Robert Burns...who really knows, really understands The Bard? I don't believe anyone can do that. Robert Burns left us nothing of his mind and his thoughts except his words. He was dedicated to the ethos of brotherly love, relief and truth. In my humble opinion, Robert as a humanist wrote these words in belief that we are all equal and that any differences between us are falsehoods, made to divide A Man's A Man For A' That 1795 Is there for honest Poverty That hings his head, an' a' that; The coward slave-we pass him by, We dare be poor for a' that! For a' that, an' a' that. Our toils obscure an' a' that, The rank is but the guinea's stamp, The Man's the gowd for a' that. What though on hamely fare we dine, Wear hoddin grey, an' a that; Gie fools their silks, and knaves their wine; A Man's a Man for a' that: For a' that, and a' that, Their tinsel show, an' a' that; The honest man, tho' e'er sae poor, Is king o' men for a' that. Ye see yon birkie, ca'd a lord, Wha struts, an' stares, an' a' that; Tho' hundreds worship at his word, He's but a coof for a' that: For a' that, an' a' that, His ribband, star, an' a' that: The man o' independent mind He looks an' laughs at a' that. A prince can mak a belted knight, A marquis, duke, an' a' that; But an honest man's abon his might, Gude faith, he maunna fa' that! For a' that, an' a' that, Their dignities an' a' that; The pith o' sense, an' pride o' worth, Are higher rank than a' that. Then let us pray that come it may, (As come it will for a' that,) That Sense and Worth, o'er a' the earth, Shall bear the gree, an' a' that. For a' that, an' a' that, It's coming yet for a' that, That Man to Man, the world o'er, Shall brothers be for a' that.

They disrespected, defiled and ignored his last wishes by firing over his coffin. Burns last words were "Don't let the awkward squad fire over me."

I blogged a Scot on u-tube today saying Robert Burns was a Scottish poet I was referring to something I wrote to him which he accused rambling Burns is actually the Scottish poet He that wrote My love is like a red, red rose Only he could have said equally My love is like the red, red rose Indeed, Robert the poet Only one Scottish person needed this explained, and of course his name was neither Robert nor Burns And it wasn't, or isn't, Burns Night Just dark with one light, as the name origin says, Famous and Bright And here is the name in capitals again ROBERT EWING. Awaken from your dream Scotland, the reality is far better.

Two things that are truly wrong. Jean's father, James Armour was NOT happy about Robert Burns at all. He chased after him as Burns was putting his poetry POEMS: CHIEFLY IN THE SCOTTISH DIALECT to print. Why? Because Armour wanted Burns in jail. He was trying to make money to escape to Jamaica then once the poems came out saw the merit in them. Thankfully, he made in to Edinburgh and became the man we know today. Jean didn't become Mrs Burns for a very long time. The second time she became pregnant with twins by Burns, her father threw her out. That was during the three months not 12 month Clarinda/Sylvander love affair on paper. Burns could care less that Jean was at Willie Muir's home. He wanted one thing and it wasn't on paper. He did love Clarinda just not totally as he wished.
