I prefer 4 strips of bacon and 4 eggs which is 100% better for you and more Atkins now called Carnivore. It’s the fat animal fat that makes the difference. Not just high protein.

This is misleading. Firstly it is high protein content BUT it is not high protein bioavailability. The protein absorption rate in plant based sources is very low in humans probably below 5%. Protein is high in meat/seafood in both content and bioavailability at 90%. You need get both right. In addition, the ingredients in granola may be from GMO sources, which means the food source is from the laboratory not nature. I basically would categorise this under the processed food category. Granola or its ingredients also has the harmful natural toxin made by the plant called lectin. This is known to cause autoimmune disease. People can lose weight on this type of diet but not in the most healthy and sustainable way. A true high protein diet is meat, seafood and eggs.
@cannuckchick7522
@cannuckchick7522 3 месяца назад
Last time I made granola, the recipe called for baking it for a decent length of time. As with soaking beans and/or cooking them in a pressure cooker, baking breaks down the lectins found in oatmeal.
@CapWalks1
@CapWalks1 3 месяца назад
Exactly!
@wilclemente1800
@wilclemente1800 3 месяца назад
@@cannuckchick7522 Soaking will not remove 100% of the lectin. The max rate of removal is 80-90% with a pressure cooker at high temp around 120°C or 250°F. But you also lose up to 70% of the nutrients as a result of the high temp cooking.
@cannuckchick7522
@cannuckchick7522 3 месяца назад
@@wilclemente1800 cooking diminishes many nutrients while enhancing the bioavailability of some. And unless a person has a specific health issue, the amount of lectins in a balanced diet is not considered harmful. Per Harvard, there are benefits to lectins (slowing digestion which improves blood sugar) and in large population studies, where lectin rich foods are associated with weight loss, lower rates of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. As with most things, “it depends” and the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
@wilclemente1800
@wilclemente1800 3 месяца назад
@@cannuckchick7522 Animal proteins have higher bioavailability compared to plant proteins. This is because animal proteins contain ALL essential amino acids in proportions similar to those required by the human body. High digestibility, measured by the Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS) or Digestible Indispensable Amino Acid Score (DIAAS). While PDCAAS has been the gold standard for many years, the DIAAS is emerging as a more accurate method for evaluating protein quality. Beef typically has a PDCAAS of 0.92-1.0. Plant proteins typically range from 0.5 to 0.7. These are baseline measurements used by the FDA. I can show you other gold standards in the measurement or analysis of blood-glucose, cardio vascular disease, anti-nutrients measurements, etc if you like - there is no need to read biased Harvard studies. Why cite a study on these things when there are already hard facts about them.
