I live in Ireland so there's mostly Chinese restaurants, kebab shops etc but I know I'd love Mexican food. Closest Mexican restaurant is 50 minutes away from me and only sells burritos :(

Well there's a pretty big difference between the culture, landmass, even the way people live. Though i know you don't mean offense, i still find it disrespectful to think Japan as a would be china. Seeing as well Japan and China have this no friendly dispute among them Though if you still can't put your figure on what's different, how about you try researching there cultures and basically everything about them. i find it fun to see other places and would eventually want to travel around someday. Just don't be ignorant is what I'm saying.
