Some guys with brittle hands prefer a more protective glove (like winning). Punches prefer a more damaging glove (like cleto reyes). If a glove is approved by the commission, fighters can use what they like. This was just another instance of Floyd being a little bitch to get an edge.

A less skilled puncher will want a harder punchers glove. A technician like Floyd who blocks a lot of punches, and is known to have hand problems is going to want a softer, bigger glove with more padding to protect his hands and to block punches easier.
