Someday I will own one of these. Lined fretless, thumbrest fingerboard. Task #1: acquire the funds. Task #2: acquire the bass. Task #3: never let the wife find out how much it cost.
Extended fingerboard is just sexy .. Lines on the board is not necessary, I learnt that from my fbass ac5 years ago, it encourages you to give it a try but eventually intonation is the ear thing after hours of practice. Find one used so you won’t lose much money one day if you decide to sell it . And tell the wife their value stays there.
@@tree-style I've never played fretless, figured the lines would help with the transition, especially since I normally play a 32" scale and not a shortscale. I never buy basses with the intent of ever selling them, but yes, used would probably be wise, if a used one with the right combo (woods, fretless, thumbrest) ever appears.
Excellent demo! I'm seriously considering a Mouse 30 or a Deep 4 fretless. I love the finger board extension -- functional and a really nice aesthetic component of the design.
yeah .. that extended fingerboard is classy ... to me that's Rob's signature ... Mouse is overall dark, mb-2 is overall bright .. and deep 4/5 is in-between with the most acoustical sounding ... love them all ..
I asked jim stinnett when he was still alive which he preferred for an upright like sound, the mb2 or the mouse 30. He very quickly replied; "without a doubt the mouse 30 "
physically i can hit D on my double bass ... that range is out of my little brain .. I also believe most working bassist can make a living by knowing the first 2 octaves.
hello ... i like both Rob's Mouse30 and MB2 , they're in the same price range so the choice is more of the personal preference thing. I've wrote a little thoughts before, and just had the link on the video description now. Thanks - tree
