This is a nice ride. I had a 2 door 1972 Newport. Outstanding car. It saved me & the misses when we got picked up by a tornado in Mo. off the highway. Love those big cars man. It didn't fall apart on landing and we never got a scratch. Scared but ok. Love to have another from 1969-73 models/2 doors. P.S. Hope that the Lord shines bright on your behalf. Best of wishes.

How the system works is customs here or in the States pick containers randomly to check, I am told if your container is randomly picked in the States it is a minimum of $5,000 cost to the customer, it has now become a gamble on wether your container is pulled in to be checked

When you ship a car once it is unloaded you are allowed 5 days free to come and collect it, I have always collected the car within that 5 days so has never been a problem, this time customs decide that they want to do a container check which is fine by me, but what your not told is all the time your property is in the container sat at the docks is costing £80 a day storage, which I am told is split between the shipping company, the warehouse, and the port. As I see it the container is being held through no fault of mine so why am I being made liable to pay. I also have to pay the £80 customs charge for an X-ray

You should have drove it to Halifax NS or even St John's NFLD. At least there you will be closer to your destination and would find shipping companies that are far more trustworthy and reliable. There are way too many scavenger agencies involved with shipping in Toronto or anywhere else along the St Lawrence Seaway.
@MrThompsonusa
@MrThompsonusa 7 месяцев назад
I agree with you, the ship was supposed to go from Montreal to Germany and then to Felixstowe, for some reason it was taken off the ship in Germany and then went to Rotterdam and finally arrived in England on December 1st 7 days later than scheduled, and now it’s just sat there gaining £80 a day storage fees. I imported a '64 Chrysler 300 Silver Special from Arizona to New Zealand. The ad went 'WOW, Survivor.' Arrived. Floor and sills gone, roof had fist-sized holes. Broke me. But then I imported a '62 Dart, and it was good. I hope you get resolution, but you have your trip and photos as a memory. I heard a horror story of a '66 Mustang arriving in Australia. When it was time to uplift, it'd been entirely stripped. MAF decided any potential source of asbestos had to go. Hi, Thanks for your input, UK Border force held the car for 42 days, they are saying that it happened due to staff shortages, that’s a load of rubbish, it happened because they don’t want to work, Maersk the shipping line charged me a total of £2,574 in storage charges plus someone else had a little hot rod in the shared container so that’s £2,574 x 2 so well over £5,000 in storage charges, I am doing an update on this scam, I am waiting to hear back from customs complaints department but I doubt they will even be interested, the Chrysler I brought in Saskatoon Saskatchewan last June and we took a road trip across Canada in September and then shipped it to the UK, I have put some videos of the trip on RU-vid. I absolutely agree, you are being forced to accept being robbed, they have held the container now since December 2nd and it is now January 4th, it turns out that everybody gets a cut of the fee, Maersk the shipping company, the port of Felixstowe, and the warehouse that’s holding the container. @kingstownshipping are the messenger and collector of the extortion money, which makes them complicit in this scam
@electrichellion5946
@electrichellion5946 7 месяцев назад
That is a wrong go on for too long. Unlikely to stop because a few people in the offices needed to allow the process to continue pick and choose what containers they will put on hold as the black markets preorders on file get filled for pennys on the dollar and pure profit for the plausible deniability of those in charge. Sorry bout the losses suffered.
@MrThompsonusa
@MrThompsonusa 7 месяцев назад
I am told that Customs never pull containers owned by Amazon and FedEx. It’s all a big con, the longer it goes on the more money they make in storage fees. The customer also has to pay Customs £80 for the X-ray of the container, now we see why there is a minimum 5 week backlog and can go on for 90 days. Customs did the X-ray on the 3rd of December and they waited until the 7th of December to decide they wanted to do an open container check
@joeordinary209
@joeordinary209 7 месяцев назад
One thing is for sure, customs will not pay anything. The next question is, is the shipping company making a business of this? They are probably charged by the terminal for storage fees/ day, but the fees re not always back to back what they are charging customers...If its a part cargo, if they are really greedy, they will charge the full amount from each customer, instead of pro rata....You are probably considered the "merchant"( if You are the shipper paying the freight), and if You look at the waybill, there is a lot of small print about the responsibilities of the Merchant. As this is a part cargo, you should have little less responsibilities compared to a full container load IMHO. It might be that its actually a forwarder you are dealing with, that is often the case for part cargoes in containers.
@MrThompsonusa
@MrThompsonusa 7 месяцев назад
They are definitely charging the full price, after doing some research I find that there are hundreds of containers given up each year because the storage fees eventually becomes more value than the goods inside. I am also told that customs never pull containers owned by Amazon and FedEx
