When Rob is talking about skating he says “like” a lot, but when he’s talking about business he doesn’t say it at all. You can really tell that he’s in his element when discussing his business ventures. Just something that stood out to me. Great episode.
cant really talk about how to ollie in a room full of skaters, he sounds like a homie talking about skating, but he sounds like hes wearing a suit talking about business so i think its harder to find words for skateboarding so like and um are just the filler
I remember going over to my friend's house every Tuesday night to watch the brand new episodes. That show is so great. "People let me tell you 'bout my best friend, He's a warm hearted person who'll love me till the end. People let me tell you 'bout him he's so much fun Whether we're talkin' man to man or whether we're talking son to son. Cause he's my best friend. Yes he's my best friend." RIP BB.
The biggest takeaway I got from this is to not focus on a bunch of big ideas hoping that one is going to hit it big and it will make you happy. The best thing is to design in your mind what a future happiness looks like, and then every decision you make will be working towards that. That is where his drive comes from. Everything he does is building towards his future that he has visualized for himself in his mind.
when u summarize it, the vibe makes sense. sometimes people need the cliffnotes version, i guess. i love how he talks about removing "friction" from ur life. absolutely necessary!!
It’s sad watching my favorite skaters/entertainers get old but it’s also rad seeing them grow old together and hanging out like this to tell these legendary stories. The nine club legends.
@@Whoisskating I just wasn’t sure what you were seeing 😂 my screen shows my actual name. But BeatingsByChrisBrown is a spin on BeatsByDre.. you know.. the whole Rihanna thing..
Just listening to Rob talk about his day to day and all the things he has going on at all times is exhausting. His drive is insane! Such a good episode.
@@-regular-james- wdym? they're literally asking him questions about himself so they're talking about it lol hes just giving the people what they wanna hear
We have officially hit the peak. I’ve been waiting for this episode since day 1 episode 1. Thank you to everyone at the nine club and thanks to rob for a stellar interview!
I hope Rob writes a book for skateboarders and passes a guide down of how to get from the first kickflip to his state of mind and life. Every skateboarder needs to see this.
@@dimaermolenko98 Maybe you're at a different stage in life. I'm 40, can't really ride anymore due to back issues, building my own small business is giving me as much happiness now as skateboarding did back in the day. It's hard to explain, but when you start to become the master of your own destiny, even starting a small side hustle that grows to pay you a reliable wage, you look at the world differently. You're no longer living at the whims of a boss, you're entirely your own master. That is the mindset Rob has, I understand it. But it took me till late 30's to be ready for that mindset.
@@dimaermolenko98 you sound salty and jealous. You can't appreciate another man's peace and happiness. Grow up. Hes doing very well and its honestly a treat to hear him spew out for 2 hours.
@@clintenos i deleted my previous posts not because I was wrong but because I don't need this discussion. I just dislike this dude and his attitude and couldn't bare listening more than 10mins. I tryed two Times...i dislike his mindset and salesman lifestyle. If that's salty whatever I am ok with that. Sure my posts were unnecessary...have a good one
Neil Blender. Coffee break board. Beautiful. Broke one in half back in the day. My dad threw it out. Dad passed 20yrs ago, God bless him. Gotta say I'm still pissed about that.
@@Unusualsuspect24 Everybody should know how to be manipulative. That doesn´t mean you´re a bad person. Now, not knowing how to be, means you´re always gonna be the one who loose in the end.
Rob and BIG def shaped my humor, never let the joke die and follow through with everything haha remembering the first episode foot race had me dyin. RIP BIG
How does he have the energy? Big respect to Rob. He’s paid his dues and has always given back to skateboarding. His part in Memory Screen is classic with the Dino Jr song. His drive is insane
To be fair it’s not like he’s doing manual labor. It’s more about positioning and timing rather than brute energy. Work smart not hard. Rob seems like a great dude but don’t put him on a pedestal. Don’t put anyone on a pedestal
My mom passed a week ago. A mid western mom, didn't like skateboarding too much, but for whatever reason, loved ridiculousness. I bet she would have loved this episode. Rob's probably one of the best negotiating skateboarders ever. What an amazing life, what an amazing set of deals he set up for himself.
Wow, I didn't know that he straight just gave alien/habitat etc back to their founders for nothing and took a $4M loss in the process. For that he'll forever have my respect. What a class act this guy is.
Rob is one of the greatest examples of how powerful your mind can be at manifesting the life of your dreams and rising above any limitations the haters label you with
Congratulations Rob Dyrdek, absolutely amazing. I am so happy for you and your accomplishments. This is my favorite "Nine Club" episode, congratulations Chris and team !!!!
I love the shoutout to Dayton. I remember checking on the progress of his park in Kettering every day after work. Almost broke my ankle opening day crooked grinding the 7stair. Saw Chaz Kickflip the 12 when he was like 8. Met Haslam there once too. Rob man you did a lot for Ohio kids. Thank you.
This is exactly how i assumed the talk would go, high energy, serious discussions and insights on life, but also laidback and jokes within the conversation. Glad this conversation happened but wow…i just want to know more even though I grew up watching him. Stop and chat Friday?
I was bummed the past few years for not seeing any skating from rob, after watching this it fully opened my eyes and i understood everything. Dude is one of the smartest individuals out there this was an amazing episode
This was my legit third time watching this episode, and I'm not the biggest Dyrdek fan, but a Million dollars worth of Game/Knowledge in this episode right here. "A harmonious high quality way of life..."
I remember starting out skating at a parking lot for a store called Hills and Rob , Neil Blender , Mitch and Mike and more , I never would have thought a sec some you guys would be where you are rn , keep up the awesome work .
Rob, this is one of the entrepreneurial insights that I personally can take in without judging the entrepreneur as a douche who I can't relate to. At 44 years old, I'm just getting back into skating. I can barely Ollie. But I'm also an "entrepreneur" myself. At a tiny tiny level. This has encouraged me to start to look at my daily schedule. This has inspired me to look at what I can learn to do with what I know. This interview has taught me to take a new look at my daily life. Lethal one could say this is... inspiring??
I’m still tripping on Robs structured time management. I’m 41 and own a couple businesses and forever will be a skater in my heart. His energy is so next level -I’m gonna have to study up lol.
And decades later he buys back Alien Workshop and gives all the lower companies away to friends he knows will run them properly. Dude is still a skater at his core, like he said he doesn’t give a damn about royalties when it comes to the companies that supported him growing up. Mad respect
Everybody needs to hear Rob’s account of Nyjah and his mom coming to the first SLS too poor to buy a hotel room. People act like he’s been privileged his whole life when the reality is the opposite. It’s a big reason why he appears so mature today because I doubt he even finished middle school. Him excelling is what made him wealthy, it was all hard work from him. And it’s sick that Rob was passionate enough to deliver a contest with a decent money purse.
I had his DC poster on my wall circa like, 2003-2005. Probably earlier. Been a fan of him in general forever. Crazy what he's accomplished. Super inspiring. Glad he keeps it up.
Finish this podcast definitely my favourite episode of all time. Rob is a legend. He has so much wisdom to share and I think that’s the podcast not for skateboarders, but for all walks of life.
Crazy to see him getting to huge. I remember getting the DC video right when it dropped & absolutely loved that skit. I remember no one knew who he was & me being so excited when I say the first commercial for Rob & Big. Was definitely an old school Rob D fan
God bless you Rob Dyrdek. Thank you for all you’ve done for me and the beautiful people of this universe. Your wisdom spans lifetimes. 🙏🏽 If you’re reading this. You will be successful. You already are. Take care and have a great day
I like this interview . Finally we get to see the real Rob. Hearing his honestly shows how much he's ground passed the Superstar Hollywood status he proclaimed for so many years.. I see now deep down he was always just a Skateboarder. This changed my view on him for sure. Now I respect him more. And Thanks The Nine Club for giving us and them the opportunity to reflex . 👊
I started skating in ‘03 and The DC Video was the first skate dvd I saw/owned. Integral part of my childhood for sure, literally watched it every day after school that whole year
Holy shit!!! I am blown away Rob Dyrdek. This is top tier content, seriously. Absolutely so inspiring and what you’re describing is what I’ve been feeling called to for years.
Tell me you didn’t watch this and think fk I can do this ! What an inspiring person rob is as a 38 year old x skater and literally grew up through his time it’s amazing and captivating to listen to his knowledge of business
@@soydave1988 It was a couple years ago right? I think I did listen to it. I haven't followed The Bunt in quite some time. I really enjoyed their Pat Burke interview. I need to go get caught up on them.
it’s really hard not to like Rob Dyrdek man. seems like a genuine, humble dude. super transparent about his skating career and super inspirational and driven. and he’s hilarious dude lol
Big ups to Rob for releasing he was wrong, and stepping up to do the right thing by Workshop… Haters gonna hate him, but that’s a stand up thing to do, and believe me he didn’t have to do that. Plus you know he didn’t make a dime on that, in fact lost money. He had my respect before this interview, but definitely solidified his legend status during it.👊🏻💪🏻 Mad props Rob….
most ppl dont realize how good rob was back in the day. .. the fist skate vid i owned was a dubbed copy of "the dreams of children" robs part stuck out for sure. dude had such a dope style.
Rob Drydek has always been one of my favorite skaters , I he was the first pro model board I ever had. its amazing the type of person he is becoming & the stuff he's done for skateboarding
Super Inspiring! Rob is on some real legacy mindset. His ability to imagine and manifest is next level and makes me want to improve in my own ways! Thanks for this episode. 🙏
I´m in the north of Sweden in Scandinavia. Started skating in 1984 when I was eleven. I will never forget the feeling of understanding what a skateboard was. I have been consuming skateboarding in one way or another daily since then. Not riding it anymore but still very passionate about it. I shed a little tear when they said "To Skateboarding" at the end. Because I have never experienced a more pure and uncontaminated shared passion as skateboarding, and I know I never will. Passions have come and gone, put skateboarding is a part of me. It´s a part of all of us, and whatever different opinions and taste we have in the world of skateboarding, the passion we share is the same...
I have been a fan of Rob since around 04 -05 when the DC video came out and I JUST FOUND OUT TODAY THAT ROB DOESN'T HAVE THE MONSTER BACK TATTOO... I am so relieved for him 😂
Love rob so much!!! He has so much to give to people and the community with his wisdom!! This is a must watch and definitely gonna be on my re watch list!!
I lived near Rob for about a year skating many moons ago. Everything he says is true. The dice games in the shoe boxes at the apartment and the rest. Rob was always keyed up and a funny dude. Glad he made it. Actually ran into him about 20 years later randomly when he pulled up in front of a building iI worked at In Santa Monica n a Ferarri years later. Caught up for a sec and he was the exact same guy. From the grom skater in the PB apartment to massive success and the rest. Exact same guy. Love it
I've never watched an episode so fast !!! Rok Dyrdek, you're so inspiring !! Focus on your goals and everything is possible !!! Time management is the key !!
This is the best episode I've seen so far. Always had respect for Rob but this just took it to a whole new level. Thank you Nine Club, thank you Rob, and thank you skateboarding.
Dyrdek has mogul money but isn't a billionaire, he'd need 10x more than his reported net worth to reach that. That's the difference in scale between having $10k and having $100k
@@nikokaapahe’s worth a couple hundred million just on selling his production company alone not counting his tv shows board sales and shoes but still not a billionaire no one in skateboarding is even close to a billion but Rob is easily the closest to hitting it and might at some point but still being worth a couple hundred million is pretty impressive
I love how robs so humble about his actual skating skills he’s like yeah I’m setting these contests up for beasts that are doing his bag of tricks to warm up on a spot like that. But it’s all still legendary
