My mom and aunts went to Fleming, my mom and aunt was the class of '92 and my other aunt was the class of either '97 or '98. These videos definitely bring back memories to my family. Keep the uploads coming bro.
Thanks to politicians Williamson Road cruseing did after 50+ years and many of other automotive related businesses died. Thanks gov. you always know best care so much and it shows.
My elementary school was on here.. at the time it was a good school but it was round Hill elementary.. the neighborhood I was living in between 1967 and 1974 was a middle class working class neighborhood and then the rental property started to come in about a year before we moved.. some apartment complex was built up the road from us on Queen Avenue Northeast. People in the area were getting antsy because of the rental property. My parents separated in 1974 so the next year our house was sold and we didn't lose money. I drove down that street in 1997 and I literally had a heart attack because it looked like a dump!! I drove down that street in 2015 and it looks kind of like the ghetto really.. I can't believe the neighborhood and how it changed.
My guess is it's about 1967. I-581 and the bridges plus the Elm Ave bridge at Community hospital are just being finished. Salem Civic Center nearing completion. Lee Junior High School was still there. Paff federal building there now. The old school administration building where the Noel Taylor Municipal building on church is still there and the 2,000 seat American theatre where the 15 story Carillion building at Jefferson and Kirk is still there.
Thanks born 1952, went to Lee Junior and Jefferson High. First drive down I-581. Had high School Graduation at the American Theater and first graduation of VWCC at the then New Roanoke Civic Center!
