Success is a process, and Rob has broken that process down into 5 key phases which he calls “The Cycle of Success.”
Success is broad, and everyone’s definition of it is very personal to them. There are infinite ways to define success, but Rob contends that every version of success, no matter what it is or who is going through it, follows a similar pathway.
That pathway is something he has termed “The Cycle of Success,” which he breaks down into 5 kay phases that are broadly applicable. The most important piece of the Cycle, is to be aware in advance that when things are at their most challenging, that is in fact a crucial part of the process itself and should be expected. This is the Third Phase, which Rob terms “The Great Test,” and it’s where quitting is the most tempting. But making it out to the Fourth Phase, and crossing The Belief Horizon, makes achieving the goal all but inevitable.
Listen to the full episode for the rest of the phases that will guide you toward a better version of yourself.

There is pretty intense disorientation in the 3rd phase. When all your options look equally like 'blind paths', and you can't figure out what to do. You can get a real 'disoriented' feeling: nothing is familiar any more, and the path forward feels uncertain. "I'm not sure what to do, I feel I'm not getting anywhere, all options look the same, and equally useless" I think the very best advice I've heard you describe is, *_"if you can look at your path and realize you are incrementally making progress, you can use that to not lose hope and not quit"_* That is HUGE. You provided a way to look at your efforts and decide to KEEP GOING, not give up, because you're making incremental progress, even if things are still not clear. "Okay, I've reached a plateau, don't feel like I'm getting anywhere, but I've actually achieved a lot more clarity about this journey, I'm going to keep moving forward, even though the path is not yet visible" Thank you for this perspective, it's valuable .

I’m guilty of this as well. So exciting when you stumble across a new concept. Even the very early stages are super exciting. The launch is fun, but then you need to make it work and it is tough.

These five stages apply to everything you might want to do in life and business. The Stages of Change 1. Uninformed Optimism 2. Informed Pessimism 3. Crisis of Meaning (Valley of Despair) 4. Crash & Burn 5. Informed Optimism 6. Achievement Most people try something new. They start at Uninformed Optimism. They then realize that it’s a lot harder than they thought, there’s a million steps between where they are and where they thought they would be. So they reach the point of informed pessimism. Over time they realize they are still at zero, except it’s even worse now because they’ve put in all this time and effort but got nothing in return. This is when they hit the Crisis of Meaning or the Valley of Despair. They change their goals, and say I’d be a lot happier if I spent more time with my family or friends, whatever. Most people then hit the bottom level which is Crash & Burn and so they give up and fail. At this point, in the Crash & Burn stage they find something new to try and they start the cycle all over again. They start again at uninformed optimism. They see someone else doing something different and making lots of money and they go to do that. But then they realize that is a lot more difficult than they presumed. And they end up crashed and burned again. But then there are a select few who make it through that crisis of meaning into a new stage called Informed Optimism. Now they know what it takes and they push through to achievement. So it usually looks something like this: Uninformed Optimism -> Informed Pessimism -> Crisis of Meaning -> Crash & Burn -> Start Something New… OR Uninformed Optimism -> Informed Pessimism -> Crisis of Meaning -> Informed Optimism -> Achievement. I’ve personally found this to be true in my life on many levels. Understanding this can really help you push through those moments of doubt, and on to achievement. I believe the idea of Start at the End is really a game changer. Specify the End, Get Clear on the Vision… Anchor Yourself in the Vision at the End then Work to Build Backwards to zero. Like planning a trip or vacation. Before you ever leave you need to be really clear on the destination - where your going. You gotta know specific things like where you’ll stay, when your arriving and leaving, what you’ll do there, how much this will cost, etc. Then you work backwards from there. Knowing how you’ll get there, the directions and what turn to make when. Planning and preparing the bags, etc. Only after all this is set you can finally leave. Just like a ship - it’ll never leave port unless it has a destination. The ships captain plans the route to get there, prepares the supplies and resources, etc. The captain will know exactly how long it’ll take to get there and how they’ll get there, how much food and water they need to take, etc. Same thing for almost everything. Then it becomes like a game, reaching milestones or way markers along the way to the destination.
