I DONT GET WHY SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HATING ROBERT. It's not his fault if he's a smartass, know how to play that fuckn game of thrones and is the first born son.
Btw, the bond between mother and son is beautiful here. We can see how much Helena relies on Robert.

I ADORE Robert, even with the machiavellian twists of the finale. He's a troubled, interesting character. He's manipulative but vulnerable, not your typical villain but not a good guy either. He's kept me interested this season while Liam has been a whiny sanctimonious tool! Great vid!

Oh I know how you feel. Robert's not pure evil like everybody is portraying him. He's a smartass, with a thing for revenge, but I think there's a line that even him don't dare to cross, and because of that he's also a good person.

CharliMill My thoughts exact! I love machiavellian characters because they are more human than all the "good" ones. A lot of people hate him because of what he said to Kathryn but I actually liked him even more at that moment. All the time Kayhryn was playing the victim stuck between 2 brothers while it was only her fault. She totally deserved that. Its amazing how Rob has everyone wrapped around his finger in such a short while. He's amazing

I would've stopped watching this show if it wasn't for Robert. I have to commend Max Brown for handling the different sides of his character and giving him layers. Prince Robert is not a saint, he definitely has flaws and entitlement but this was the son that was raised by Helena, Simon, and even Cyrus to be king and he is a product of that upbringing. People hate him because they want Liam to be king, who is too young and naive to handle the throne still. Robert is ready and hating him will not change history. Long live King Robert. (Sorry for the rant, lovely video btw).

HELL YEAH!!! I'm only watching this season bc of him. Like you said, Robert is not a saint, but he is not the villain either. He knows how to play this game, and I gave him all the reasons to be fighting for what should be his. Liam wasn't meant to be the king, and we can clearly see he still too naive to handle all the things a crown give to a person. Almost always is solitude, headache and sometimes blood. Liam is a fool for thinking a crown could be good. Robert is saving him. LONG LIVE KING ROBERT!!! Ah, thanks ❤

I think largely what makes Liam thinks that the crown can be good is King Simon's example but Simon was raised like Robert to be king and in the end was disillusioned by it. I think the crown would change Liam for the worse and he's simply not ready, he's reckless and impulsive and thinks too much with his heart and not enough with his head and common sense (seriously, why is he going for his brother's girlfriend?).

The only contention I have with Robert right now is his story line with Kathryn. I believe he will follow tradition and marry someone of the right background (Willow?) and it does seem like he is using her and leading her on.

YES, YES, YES!!!!! Like Robert said, Liam is so naive. He's not ready. The crown would broken him. But Robert?? Robert is ready, Robert was raised for this, unlike Liam and Eleanor. And yeah, Liam had Willow in front of him and yet he chose to pick the most difficult and forbidden girl in this world for him.

Ia responder em inglês, mas fico muito exaltada quando o assunto é Robert Henstridge, meu filho amado e pouco apreciado. CLARAMENTE, PODEMOS VER, DESDE A S1 QUEM DEVERIA TER SIDO REI, NÃO É MESMO?????! Olha só a comoção da população....Sem contar que o Robert sempre foi o favorito de todo mundo até na área familiar. Cyrus pode ser o que ele é, mas com as poucas cenas que ele compartilhou com o Robert, a gente viu que eles dois no passado tiveram uma interação entre tio e sobrinho até que saudável - na medida do possível. Ou seja, Robert tinha uma relação boa com a família inteira, um verdadeiro diplomata (e jogador, oi hhehehehe esse daí sim tem culhão pra ganhar esse jogo e ainda fazer a pessoa se matar sozinha, só usando as palavras), e deixemos claro que ele com certeza foi treinado pelo Simon a vida toda. POR ISSO QUE ME RECUSO A ACREDITAR QUE ELE PODE TER MATADO O SIMON. Era o pai dele, pelo amor de cristo rei. Se alguém podia bater de frente com o Robert, esse alguém era o Simon e certeza que ele próprio conheceria o filho, afinal, foi ele mesmo quem treinou o Robert pra ser quem ele é. Thank you for an Awesome Vid of King Robert. Robert was betrayed by Liam & Kathryn and they both concealed it. They deserved his wrath. Robert only wants the best for his little sister Eleanor and wants to make sure that she is really in love with Jasper. He still might not like Jasper but he will eventually do it for Eleanor’s sake (because she is happy) Same with Queen Helena and Spencer King Robert learned all of his tricks from his family and knew everything. I love Robert, but his character is made unrealistic, if he wanted crown so much why hadn't returned earlier? He was prince who was loved by everyone, and now they are making him absolute evil? guilty in every crime? WTF? it is not realistic. and Liam is so annoying with his aggressive behavior... ever since Robert returned he is so mean and suspicious to him. Liam is the one who isn't acting like good brother!

The writers trying to portraying him as a villain is nonsense. It seems he choose to be alone on a island because Simon said to him that he wouldn't be king, after all these years he was taught, when all his life what he learn was how to be a king. I can't think for even a second that he's the bad one here. He's not. Simon tried to abolish the monarchy, failed. Liam tried to be king, ignoring all that "abolish monarchy" thing, and failed. Robert came back, and suceed. That's all. People should accept this, also Liam.

exactly! and that Simon thing was nonsense too, to tall little kid "you wouldn't be good king", wtf, how he could know? and 21th century king doesn't have to be perfect anyway :D those kind speeches and dialogs are soo bullshit :D sometimes I think those writers are from Mars :D I always watched this show for Eleanor and now I liked Robert, he was more real character and really royal way handsome. but they gone too far... and Liam... why people like this kind of whiny pussy "good boys"? and btw he didn't wanted throne first time, because of that same cliche - good guys doesn't want throne, power and money... bullshit :D

This is by far my favorite The Royals video and I've been on a binge watch for the past 2 weeks so that's saying something lol. Excellent job on the editing, song selection and character study. In my opinion, The Royals really needed a character like Robert. Season 2 was filled with far too much of Cyrus's nonsense that went completely unchecked. Cyrus only works when you have a character that balances him out. King Simon did that in season 1 but since he died there was a need for a rational, thoughtful character and neither Eleanor, Liam or Helena fill that mark. They're too impulsive. Coming back to your comment about not getting why people hate Robert. I don't either. At the end of season 2 when it became clear that they were going to bring him back from the dead, I was really against the idea. The Royals has never been a show with great writing or really thought provoking story lines but one thing that worked from the beginning was the awesome chemistry between all the lead actors. Introducing a major character so late in the game could have completely disrupted the flow of the show or became irrelevant very, very quickly. Instead, and I think major kudos are due to Max Brown for this, not only did that not happen but on the contrary, he has brought a gravitas and a new fresh perspective to the show that has made it better. Robert is by no means a perfect guy or even a completely good one. He is Machiavellian character but I enjoy him immensely. With each passing week I'm more drawn to his story line and his relationship with Willow than I am even to Eleanor and Jasper's (and they were by far my favorite characters/couple on the show for the first 2 seasons). I really hope we get a season 5 so we can spend more time with this character as well as The new, and improved, Royals as a whole. #renewtheroyals

methosimortal a lot of fans would hate robert since first day even If he was a good guy, he is an obstacle for Liam becoming king, as it seems. that is the only thing that many fans care about, they just want King Liam, although I don't see how Liam would be a good king, he would just be good because the plot and being the protagonist, in real life he would not be. Also, people hate Robert because he intervened in Jaspenor's relationship, although I really asked how people thought that a member of a royal family would agree with his sister being with her bodyguard, an ex-thief that went to palace for robbing, that blackmailed her in order to have sex and had sleep with his mother too.

I love your video and I love the Robert character which I find to be one of the most interesting and complex on the show! I hope that now that the new season begins his character will be highlighted and I hope that the fanservice to liam does not damage his character. I have not seen the interview you're talking about, but I'll try to find it! I was disappointed by the episode 4x01 .the scenes with robert I liked a lot but everything else makes me think only that will try to make Robert the villain rewriting and ignoring the past seasons! Liam then instead of growing as a character, as I once hoped, always disappoints me more. yes I'll be #teamRobert forever too

AMIGA!!! VEM PRO TEAM ROBERT VOCÊ TAMBÉM! Já não aguento mais gente jogando hate nele, quando na realidade, ele nunca faz nada de muito extremo. Robertzinho costuma só falar, ai se a pessoa pesca ou não, é problema dela. Em nenhum momento eu vi ele dando algum ultimato pra alguém de: Ou você faz isso ou você faz isso. Pelo que percebi, ele sempre dá a escolha da pessoa aceitar, ou não. É tipo esse negócio de todo mundo falar que ele arruinou Jaspenor, quando em momento nenhum ele chegou no Jasper e falou: Fica longe da minha irmã e fim. No último episódio ele lançou a proposta pro Jasper, agora se o Jasper vai agarrar ela, é problema dele. Assim como é problema do Liam, se ele tá se sentindo inferiorizado, uma vez que o Robert voltou e tá correndo atrás do que sempre foi o direito DELE. Foi ele quem cresceu ouvindo que seria rei, ele quem foi treinado pra ser rei e eu só consigo imaginar as privações que ele teve por esse motivo. Na s1 a gente viu Eleanor e Liam farreando, enquanto os roteiristas deixaram claro que o Robert sempre foi o mais sério, comportado e que de praxe, tinha fundado uma casa de reabilitação. AGORA, O LIAM FICAR DE NHENHENHE por algo que nunca foi dele e ainda o povo apoiar isso........Aff, tô cansada já. Inclusive, se esse twist do último episódio for Robert tendo alguma relação com a morte do Simon, NÃO VOU ACEITAR. NÃO VAI FAZER SENTIDO ALGUM. Vai ser coisa só para ver a reação do público - que é hate do Robert. E NOSSA ME EXALTEI AQUI, PERDÃO PELO TEXTÃO ELLA. E muito obrigada pelo comentário

i find him so fascinating which I needed with only really Eleanor and Willow left to root for. so it's amazing to have him around and stirring up drama and suffering from trauma and just being really well acted. I just wish for once my ship could have survived haha (Robert/Kathryn Beck/Len Liam/Willow) Amazing video and reminds me of one to this song i saw about Mary in Reign which is an interesting parallel of rulers having to do whatever it takes. EvenAngelsFall Yeah I've loved Max since Spooks and I think you're right that they're going Robert/Willow Liam/Kathryn. It just feels weird since Kathryn was brought in so rushed and lazy and there felt like there was a lot of Liam/Willow build up. I just am a sucker for big dramatic reunions and him hallucinating Kathryn on the island. I was so invested I literally gasped at the reveal. I hope Robert and Willow is done well and not manipulative like Jaspenor (ugh) and Their parents. Which series?

hey sorry for the late reply! Aww it's good to hear this, Max is a amazing actor. I agree with you, the storyline about Kathryn was so rushed, i cant even. Like I said before, I was all the way Team Lillow, but now...Hm. Nope. ME TOO GIRL, ME TOO. I WAS LIKE "WTH???? LIAM LIKES THE GIRL WHO USED TO DATE HIS BROTHER? O-M-G" WELL.......I THINK, Willow & Robert will have a strong and good relationship, he can try to manipulative her but, who he's trying to fool? Willow is a smart girl and already knows everything that is happening. So if she agreed to be with Robert, it's because she wants to give him a chance or because of some another reason we don't know yet. One of the series is Versailles (a amazing serie btw, I recommend) and the another one is a vidder secret 😂😂😂 cant tell bc i don't want to ruin the surprise.
