I just moved out of my parents house and when my dad gave me a lift to the train station he told me to listen to this song and think of him. I swear i started crying so much when i heard it.

Robbie has softened up now that he's a dad--lovely song.

My dad showed me this song today and had told me that everytime he hears this song, he thinks of me. I’m Deaf with CIs so when he played this song, I missed a few words and am just watching the lyrics video and it has made me cry again haha. Love my dad so much and it saddens me I don’t see him often enough but when we do, he gives me these sweet memories ❤️

Strangely, I was listening to the live debut of this song on BBC Radio 4's Mastertapes...Robbie was getting a bit teary talking about his daughter and my phone buzzed with a message from my dad (Robert), listening to ‘Go Gentle’ from far away: “I thought about you and had tears the whole time. Ooh, this is the sort of RW stuff i love. Sentimental and melodic, up there with Eternity and Road to Mandalay. Heard it on the background system in a KFC (of all places) the other day and knew at once who it was. How'd I miss this one when it came out? His stuff doesn't seem to get too much airplay anymore, I guess he's 'too old' for the likes of Capital FM.
