Great Interview didn't know that he and Clapton wrote a song For "The Color of Money" Movie I know about His Great Song From "Ladder 49" Called "Shine Your Light"
Steve Veasey, I'm a musician, when musicians record a set of songs they all nearly always refer to it as a record. Not necessarily in the sense of a piece of vinyl, but that it's a record, a representation, of what they've just done. That's what he means.
This is the most open I have heard Robbie talking about the drugs and the darkness associated with it. Although he talks about it in his book. I wonder if the fact that Robbie was physically abused by his stepfather had something to do with his demons. He talks about it in his book, and it is heartbreaking.
Always enjoy listening to Robertson tell his stories (good storyteller) but they could have cut out the interviewer for my money - don't miss him at all.
I'm ok with the show, I know what to expect. But, I have a hard time with the pop-filter touching the foam on Jian's microphone. Without some space the pop-filter is useless
I've never heard Robbie calling himself American, not that is anything bad. He was born and raised outside of Toronto. His mother was a Mohawk and his father was from TO also. He learned music and played in TO, met Ronnie Hawkins in TO. So why is his Canadian-ness incidental?
Robbie definitely had some pain in his early life. He grew up with a stepfather that was physically abusive to both Robbie and his mother. He then found out his real father had died before he was born. The addiction of his band members were a source of pain for him.
This is a great interview but its getting grating hearing people constantly refer to 'records' when new music is produced, I know there is a tiny vinyl market still but in reality nobody makes 'records' anymore.
I don't think so. In other interviews he explains that he was doing other things. However, he never stood in the way of them peforming as The Band, for which they needed his persmission, which he gave gladly.
