I am so impressed with how thorough you are and the work you put into studying this man. He is definitely a sociopath with many other related.ental illnesses. Urinating makes me think he might have some sort of dementia or other brain deficiency. He likely has killed more than we know. I followed him on TV and heard him say that he killed them all. His behavior and the negitive and irrationally pronounced voice in his head, leads me to conclude that defence council should enter a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. He may have known right from wrong at times but the amplified voice in his head seemed to override rationality. He certainly had diminished ability to act with reason and restraint. He wants to take control the family business but is peeing in trash cans and doesnt have enough were withall to stop talking to himself while in meetings. ( I would imagine he was saying some strange things to get booted from the company. His family owned the place!) Peeing on a candy display l is a clear cut break from reality in my opinion and would be consistent with other behaviors. He wants to stay unnoticed from police but his strange behaviour is drawing attention. Maybe his intellegence was keeping him from a complete break from reality. It seems to be a constant struggle with him to stay sane. It is logical that he should be confined to a mental health facility.( If found guilty)

Wonder if he'll try the "affluenza" defense? Speaking of which, I'd like to see your take on that, both regarding treating patients, and its validity as a legal defense or mitigating factor.

i heard no mention of a particular highly revelatory and macabre episode of durst's life: he had a dog named igor that went missing, was replaced multiple times by another dog of the same breed that would also be named igor and would also subsequently disappear, over and over. he was heard to use the word igor as a verb apparently meaning murder. the theory i buy is that he was practicing vivisection and cadaver concealment, and maybe getting some cheap thrill-kills in

Your explanation of Cognitive versus Affective Empathy makes SO much sense. I’ve been told psychopaths are forced to imitate “normal” behavior to avoid detection. Is Durst’s bathroom sound clip an example of a psychopath strategy session? It seems the clip caught him in the act of weaving a sheep’s 🐑 cloak for himself. If so- it’s truly chilling to note how calm he is.

I've immersed myself in a lot of true crime and I still felt uncomfortable watching "the jinx" alone at night sometimes. Even though I knew how the documentary ended, I still got chills in the final scene. Such a cold, odd human. Truth is really stranger than fiction.

This was very interesting. I hadn’t heard of the three additional murders until today. If those deaths may be attributed to Durst then he could more clearly be suffering from psychopathy and is extremely dangerous as long as he remains at large.

There's a movie about this called _All Good Things_ with Ryan Gosling as Durst and Kirsten Dunst as Kathy. (Their name is Marks in this film). It is a film I recommend and shows just how creepy Durst is. Regarding the movie he said, "Kirsten Dunst was nearly perfect as Kathy, but Gosling wasn't good looking enough to play me." Another murdering, narcissistic a**hole Thank you Dr Grande 👍🌹

Hello dr. Grande :) You are a gem for true crime enthusiasts like myself. Objective, entertaining aand structured in your analysis. I consider entering jungian analytic theraphy and although you ve made a video few years back. I would really appreciate some more content about Jung. Especially mental health analysis of his encounter with the unconscious pre ww1 as described in Red book. Thats pretty out there and his state could have been pathological. It would be an interesting perspective on your side.

I've just discovered your interesting channel, and have been binge watching to catch up. Your approach of analysis, objectivity and dry humor has a lot of true crime fans, myself included. I watched the Lizzie Borden video. 👍 I've read many books documentaries, about her, and, I still can't decide that one. I'd like it if you delved into more of the very old infamous murder cases. One murder case that fascinates me is the murderous maids, the Papin sisters, that occurred in Le Mans, France, Febuary 2nd, 1933.

I liked very much your analysis and the video too! As I'm watching the trial is being made these days I have to tell you that the alleged call from Kathy durst to the deem of the medical school had made on the first 1 of January 1982 on Monday one day after her disappearance, and not the fourth day! Thank you again for your videos!

Consistently interesting content! Dear Dr, Would you consider looking at the large disparities between diagnosis of clients from professionals trained in similar disciplines. Its seem that CBT and psycho dynamic disciplines nearly always disagree on famous cases you discuss. Of course even mechanics disagree sometimes but its still interesting and worrying. What do you make of this I wonder. Thanks again.

I knew Susan Berman when I was a kid; we went to the same school. She grew up to be a really good writer. I believe Robert Durst killed her to cover up what she knew about the disappearance of his wife years ago. I, too, am interested in seeing how Durst comes out in the trial for Berman's murder. I believe he will be convicted this time.
