on it - and if it's 40F out, I have no problem letting it idle while I use heated gear to warm up. If the engine gets warm enough, EITMS will kick on, and at that point, I'd probably want to get moving... but even an hour in 110F stop-and-go traffic didn't overheat the bike, so I doubt idling at 40F would.
@GearsGadgets
@GearsGadgets Год назад
That's pretty incredible, My Heritage has gotten so hot here in Phoenix that not only did EITMS kick in, but it also retarded it so much that it felt I was riding a moped until it got air moving over it again. I def could see in 40 degree temps the motor being able to idle for a while, but the point I was trying to make was that I could have been trapped under that overpass for MANY hours if the snow kept falling before someone got to me. I don't know if any air-cooled Harley would have been able to run heated gear that long without me being in serious trouble.
@RoadReality
@RoadReality Год назад
@@GearsGadgets So, come to think of it, I DO have mid-frame deflectors and the rear cylinder fan, which can make a big difference I guess? And yeah, if you're sitting there for hours, that's a "start the bike and let it idle a little while, get the gear hot and then shut it off" situation! I'm glad you didn't have to wait long, either way. Oh, and also also, my 2016 Vaquero would COOK in the heat - AND it was liquid-cooled! That thing would creep way up in the temp gauge, scary stuff! According to my research, it wouldn't ACTUALLY overheat, but it got into the red area of the gauge with the stock tune, it was a known thing. Still cooked me more than my Harley ever has.

I’m a Harley guy I currently owe a 2021 street glide and had a softail slim , by test riding a few Indians I noticed that Indian are becoming more comfortable bikes for long rides ! That particular paint/finish is the best looking Indian with the new engine I've seen. Hell, the best looking touring bike I've seen period. I'm not a big fan of bikes with fixed lowers precisely because of the heat they tend to trap, vents open or not. Particularly getting caught in traffic. Crazy expensive, but what's not anymore? At least it comes ready to ride w/o a lot of mods needed as you say. You know if that top box can be popped off/on easily? HD requires an extra kit to do that.

Nice bike. But I am going to order a new CVO Tri Glide. New suspension new VVT engine new infotainment and all new lighting. Plus the 121 will be great to have. Just got back from Tucson after spending a couple weeks riding with my brother and his wife. The Mrs enjoyed the riding and the area we rode in as much as I did. Good video but you know it’s HD for me. Take care Papa&Luvy

Harley does come with Twin cool and rear cylinder deactivations. Long as the temp stays below 290 it will keep cooling and idle and if it went above it will deactivate the rear cylinder. You can’t do that on the cheap below 15k Harley but not the high end ones that goes above 29k.

to be fair, you can do that on a dual cooled Harley. A road glide ultra, tri-glide or street glide limited can idle for a long time without getting too hot. Totally agree with weight distribution comments and suspension things. But I wouldn't classify Indian as an "American V-twin" its a Canadian company. but great bike.

Harley has a LONG way to go to catch up with Indian. I predict HD will go to liquid cooled DOHC engines, adopt adjustable windscreens, and install premium suspension on all their touring bikes, for starters. They'll charge an exorbitant price and screw it up because that's what they do. The buyer will have to spend thousands fixing it like they did with the M8. Indian is perfectly poised to overtake the touring market from HD and Honda. HD hardliners like me are fed up with their overpriced dinosaurs. Indian is the obvious answer.

I’ve been riding a roadmaster for 5 years hands down the most comfortable bike I’ve ever rode minus the seat, be it goldwings Harley’s Hondas Yamahas whatever. The challenger/pursuit line is interesting. My question is what about the heat from the radiator. I had a Valkyrie that was so hot from the radiator that I couldn’t stand to ride it in august. I have totaled my roadmaster and am currently looking for my new bike and may look at the challenger/pursuit line again.

I’m leaning away from Harley for my next touring bike. I just rode a 2023 RGL, and it’s improvement is pretty substantial over my 2012FLHTK, but not at $36,000 otd. I believe the Indian Pursuit is also in the same price range, maybe a little higher. Now I’ve ridden a new Goldwing Tour DCT and dollar for dollar, at $31, 000 otd, there isn’t a much better Touring Bike imo. Now the BMW 1600Bagger comes in less than the Indian, and Harley, but as nice as the Indian is, the new 2024 Goldwing with the new 2000cc motor, adaptive CC, and a rear mounted camera, with lane assist warning, is going to be hard to beat if they can somehow keep the price below $33k, otd.

Road glide limited owner here. I test rode a persuit with my wife on back. While it is nice, i prefer the Harley Davidson. She didn't like the indian very much, and it was the premium version. It really comes down to preference. Riding two up or solo. Riding style and how much and far you like to go. Aftermarket is very limited for the indian as well. And not many places carry the basic oil change kits for indian I can get everything i need from Walmart or auto parts for the HD. 😮

I love Indian and going with Indian is a solid choice. But if you are doing it because you too sensitive, it's absurd. I HATE this snowflake "Go woke, go broke" nonsense. It is just hypocritical rebranding fragile mindset that a decade ago was made fun of by anyone who was center, right of center, or far right. It's just a bunch of crybaby weak minded cancel culture nonsense. Motorcycles are about your fellow rider and the connection you have with each other, not corporate cancel culture because some marketing decision made you upset. Same thing goes for the overly sensitive bud light nonsense, everyone needs to get over themselves and get on with their lives. I am not saying you have agree or support a business that you disagree with, but to proudly embrace cancel culture because you are mad is unacceptable to me. Vote with your dollar, vote with your vote, everything else is just noise.
