I still felt it was a disappointing ending and they could have done more for closure and brining back old characters like Kalinda. I'll watch the episode again to see if I missed anything, but on a scale of 1-10 right now I rate it as a 6.
One and only show I love to rewatch every season every time. Each episode is jam packed with brilliant writing, acting anddirection that you will never feel bored
I like the last Episode. It Shows that Will is always be her 1st love, everything else is just a 2nd solution. I LOVE the claps, prove Alicia is now an active Player in the game and not the holy Alicia anymore... The circle is closed and I dont Need a perfect Happy End. Since Wills dead it's for her never possible anymore.
Completely agree. She threw away her chance of a happy ending with Will, and when he died that chance disappeared forever. She acknowledges that she will never be truly happy without Will and has come to accept that. At the same time, she became the very thing she hated at the beginning of the show. A really good ending to one of the best shows ever made. I would have loved to have seen her end up with Will, but with him dead, this was the best conclusion they could have given it.
Just finished watching the show. To me Alisha was very annoying in the beginning, I hated that she was always victimizing herself and not making decisions in her life. Now finally on the last season she started taking care of herself and taking responsibility for her actions. Personally I find the ending perfect. In my experience life usually gives you falls feeling of things going your way and tends to take them away at the last minute, tables turn and you never know where you'll end up, what you do is you pick yourself up, straighten your jacket and move on. And that's as an empowering ending as one gets.
I don't think you know what a woman goes through when she wasn't working outside of the home. Staying home raising her family and going back to work is sure scary for any woman that's not been working for quite some time. It truly scares every woman even if they don't admit it to anyone. So, victimizing herself - was trying to prove to herself she can do the work and be capable.
It wasn't a great ending, but a GOOD ending. Sure, it didn't give closure on many levels, but in my opinion this was the main characteristic of the whole show, which made it more realistic, relatable and deeper than other shows with yet another happy ending. Maybe people, who didn't like the ending might find relief in the rumor about a possible spin off.
Though it wasn't the ending we longed for, it was the only sensible way to end. I mean we fans would be happy if Alicia and Jason united, but the climax was a reminder that life won't always be kind to you. It will raise you up, and then like a rollercoaster ride drops you down without you knowing how deep you fall. Really wished Juliana to make an appearance in TGF.
After seven years I will say what nobody dared to say bakc in the day, IT WAS NOT A GOOD ENDING, so many thing remained unclosed, we didn't even get to see Alicia as mayor or getting back her dignity and power she always deserved. Sorry for everyone who can't admit we deserved a better ending.
rewatching the show. watched it the first time when it was on. loved it EVEN more the second time around. even seasons 6 and 7, which, back in the day, i did not like, i now found AMAZING. i love love love love this ending. it is perfect.
I am still in grief for the loss of the show and the actors who have been stellar throughout all the seasons ... it was a shock to me that the show was ending ... there's so much more that can be told ... is there a spin off for us? Depending on the actors, I could definitely be up for that.
CBS please please give us a movie of TGW! A lil twist to the ending with Will & Alicia! Julianna was amazing reacting to the slap! An Emmy worth moment! Love love her!
Watching Alicia’s transformation over the 7 seasons was amazing. She was a completely different person when she was slapped by Diane in the last episode. But it wasn’t her first time betraying Diane, so was she really a different person or finally fully embracing who she was always supposed to be?
It's a shame that these writers are so pompous in thinking that the show either had to end with slap or her chasing a man onto a train. As if the audience is too dimwitted if they didn't agree with the slap ending. In the end both of those endings were the wrong ending to this show. If anything she ended up even weaker than before. Chasing after a man? Seriously, 7 seasons later and it ends with her leaving Peter to chase after another man, sad. And no matter how you try to explain it, it's obvious that slap ending was just a gimmick. Sadly the last 2 seasons was just a total disappointment, just like the series finale.
Totally agree with you. What lawyers of that caliber resort to physical violence with witnesses these days anyway. They're all too good at burning each other with gossip and smearing reputations with clients and judges. I was disappointed with Diane's character arc as well; constantly pining after Kurt, the show bringing up that thorn in her side of his sleeping with one of his students. I was so hoping that Diane would just divorce him and end her days after work snuggled up in a blanket with a wine glass devising ways to kick ass. It always seems that women are stuck on this idea of forever marriages as a keystone to their own dignity and sense of self worth while men just kick down those Legos the moment a good deal presents itself. Marriage smarriage. She'll stick around regardless because of the kids or she believes in this forever stuff or she's already given so much more into this marriage than I have she's never leaving until she gets her payback but haha the scales never tip her way. She's stuck.
I am totally let down. This ending was terrible. The writers had an agenda that completely ignored the fans. I wasn't looking forward to a slap. That was not important to me or other viewers. What was important was to have some resolution. And the apparent move towards leave things hanging in the air only shows the lack of skills to write and tie up a great series in a meaningful manner.
with the pandemic I had time to watched to the end and hate it so much hoping to see Alicia run to Jason's arms feel the love in her life finally would have made me so happy
I think the ending made all sense, yes she stood beside him all through but finally was doing something for herself and yes she did choose Jayson but most importantly self love, she went with what she felt this time, not for her family not for her firm not for press and people but for herself, though Jayson didn't stay alil longer to be with her, sad but that's Jayson character. If it gets complicated he quickly moves on before he gets stuck. I actually loved the ending. Hope she will come back and kick ass in that governors seat🍻, and bring calimda back since Jayson is out, or bring them both back and lets see the creativity.
TBH I think Alicia deserves a good ending for what she has put through. Losing Will Gardner was tough already but they should've got Jason and her close.
This was a BS ending/Finale to such a gripping and intelligent drama series. It was like the writers couldn’t really figure out what to do. They were probably trying for some sensational ending but just ended up confused and delivered a dud - completely anti climactic ! Disappointed!
Got the creatives' idea of a good wife but we don't deserve an end like this. They made Alicia a good wife but showed her as a bad friend, also who failed to find her lover. Absurd
i honestly loved the ending. i loved how anticlimactic it was. it really made me feel like alicia was just going to keep going on even though the show as over
seeing the scenes from the pilot juxtaposed with those mirrored scenes from the finale, all I can think is "oh Julianna, what have you done to your face?"
I just completed the series Ans watched the last episode. I am confused and speechless. what was that ending ?! A bitter truth of life??? The finale was good and very gripping . But the end was not worth it all, All those 7 seasons ! It was like the writers couldn't think what's best for Alicia or as confused as her of who to choose and so left it hanging like that !! Very sad and confusing ..
well, we did have fun while it lasted.... bitter aftertaste though for 2 reasons: learning a month or so ago that the series would end (I mean... duuuhhh) and the super disappointing finale plot.... unless you decide to make a movie out of it, to put things in place. No closure, just pretty vague indications. I believe we deserved sth way better... Seeing Will was *yayyyyy*.....
God, Alicia was very ungrateful. The "Firm" took her on when nobody wanted her, but let's face facts, you can't be 100% Loyal to anyone. I saw this in The Music Business. Jermaine Jackson "Stays" at Motown instead of going to Epic with his Brothers as The Jackson Five. He's married to The Boss's Daughter and they lead him to believe he could one day Run Motown. It doesn't happen. Warren Cuccurollo works with Duran Duran during their lowest period and when they do the "Reunion" Show he's dropped like a Hot Potato. Then there's Danny Serafin in Chicago who played Drums who also got Fired as well.
the thing that came across to me was the incredible amount of STRESS! how could you not have a massive ulcer between work, backstabbing, betrayal, greed, children, and on.
The ending sucks it wasn't good at all they should have just gave it a happy ending she finally found happiness with Jason her and Diane started an all-woman firm I mean there was just so much more things I could have done with the characters 💔
I got so engaged in the story that I don’t even remember the first slap, but saw the last one coming, but this is one of the Most disappointing series, finales of one of my favorite shows ever. After all, Alicia went through with Peter, she deserves a happy ending with Jason, since Will will always be the long, lost love that got away, and could never ever return. I mean seriously, who could walk away from Jason. I’d follow him to the ends of the Earth. The character and the actor. In my mind, he waited for her, and…
After watching the whole series and the, to say the least, a disappointing ending I am done with dramatic tv shows. A drama should always have a suitable ending for the viewer that became invested in the show. These people showed they didn't care about closure for the loyal fans that made them rich watching the show, instead, they wanted to try and be clever by leaving so many unanswered questions.
I thought the ending 100% represented the essence of the Show! No ending of any great television show will ever be COMPLETELY satisfying, because it's the ending, In My Opinion iykyk I am SUCH a great appreciator of everything The KiNG's do gigantic EVIL (I washed all the opening credits kings because I didn't want weird mojo in my world! very clever The good wife The good fight! what's next? king me
I LOVED this show, the entire series, but was really disappointed in the ending. Hated the burned bridge with Diane. Wanted resolution with Cary. Wished for some comeuppance for David, ugh.
Yeah, as you said, the big question was "what's next?" Too bad you guys did not do anything to answer that. Ending with a slap was a great writing. But without any real conclusion to Alicia's story, it was meaningless. A complete waste.
ALICIA TURNS TO THE DARKSIDE... ... 🤔 ... The world of Man shall fall: Darkness rises and Light to meet it... ...and the Light shines in Darkness; and the Darkness comprehended it not... -- John 1: 5. 😟
Sete temporada foi ruim,não gostei não teve emoção, não a ver a traição de alicia com Jason, seria melhor por tudo q passaram se alicia se vai negasse da karlinda terminando cary.
