I have a binder for my patterns. They are grouped in categories: afghans, sweaters, baby items.. I put the original pattern in a sheet protector, I make copies of the pattern, and they go behind the original. Then, I just pull a copy of the pattern I have chosen, leaving the original in pristine condition for the future because I tend to write all over my patterns when I am working on a project.
Q of the Week: I keep my patterns digitally in Goodnotes! That way I can take them anywhere! I’m pretty new to the crochet world (I started 2 months ago). I’m 36 years old from Fort Lauderdale Florida and finding peace and relaxation in my crochet 😌 ☮️
I just had to let you know that I watch my 2 yr old granddaughter a couple times a week and She likes to watch yarn videos. But She's very choosey. Guess who She picks. I highlight the different podcasts and She says "not that one, not that one", then I highlight yours and she says, "That one! Yes, that one!" This has happened on several occasions, so you are definitely one of her favorites. You are hitting it out of the park with the youngest of the crochet crowd. #HomerunWith2YrOldCrochetCrowd
@@SecretYarnery She came in this morning and we had started watching the JAYGO for the sunflower blanket yesterday and She remembered that We watched flower tutorials and EP127 yesterday all the way, but hadn't finished the joining video and She picked it out and told me " Yeah, Secret Yarnie, Secret Yarnie!" She can't say Yarnery yet, but I think that we can safely say She knew exactly who She wanted to watch this morning too ♥
I see....... FLOWERS!!! Gosh I love those chrysanthemums! I giggled over the question about patterns because if you knew how discombobulated my craft areas are, your eyes would pop out of your head as your jaw dropped. Lol! I have patterns stashed everywhere, in totes, folders, binders, inside books and especially my personal ones in spiral notebooks and graph paper composition books. I have them stacked under the bed, on top of my desk and various tables around the house, a few in my basement (it's a finished basement sometimes I go to crochet), and even on my kitchen and dining room tables. I have a spiral notebook on my bed also. When I get an inspiration, I don't have to get our of bed! The pen is stashed inside the spiral coil!! Your Dubai purchases are dreamy!!! Going to thread shops in Istanbul is on my bucket list!!!!
The metallic shawl would be awesome in a bamboo cotton with a metallic thread!! You've given me an idea as I have metallic cones of thread in gold, silver & royal blue! Hmmm.... I'll have to think about that! I remember all of those patterns in stack in the back, as usual! The Eregeneia Shawl is still one of my fave shawls ever as I've made 2 of them. I have problems with the chemicals in printed books, so I don't buy pattern books other than my 1 stitch book & 2 border books. I have only a few printed patterns in a display folder with plastic sleeves, which are my most used patterns, but mostly I follow patterns either online or from my digital pattern file that's quite large now. Hope you're getting some cooler weather. Our weather is warming up again this week.... yay! 25C - 29C this week after a few days of 20-22C. 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
Hi, Kerryn Wright!! Wait until the Ice Yarn unboxing - I was talking to you in my head the WHOLE time as I smelled all the yarns! LOL Biggest of hugs! Meer says HI!! 🌻🌺🌼
❤❤Hi Krista...thank you for what you do. You bring REAL into my crochet world!! I store all my patterns in binders, double sided and in plastic sleeves. Then when I stitch, I leave the pattern in the sleeve and use a magnetic board. My pattern stays crisp and clean. LOVE your posts!!❤❤
Yes. A tutorial with the loop yarn would be great. I won't be able to get any loop yarn for awhile, but when I do...watch out. :)And yes see if she'll come on your channel. I have three binders for my patterns. A WIP, a Journal binder that is all the finished projects and a binder just for hope to make sometime. I don't have a UFO binder. The patterns are all kept in 3 hole punch sheet protectors. The Stack in the Back was fun as usual. I really enjoy you telling the story behind each item. A tutorial on the metallic shawl, road kill bunny, caplet with the turtleneck on it in the way you think you'd like to do it and, the Christmas Tree Skirt.
Hi Christa. I write my own patterns, from watching a video. I can't read patterns well, so I watch a video and write the instructions myself in a notebook. I love the stack in the back, the road kill bunny is a must have!
Thank you so very much for reading my comment and question. I can’t wait to see what you come up with when you make the butterfly granny square! When I first began crocheting, I put my detailed patterns and project info on 3x5 cards that are hole punched into a mini binder. I could take them out and put in my giant ziploc bags for when I was making the project. But now I write the url or name of the RU-vid video on the card and the actual pattern isn’t on the card. Most places have Wi-Fi nowadays here where I live and crochet. ❤ I love the Christmas tree skirt from the stack in the back! Thank you Christa!
I am so glad you shared about your Hobbit cloak esp showing how it your lady. I started a project over 2 years ago and have hit the proverbial brick wall. I'd planned on making a sort of floor length poncho for my 40 something soon who still loves to walk around his house just wrapped in an Afghan. Your cloak idea (I believe) will probably breach the walls I've been banging my head against. I just need to probably insert a couple of small hand holes near the edge and possibly a pocket or two. I enjoy your show when I have the time to watch You Tube.
I loved the stack in the back!! The Christmas tree skirt and the caplet were my favorite (I would love to make both) but everything was great!! Thank you for sharing 🙂
I have binder's that I keep my crochet patterns organized. I also keep sheet protectors for each pattern. I do binder's for my gardening also. I love the gray shawl and a tutorial would be awesome. Thank you for sharing your talents and teaching us!!!! Have a Blessed day 💖.
Christa, I absolutely LOVE your Christmas tree skirt ❣️ Its so beautiful!! I have a 3 drawer plastic storage cabinet that I keep all of my loose patterns in and a bookshelf where I keep all of my actual pattern books. I love all of your work, girl!! You're amazing ❣️
I use ring binders and the page sleeves for my folders. I scavenged skinny binders (1/2"-1") and put one pattern in each folder. Those tend to be medallion-like pattern. RU-vid is my other pattern holder. Thanks for showing the Hobbit cloak, love the colors! It's definitely a winter project.
Hi Crystal, love this question of the week. I've gone through so many different ways of organizing patterns, but like you, I think the bucket method is the best. I'm about to transfer my patterns from my notebooks into a storage organizer. I think it's a great way to see everything that you have at once. Thanks for all of your great videos and tutorials... Looking forward to watching more
Hi Crista, I have my patterns in a binder, but after reading some of the comments, I think I will organize them better and print out a few more that have been neglected, lol I also write my own makeshift patterns, and those I just keep in notebooks. I love all of the tips I get from watching your channel.
Christa, what you refer to as tassels....crocheting for over 29 years....my mother and l called it fringe! Frey chek....l used it many years ago to keep my counted cross-stitch fabric from fraying! Love you and your channel! Jan From Leesburg, Florida (Of course the USA!)
I bought an inexpensive scanner and I scan my patterns, saving them as PDFs. I can then pull out my flash drive (or SD card), browse, select and print out a new pattern whenever I need one. I can also use a pen or highlighter to make notes or mark my place. Storage is not a problem.
I keep my patterns in sheet protectors and then in a binder. Yet I don't have them in categories 😲I have my own little yarnery. Just destashed, SIGH. Needed a revamp. I have a couple of your patterns, they are so great! Easy to follow. Thank you so much for all of your time and effort you put into crochet. 😃👍💞💕
Hello Christa, I keep my patterns in 3 ring binders with sheet protectors and by category. They are stored in my armoire. I have about 60 binders. I love your flowers and can't wait to start making them. Right now, I'm making prayer shawls for the church. I need to look through the patterns I have of yours and get to bundling. I accidentally bought a couple of your patterns twice. I get a kick out of your road kill rabbit every time I see it. I love the c2c shawl. Have a great weekend
Use a toothpick to apply a micro-dot of freycheck to the end of the yarn where you tuck it and cut it. Especially when the project will be washed a lot.
I have a dis-organized style for my patterns! Lol! Some are in binders, some on the couch, some in a drawer, some in my WIP bag ... you get the picture. I do have binders and page protectors waiting for them all. Currently finishing up all of my WIPs so I may get organized after they are done.
My patterns are a mess. I have some on my computer, some in a binder, some old hand written on in a journal. I need to get organized, I like your container idea a lot. I really like the capelet, I think I would like it a little longer. I love everything you make. My to do list is so long. I am now just trying to finish some whips. Thank you for sharing another great video with us. Have a great day.
Please Please Please do a tutorial of the Road Kill Bunny. I love it. Originally from Wisconsin & there is always road kill on the road. Now I’m in New Mexico. Love your channel. Watch it constantly. Your a hoot! Be safe. Oh! Yes on the loopy yarn tutorial. Very interested.
All my patterns are in binders , my husband says I have an addiction lol I have 38 binders oh boy lol love love your channel You are the best on RU-vid my number 1 . Love from Canada 🇨🇦 Ontario
Yay!!! Tickled to have won your latest pattern! Thanks so much, Christa. Really enjoyed your shopping in Dubai video, and looking forward to later in this video to see what you bought... Hugs & blessings :)
Hi Christa, I loved the stack in the back. A tutorial for the capelet would be great. I keep my patterns in page protectors and put them in files. So many patterns , not enough time!
Love watching your Stack in the Back. A shawl is the first item I made when I learned to crochet. I still have it. I love all the items you make. I keep all my patterns on an external drive and just print the pattern when I make it. I then put the pattern in a binder.
Hi! I am a new crocheter. I taught myself how to crochet and read patterns a year ago. I have been enjoying your podcasts for a couple of months now, but this is my first time commenting. I store my patterns three ways. I have a lot of pattern books on my shelves, the printed ones are in a binder, and some are saved electronically on my computer. I have the perfect yarn substitute for your metallic evening glamor shawl, how about Lion Brands Date Nights yarn. It is metallic and has the same kind of drape as the shawl you showed.
Patterns that I have printed out, I store in a categorized accordion folder. Ones that I haven't printed out yet, are stored by project type on my computer.
I download all my patterns to my phone or my iPad, they are easily accessible when I’m working on a project. If I have a question, I can just look at my iPad or iPhone to look at the pattern, it is also nice that I can adjust the font due to the fact I have low vision. I also print two hardcopies and put them in protectors and then in binders by category. It is wonderful. I can download the patterns, so that easily accessible and more importantly, when I am looking at a pattern on my devices, the font can be easily adjusted so I’m able to read the pattern
Shawl and capelet tutorials, please! So awesome! And perfect shawl too! Patterns.... I keep things I want to make electronically. If on RU-vid, I save video to RU-vid by category. I'm not a paper gal... tried that and failed.
Hi Christa! I always love stack in the back. Love both shawls and love the jacket. It does look like a kimono and that's what I like about it. Is there a tutorial? If not would love to see one as well as one for the capelet and cotton shawl. Love the tree skirt, it's beautiful. Always love your podcasts. I think it would be great if you did an interview with the gal from the yarn shop. Sorry been behind on videos. Thank you for all you do! 🤗
I keep them in a box for now. Just started crocheting in the past couple years and learned from you tube videos. Really trying to learn to read patterns.
I've only used Fray Check on my counted cross-stitch projects. I have patterns in binders if printed, I also have in magazine racks the ones that are already printed.
I keep my patterns in a 3 ring binder and each is slipped into clear plastic cover sheets so they stay clean (I have 4 kids so anything is liable to get dirty). I like being able to easily remove them and put them back when I'm done and I just have them easily organized into general categories so I can throw the pattern anywhere within that category and don't worry about having them organized within the categories. Thank you for all your wonderful work and tutorials! 🩷
Hi Christa. I love your Easter egg blanket 😋. I am going to have to make it. I keep my patterns in binders and use page protectors. I have 10 binders🤗. I love your flowers too💖. I would love a tutorial on the gray capelet. And I agree that it would be better if it was a little longer.
The roadkill bunny scarf was by far my favorite stack in the back. In terms of pattern organizing I’m really bad I keep them in a loose pile or scattered around my room 😅😬
Hi, I have crochet patterns saved on my computer organized by type of project. If I print out the pattern, I put it in a folder in my file cabinet. Love those flowers!
Hi Christa! I keep my patterns in a binder with sheet protectors. I don't have too many. I have a hard time reading traditional patterns. I usually watch the RU-vid tutorial if there is one.
Hi Krista great PopCap I love the metallic cotton Shaw a lot but I like the whole deck in the back. We're organizing why don't you try putting each category and one binder like granny square objects go in granny square binder wearable and wearable kinder and so on get you a book stand put the binder on there so you don't have to take it out then all you have to do close it when you're done put it back on the Shelf. just an idea. Thank you Christopher a wonderful morning. See you next time.
At the moment I keep my patterns in binders for cerrtain topics, but I do plan on making them more organized but I really need to buy some sealant for my shelving. I painted one and plan on painting another shelf with chalk paint, but putting things on them worries me that they will get ruined so I want to get a sealant before I organize patterns and everything else more. I really need to get on that. I have had piles of patterns on 2-3 surfaces in my room and that doesn't exactly work well when you are winding yarn and there is a pile there. I really want to reorganize things, but it's at the point I might have to kick the husband out of the bedroom cause my stuff for crocheting is taking up most of the room and to organize I will have way more. Our place we live in my craft room can only be placed in our bedroom. We haven't really figured out a way to do it in the living room yet. With a couch, it's the hardest thing to figure out with lack of space. I love watching your videos while crocheting. I get so many ideas for things that I started to write things down so I stop forgetting why I have things on my wishlists. Now I can actually remember things a bit better. Love the bunny scarf. It's really cute.
Question of the week… most of my patterns are saved on my iCloud. My paper patterns are in a photo album. Page protectors are the way to go, don’t have to open the binder… just slip the pattern out of the page protector. 😃😍
I have some of my patterns in a couple small binders and some are in a magazine holder. I’m not very organized now. I have to get more page protectors a a big binder to organize better. I like your last shawl you showed. It looks so cozy. 💜🙏🏻
I would absolutely love for you to try to make a tool up I’m decorating my room with your flowers and my daffodils I’m also making them for my daughter-in-law for a bouquet for her room and I’m making big butterflies to hang in my room as well I love you show be safe and have a happy happy sunshiny day 🤗♥️🥰🌹🌷 🐾🐾
Love the Dubai haul! I keep my patterns as soft copy and hard copy....in my computer i have them organised into folders by type of pattern and i print out patterns that i have bought and when I'm working on some project....and then put them in sheet protectors and into ring binders. I wanted to print all my patterns when i started out ....but i have way too many at this point!
hiya christa! love the easter egg pattern! woooohooo on that! loopy colors are nice. QOTW: im not really a pattern person. very much a visual learner. the few patterns i keep are in a note book. lots of love from colorado! xoxo
I use Fray Check all the time in my sewing projects. It will make your yarn very stiff and hard. I use it mainly to stiffen holes cut in fabric for eyelets. I suppose it would feel scratchy when you wanna use the blanket to cover you. Please also be sure you work with it in a well ventilated area or outside. It will come with a lot of bad fumes that gave me really bad headachesand made me dizzy until I realized it was the fray check.
I would LOVE a tutorial for the cotton shawl from stack in the back. It looks so elegant and I love the way it drapes as well. It is something I would do for sure. Please!!!
I just have to say that I would love a square with a butterfly in the middle, too. What an awesome idea! Another one that I would love to know how to make is a five-pointed star in the center of a square so that I wouldn't need to sew on appliques for an American flag blanket. I've looked and looked and either they use appliques or they use 6 pointed stars inside a square. If you release a pattern for a butterfly square or a five-pointed star square, I will definitely be buying it. Hugs & blessings, again :)
I would love to see a tutorial for the grey ribbed capelet. It looks like it would be perfect under my winter coat here in northwest Iowa. I have binders and a storage crate for pattern storage.
Me too, but I wave my arms like a windmill, so down to elbows would be perfect for me... If the pattern is top-down one, I guess it would be easy enough to add more rows as you wish.
Hiya Christa...from NW FL. I love your videos and tutorials. I love the caplet as well as most of them. I keep my patterns in binders and in my files on my computer. I love the larger shawls you have which would be useful to me as I am not small but very fluffy and could use them to wear to church. Thank you
When I am making something, I print a pattern (from my Ravelry library or from my saved patterns on the computer). After making the item, I have a cardboard portfolio for these printouts. The portfolio has sections labelled with categories, and I just put the pattern (with my written notes) into the portfolio so I can use it again later. (I would enjoy seeing a tutorial for the capelet, if enough people interested in that one for you to do the tutorial...)
Hi Crista I have to be honest my patterns are all over the place. I need to get some organization going here. Live all your makes. I enjoy watching your videos. Dont always comment but do watch. The colors in Caron simply soft blanket are awesome.. If you want to make it bigger why dont you add some plain colors.
I keep my patterns in files but i like your idea of boxed up. So i might do that in the future. And yes pls it would be nice to show us how you did the caplette the one that you said needs to be longer to wear lije a jacket over your arms.
I am wondering 🤔 if you are still going to do a tutorial on the mushroom 🍄 toilet roll cover. My daughter is a teacher and I would love to make her 1 for her desk in the classroom. Thanks for all that you do. Hugs and blessings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Ya, that simply soft is beautiful yarn, but it splits like crazy... 🤬 I don't have any set way to organize my patterns, but I saw a video recently where the vlogger was having books spiral bound. So l am looking at doing that for books that can be easily unbound (why anyone would make a crafting book hard cover... insane!). For loose patterns, I think the binder & page protector way might work. Have a great day!🐞
Hello everyone. I keep my patterns electronically and print them as I want to make them. I’m living in a condo and don’t have room to keep them physically Love your videos Krista ❤
I keep my books organized by craft ie: crochet, knit, quilting. Then my printed patterns are by craft ie: crochet binder then sections like blanket, amigarumi, baskets etc and are all in page protectors so u don’t have to trying to open the binder and everything falling out when u open thee rings - if u know what I mean by that.
