Dude slipknot barely played a tribute to Joey when he died and I know he had been out of the band for a while by the time of his passing but he deserved so much more love. They gave Paul more love when he passed. I lost respect for slipknot after that. Not to say one member deserved more than the other but shit the least they could of done was show Joey as much love as they did Paul. The difference being the metal scene went crazy for Joey when he passed other bands paid better tribute to him than slipknot ever thought of

Y'all are both mostly wrong. He learned this technique after hurting his voice during the disasterpiece tour. "Growling" is not really a technique, and frankly Corey used to just scream with actual distortion on the vocal chords. Generally you should try and use false chord distortion, or fry distortion which is actually a lot of soft palate and a few other little minutia. Hope this helps, resident vocalist here

@@LEGiTdistortion every interview I've seen of him (and one of his vocal coach) has him stating that the damage was done split between Iowa sessions and the disasterpiece tour. Regardless he never cared for his voice with proper warm ups and their schedule is stupid. His voice is so shot nowadays is fucking sad
