Use the vegetable water you cooked your vegetables in to add to gravy instead of plain water, you get gorgeous flavour and most importantly the goodness xx
No one makes proper gravy these days. Not even when you go out to a restaurant. You can tell the difference with proper homemade gravy and gravy granules or bisto it comes nothing near proper homemade!
I would sear the joint first in a little oil to brown it. And I would lay it on a bed of sliced onions then pour over beef stock. Add a bay leaf too. 👍
That looks delicious Claire first time watching and subscribed ive been cooking over 50yrs and still learn something new everyday. Ignore some of the know alls on here x
Roast beef in the slow cooker is yummy...i do beef and lamb in mine til it falls apart. i always add a dollop of mustard in with the beef..and mint sauce too....another tip is to use the water you boiled your veg in for the gravy for extra flavour or better still add them to the slow cooker in the last hour of cooking the meat so all flavours combine. I never cut crosses in my sprouts as you don't need to... they can go a bit mushy cos the water gets into them when cut xx
Always add liquids to the flour not the other way around this way avoids lumps. Then let the batter rest for at least 2-3 hours so the flour can fully swell, not 20 mins in a fridge. You beat the hell out of your batter no need if you follow these tips.
My Yorkshire puddings never rise always flat as pancakes & heavy as bricks don't know what on earth i do wrong tried fat hot etc but no joy, good job I can rely on Auntie Bessies 🙄😐
I think it's better to rest the beef when it's roasted in the oven. When cooked in a slow cooker the beef is already very tender and falling apart so not sure it matters the same 🤷♀️
I would have definitely rinsed the meat under cold water just to clean and get the blood from it, i wouldn't put straight into air fryer without cleaning it.
I usually sear my beef on all sides before it goes into the slow cooker.... gives it a nice colour and keeps the juices in the joint... and I have never used that amount of eggs in my yorkshires it would make it too heavy!!
Hi, a slow cooker costs about 5p per hour so 25p for that plus 40 mins for the oven at 200 degrees is about 90p. Cost of air fryer for 20 mins 20p. Cost of hob for 10 mins 8p. Boil kettle for hob 3p. So about £1.46 all together
I cannot understand you just using the oven to do your Yorkshire pudding. Waste of electricity. Just needed to put the roast potatoes in then halfway through cooking you could have put your pudding on then. Why put a cross in the sprouts. No need. They get waterlogged otherwise.
I think many of us in the North just refer to meat and veg and Yorshirepudding as a roast dinner. Ohften we say shall we have a Sunday dinner even on a weekday.
