As a born and raised New Yorker whose been to countless Rangers, Knicks, WWE, Circus, and Indoor Tennis matches at MSG for 30 years...RVD is right. MSG (built in 1968) is a dated building. Its old, its amenities are old, its too small (hence overcrowded), the concession stands are old and dated, Penn Station which is directly below it is as dated. Everything there is just Obsolete compared to other sporting venues. WORSE is the fact for having such a dated stadium the owners (the Dolan family) still charge premium rates for tickets for a Stadium well past its prime. The subject of tearing down MSG has been discussed for years, but it make finally being coming to fruition in the next 5 years as the city wants to rebuild Penn Station (which is directly underneath it and they own the land that MSG is built on (Dolans) just own the building. Meaning in the next 5 years the city might refuse to renew MSG permit. Both Shea and the Original Yankee Stadium were demolished in the early 2000s to make way for new stadiums, yet MSG remains. Its time for it to go. I would say with a heavy heart because it is an awesome experience (especially basketball) but seriously the building is just too old now.

I got tired of the repetitive talking points from the WWF about msg. The place even had its own article in WWF or Raw Magazine. When they’re on Raw they refer to the building numerous times that I just switched channels. Vince and talent go on about the building being the best arena with best matches. Well if you book a show specifically for it and the talent perform at a level greater than any other place then of course it will be memorable. I swear Vince probably interviewed his talent and they all had to put msg over while maintaining an erection “Nothing half mast, pal.” My nearest arena is the Alamodome and that place hosted the 1997 Royal Rumble, the WWF Magazine had a two page photo of the place packed. But yeah let’s focus and praise the building the size of Alamodome’s parking lot.

It just looks like any other arena now visually as well. Years ago you used to know when watching they were at MSG.
