What pisses me off is the actor was such a sweet, light hearted boy. His personality alone would have been a perfect Aang, but no mr M. Night Shitalon had to ruin that.
OMG IKR, I wish they couldve made him even a bit more like the original aang. His voice isnt even high and bubbly like I liked, and his movement is so slow and strict. I feel like I just watched a character’s soul been taken out of their body lol
@@angelabby2379 omg there it is! A loop hole! The mispronunciations!! This movie is not canon to the avatar universe! Its the "o"vatar it no long stains the name of the last air bender Im glad the changed their names onng is not anng suuka is not sokka... Im finally at peace
The studio wanted these specific actors so they raceswapped each nation except the Earth Nation, but that most likely because they were minor in this... Film.
N brought alot of nonfans into the fandom. Cause i had ppl who hadnt seen the show wanna watch the movie n ill go "NO! watch the show! Trust me now n thank me later"
14:04: This is way worse than he knows. In the Cartoon, this is a deep, emotional seen - but they LITERALLY let the emotional stuff out. That's why it feels so weird. Seriously, it's incompetence on highest level, like, imagine: A Scene with "I love you." and "Same." and they LEAVE OUT THE '"Il love you!" How freaking weird would that be! Imagine it! Imagine someone just starting blankly and the other one then says "Me too." Imagine it! Iroh was most ruined, trust me. Most ruined.
I would’ve preferred that stupid fire nation play to this because that play may have been stupid but it was quality stupidity unlike the this garbage movie👌
@@Tacobell1384 thats because they knew what they were doing where shamalalalalala is "hey guys lookie! Im such a inventive director look at all the awkward shots i make! Haha quirky🤷♂️" 🤣🤣
exactly. they did such a good job with making him a scary character, they chose to show very little of him up until book three which added a lot of suspense to his character. Not to mention, they probably couldn't have chosen a better actor to voice Ozai than Mark Hamill.
Nick Nuccitz Nah fam, Sokka is how they spell it in the show I believe. I may be wrong, since the written language of the ATLA world is one I can’t read. But that was how the subtitles spelled his name
Mietta Livingstone Ohhh lmao, I feel like an idiot. I had a moment of genuinely thinking that ‘soaka’ may be how it was really spelled, and that I’ve had it wrong for 13 years
ikr, they could be stopped so easily if katara just put the fire out or something. it literally makes no sense that the fire nation was conquering the world when they are easily the weakest benders in the movie
Legit how would the Fire Nation even remotely take over other nations if their bending relied on needing fire as a source? All other nations not only have easy access to their element, but also possess elements effective at snuffing out fire. You couldn't tell me TLA Fire Nation managed to wipe out all airbenders in their home, with unlimited access to their element, where the Fire Nation would need to carry easily destroyable torches.
@@sana3843 still, if you do a vid "roasting something to shreds" and you want to claim you are a huge fan of the source material, watch it again, or even do some simple research so you don't get basic facts about it wrong. seriously, "BD (burned dude)"??? feck off and use some search engine for 3 seconds, christ.

Exactly, the scar was almost invisible. And I think they did uncle Iroh more dirty, he had no humor. Uncle Iroh is wise but not always so serious like they showed. And I don't wanna even start on how they completely changed Sokka and Aang's personality. Why everyone so serious in the movie?
Suki didn’t really become a main character until like season 3 officially so that’s understandable, plus sokkas plot in the movie was pretty much his relationship with yue
"HES OUR RESPONSIBILITY!" Me: WTF, girl, you do NOT know his NAME! I repeat, you do not know his name yet! ...This Video here from Dylin is in Trouble does not even mention some thousands of the 10000 Problems of this movie!!
I think in that scene they didn't finish the cgi or finished the pan. With the 6 people bending it looks like there were six football size rocks behind them going to the left but the camera didn't finish it's pan to show it. It's still to much bending for the Little Rock's still but that how I saw the scene after looking at it a few times
@@Boibluu thats what im explaining. The 6 guys didnt move the big rock that everyone says they did im simply saying that they probably moved the other rocks that were going into frame
The Earthbender prison was literally on a metal ship in the middle of the ocean.... So they couldn't earth bend. That's why they felt hopeless.... That's why they had to sneak into the prison.....
To be fair, if Toph had been there she could have sorted that out without the Avatar. I do find it really interesting that TLoK confirmed that this ability only works with 'impure' metals that still have some sort of silica content. Or lava. Lava bending is the best thing EVER. >.>
Yeah, that whole arc with the earth kingdom prisoners on LAND was absolutely pointless when not only can firebenders NOT PRODUCE THEIR OWN FIRE IN THIS FUCKING MOVIE FOR SOME REASON, the earth benders have earth ALL AROUND THEM. Like what the fuck just wait until it rains and then the fire nation can't do shit because all of their torches and campfires went out XD How the hell were ANY nations even phased by firebenders? Like just invade the fire nation when it rains and they're fucked, the reason they were so dominant in the show was because they could produce their own fire and thus be able to actually overpower other benders SOMETIMES, in this movie how the absolute hell do firebenders ever win a battle against anyone? They get like one attack and then they ran out of fire, absolute dogshit decision from the directors.
@@erinhaury5773 Toph wouldn't have been able to solve the issue at that point in time though; she doesn't create metal bending until months later, and especially if she was there with her parents, which seems likely, I feel like she'd have succumbed to the same despair. However, if she kept her superior, them she might have detected the coal and used that because, I mean... it's still Toph
@@helenmuir3218 movies are shit but there is... ~that scene~, oh yeah and logan being adorable HAVE U SEEN HIM NOW???, like put him a bermuda and a beachy t-shirt and new poseidon LET'S GOOO BABY
It's been do long since I've seen this stupid thing that I've forgotten a lot. Including that. Like, no! It's supposed to be at the end of the summer. Not three years. The stakes are SO high! There's almost no time at all for Aang to master the other three elements. That's why they're so worried and why they're so adamant about finding an earthbending teacher quickly. The directors just wanted to make this their huge hit and make it last as long ad possible. And they failed. This movie is just.....ugh, I want to burn it.
outside of the fiction, the creators probably did that because it would have taken them about 2-3 years to make the sequel if it had been greenlit, so the in-series timeline matching up better with the real-world timeline would help any potential continuity problems with the young actor's ages. Otherwise, Katara's and Aang's actors would've likely been visibly older which would be awkward if the second movie took place shortly after. It's still a terrible writing and adaptation choice though, and all for nothing considering this horrible series died here.
@@griffinraynor8425 well the LOTR trilogy, if I remember correctly, were shot at the same time. ATLA deserves proper live-action adaptation but I have little hopes now that the creators left the upcoming Netflix series

This actually changes by countries. In Israel they pronounce it Eroh, maybe it's just an accent or something? I grew up calling Zuko Tzuko and Iroh as Eroh. Hope this delayed comment helped
They removed Iroh’s badass dialogue : “Whatever you do to the spirit I will return to you ten fold! LET IT GO, NOW!” Into : “general zhao~~~ don’t ~~~~ HEY! THAT’S SACRELIGIOUS!
Almost always young people get aged up in movies to make the audience not feel to awkward and ro draw in older audiences, who don't want to see 14 year olds on screen
Reasons why this new one will most likely be better: 1. It’s going to be a live action series instead of a movie 2. M. Night Shamaylan is going to be no where near this movie 3. The original creators of the show are going to help with it 4. NO SHAMAYLAN 5. NO 👏 SHA- 👏 MAY- 👏 LAN 👏👏👏
@@ivannapaisa3512 nothing solid, I've heard things varying from mid 2020 to 2022. All i know is they're still in somewhat early development. They haven't even announced anything about the cast yet (besides that there will be no white actors)
LMFAO i was thinking about that, like in the show its clear that katara, sokka and the water tribe were poc and the fire nation were mostly asians but they switch that whole thing up, i hope that in the one thats coming up now they don’t change that and keep most of the storyline the way it was in the show.
Typically, I have no problem with the change in ethnicities in relation to movie adaptations based on animation. Because animation (and japanese anime) in general, have character designs that are practically up to interpretation. However, as long as the change in probable ethnicity was for a worthwhile reason (ie maybe being a certain actor's talents or, like I said, directors interpretation), then I'm usually fine with the change. Unfortunately, this movie casted horrible people for the roles they were playing, and every decision made in this movie was almost meant as if it was to be insulting to the fans/audience.
This is like when they tried making Percy Jackson a movie and laughed in Riordan's face when HE offered HIS help adapting *_HIS_** OWN BOOKS WHICH **_HE_** WROTE!!!*
It's the time it would have taken to film the sequels (lol), so the actors would clearly have aged by the end. Still, not a great move, especially since in this movie Aang apparently masters waterbending in a hot minute. I hope the live action show won't have the same issue or will deal with it better.
why is uncle iroh SKINYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY AND WHY DID THEY NAME HIM EEEROH ITS NOT EEEROH ITS IROHHHH AND HE'S CHUBBY ROUND AND LOVABLE NOT A PEDOOOO
I think they should have stopped at the prison Arc, develop the characters more, make it slower and not as rushed, make the climactic fight cool then you have a sold movie now and continue to make more like that.
So my parents watched this and told me they were watching Avatar the last air bender. Thinking it was the show, I came out to see and nearly had a heart attack when I saw the movie. I tried to tell them not to watch it but they wouldnt listen. They said it was a good movie... I'm now searching for a way to preform an exorcism because I'm 100% sure they are possessed.
Fem Portagal yeah he hasn’t and I’ve got into an argument with him and he agreed that we will watch the show together at some point as we’re both live far away from each other and covid 19
No one firebends because the movie made it so no one could firebend without a fire source, which makes them significantly weaker than anyone else, not that anyone really bends in this movie.
Like wtf every single firebender in the show can make their own fire, it took a million earthbenders to move a pebble in the movie and literally there was so much arm movement and zero elemental payoff
I hate it when moviemakers take a story and just choose the parts they like and ignore everything else. This isn't fucking Build-a-Bear. I understand not having the money or time to include every single detail, but this movie is such an obvious example of when writers are too unimaginative to come up with a story of their own and take an existing story to just mess it up. However!! Bryan and Mike have said that the Netflix version will have a higher production and poc actors, so I'm starting to get my hopes up. But honestly I just wish that they would leave it alone xd
Can you imagine what it would be like for the lighting benders. Just sitting there for forever waiting for a storm to come just to attack once only to waste it because the enemy already left.
I can't believe when I was younger, this movie was my first introduction to ATLA, and I actually liked it. Now after watching ATLA, I tried to rewatch it again to truly see how horrible it was, and I couldn't even last 5 minutes of watching the movie.
My mom's girlfriend said that she actually liked the movie. I'm not going to their wedding. I'm not. She could've got herself a girlfriend who actually has a good movie taste
@@miaalmeida4787 yeah, seeing this movie before watching the show definitely gives one a different opinion. @@miaalmeida4787 ah, well white washed or not, quality can still be crap... and knowing Netflix's history and tendency to destroy shows with their live action reboots... I have very low expectations.
Joshua Avatar is a Sanskrit word. It’s supposed to be pronounced that way. In my religion there is a story about the Avatar and it’s pronounced that way.
what I love about him forgetting Zuko's name is that he's watching a movie that Zuko is a character in. It doesn't matter if he forgot his name in the show; the MOVIE should be doing its job of TELLING THE AUDIENCE THE NAME OF ITS ANTAGONIST.
The cartoon fire nation throne room: *fire burning all around, has no windows to highlight it, deep red colours and drapery, the firelord is silhouetted menacingly behind literal wall of fire* this movie: the throne room is a uhh, moderately sized drab concrete room with a few wussy torches around the edges, also broad daylight
I love how he knows so many details and yet he doesnt know that the last airbender consists of only 3 seasons, because he established his first element before the series started
Book four was planned with the other three. One of the things that was supposed to happen was an azula redemption arc but book four was cancelled bc of this movie
Noelle Bato Azula REDEMPTION? Yeah no Zuko was enough. Azula was a literally batshit crazy sadistic baddie, her insanity becoming her own demise was enough good writing. Not every major bad character needs a goddamn redemption. Next they’re gonna look at Ozai’s character funny.
The movie was terrible but the animated series was great. I think the Netflix series will be great because the original writers and the guy who did the music are apart of the project.

Can we talk about how in the captured earthbenders arc, the reason the earthbenders didn't fight back was because they were taken to a metal ship where there was literally no earth to bend, but in the movie, the scene happens on a MOUNTIAN?!? Like wtf they definitely would've fought back if they were imprisoned somewhere where their power was the strongest!!
The only good thing that came out of this movie was the actress that portrayed Princess Yue, was able to audition and become the voice actress for Asami Satonin the Legend of Korra

I've seen a fan made, cosplay, recreate the battle with Azula against Zuko with waaaaay better cgi and actual martial arts movements with good camera angles. It's really good work, even though their budget was pretty low. I've even seen a doll re-designer make way better outfits, hand-made for their ATLA dolls. The crew and actors, simply didn't do the work to make the beloved show alive on the big screen.
I'll never forget taking my girlfriend (now wife) to see Avatar. We both were big fans of the cartoon and knew the movie was going to be bad, but nothing prepared me for this. It was only 5 or 6 other people in the theater and we all came out going 'What the hell was that?' it was a memory I'll never forget.
Katara is canonically the only water bender of the Southern Water Tribe as well, so even if it took a while to melt all the ice the other villagers couldn't just reform it or fight with it
