When I see mauga and I'm playing as ANY role it genuinely makes me want to rage quit because I know I'm just gonna be pocketing my tank as support or targeting their supporters as a DPS for the whole game.
as support main, I'd feel depressed too because I'm forced to pocket Mauga all the way through out the game. I'm forced to play Ana, Kriko so he doesn't melt in an instant. When playing with other tanks, I'm a support. I do many things. Sometimes I secure kills, sometimes I flank. When playing with Mauga, I'm a healer. I heal. Mauga only.
I noticed how they have been doing this for a while… I’m a mercy main so I know how the mercy community can be vocal, so I bet they realized that the best way to “nerf” mercy (and it’s now happening to tanks) was to make other characters very strong against her or just make new supports stronger than her… it’ll eventually ruin the game
Honestly, the worst part is that Hog is still OP if you go against him as anything other than Mauga. It's really unfortunate that Mauga just shits on him, but going against Hog OR Mauga as any other tank is really miserable, to the point that if one of your supports doesn't go Ana, it's game over. Hog needs nerfs, and Mauga needs an absolute rework, which is just ridiculous considering how new he is. All three new heroes designed by the new char dev team have been atrocious releases.
@@penrilfake yeah I agree but what I meant my that is that we were complaining because Hog is busted but Blizzard solved the problem, they releases Mauga and all of a sudden we complain less about Hog
I honestly hate mauga rn, like u said, mirror mauga or lose, ive stopped playing comp because if im not mauga I get farmed and tank is just even more miserable to play rn
Mauga will and always has been my favorite tank type of design since 2019 when they first came out with talon heavy assault boss and his short story design, but when i play him, i dont get the same brain function i get when i play winston or rein. Like he's poorly designed and i wish he was like winston in a lot of ways, like just make mauga a good dive tank instead of a brawl. Dude likes to jump around and shit anyways😂
All they had to do was revert the ignite change before he went into competitive than change him later but they reverted the change which gives him more survivability because he needs to catch people on fire and then crit them for passive to take place that would have been fine but they gave him 100 additional armour and increase the passive conversion rate from 50% - 60%
I would also lower damage and give him more spread on both guns but if he becomes too weak I would keep the 250 armour so he can push up but don’t buff his passive
@@Four-Beat-DJhe doesn't need overall lower damage, there just needs to be penalties for firing both guns, as it's literally only better on tanks or POINT BLANK on squishy. They should reduce his spread for firing one gun to actually promote the way they want us to use his guns, and add a damage penalty or a rate of fire penalty for using both guns. Probably an ammo penalty too. Another thing they could do is actually sperate the damage between the two guns so the one that sets people on fire does less damage, and the one that crits has a better range falloff or something. Lots of options they could do.
@@mistameff3528 that’s on cardiac overdrive they made that change when mauga fully released on December 5th they increased conversion rate from 60% to 70% then they buffed his passive before he went into comp they buffed conversion rate from 50% to 60% (His passive is he gets healed when he gets crits so you catch them on fire then use other gun to crit or just fire both guns on tank and heal yourself) His ability Cardiac overdrive heals himself and his allies by dealing damage example if your a ally and your inside the circle and you deal damage to enemies you will heal yourself
He's fun in quickplay but not competitive. Like, if in quickplay genji can dashes 4 times, Lucio boost is on 3 sec cooldown, it would be 'fun'. But on the competitive play it's just unfair.
The new hero is vile and I kind of love him for me at least I’ll have games where he’ll dominate sure but also games where I annihilate him and the match
Didn’t Cyx say at some point he would main Mauga if Roadhog didn’t work out? This is probably not too surprising Also, 2 ways I believe they could fix Maui: 1. Remove around 50 to 75 of his armor 2. Make it so squishes take less time to ignite and tanks take more time, that way he isn’t as inclined to just shoot only tanks.
I think Reaper is better against Mauga than Bastion. Bastion has a meaty hit box that begs to be ignited and smoked. He can burn down a Mauga, but only in his turret form. Reaper has a smaller hit box and can self cleanse and ignite. He also heals himself as he attacks you. Problem is, most people don’t know how to play Reaper anymore. He hasn’t been meta for so long. Still, I think he’s a solid pick against Mauga.
Hot take: I don't think Mauga is necessarily boring. It's just the lack of variety this season. I think instead of nerfing they should buff the other tanks.
Mauga is good for the health of the game. Hear me out. He shows all the current game problems and answers three of the most abusive tanks. If the core game issues are answered we can nerf him and other tanks to stop it from being kill the tank win the game.
I wouldn't say he's healthy for the game if he just exemplifies all of the existing problems. Sounds like shit character design to me. I genuinely think that his whole problem is the fact that he is horribly designed to point where I think they did no testing of his abilities. How can you make a tank with so much life steal that can win every single 1v1 hell even 1v2s in the game but still need two specific, high healing supports to pocket him to actually survive a proper team fight.
@@loohoo2210 Not exemplifies, exposes. Anti-Heal has gone on far too long being a make or break of Roadhog and Mauga. Those two are as strong as they are because that one mechanic exists in the game. It makes it where you have TWO supports. Wanna play mercy? Too bad gotta play Ana. Want to play Lifeweaver? Too bad your other teammate is already Ana you gotta play Kiri. As long as that mechanic stays the way it is you can never not have at least one or the other on your team. Healing is also too high in general but that is as it is because damage output is too damn high and that causes tanks to have to be beefier and harder to kill it's all a domino effect and he exposes ALL of that. It's not Mauga you are upset with- it's the game and he's PLAYING the game. So in a way yes he is an example of all three problems but he's also the solution. You don't see overall change of the feel of the game until he steps on the scene and shakes it up.
@@Carikenja true honestly I agree with all of that but I do still think he needs a rework of his character. I think even if they brought down the healing and damage numbers as well as fix anti, he's still going to be a problem but not really a game breaking problem like he is now. The whole reason anti is used against him is because sometimes the only way to kill that mfer is to cut him off from his support pockets entirely. I think no matter what this guy is going to need constant babysitting even if anti is no longer a thing by both supps on his team because he's a fat walking target. I predict he's going to either be shit or too much after the next seasons changes but I really hope they give him some sort of overheat mechanic when firing both guns or give him a different weapon entirely. There's nothing fun about playing against a permanent turret form bastion that can set you on fire I genuinely don't know how people can find playing him fun.
@@loohoo2210 They are already nerfing him but I feel like that's a mistake- until they answer the fundamental quality of life of the game he is going to straddle that line like you said where he's either a god or garbage.
@@Carikenja Fr nerfing him isn't enough at this point some fundamental changes to the game need to happen to make him work. Hopefully they do it but who knows
There’s almost no point in adding new characters. Even if there’s 50-60 characters to choose from everyone will always pick basically the same hero’s. The only way to combat that is introduce hero bans. Literally answers everything.
Mauga is definitely ruining the game he's not fun to play, it's not fun to play against, and somehow it can be annoying even for teammates since they will mostly need to switch to ana and kiriko...
THIS it's exactly why I quit and have no intention of coming back to OW even when they inevitably nerf him. This season by far was their worst one yet and I thought it would be because of all the shitty recolors they decided to put in the battlepass but it's actually the fact that I can't play most of the fucking hero roster because of this shit tank.
