'Big Shot Rob' opens up about his historic career, including winning championships with 3 different teams: The Lakers, the Spurs, and the Rockets. Horry shares untold stories from the Lakers early 2000 dynasty with Kobe & Shaq and his epic playoff buzzer-beaters. Plus, he talks about the greatness of Hakeem and winning titles in H-town. That said, he was never any better than the third guy on any team he won with and he was usually the fourth or fifth guy. Rick Fox and Derek Harper or Horace Grant or Glen Rice or Ron Harper in Los Angeles were as or more valuable or played more minutes ... In Houston Otis Thorpe and Clyde Drexler were the no. 2's and Vernon was arguably 3rd guy or 2nd guy in 94... Interchangeably with OT. After Clyde in 95, I'd argue Horry was third guy sure. Especially as the progenitor stretch 4 come that postseason in '95 when the PF was such a valuable position in the 1995 playoffs with Horace, Dennis, Barkley, Kukoc, K. Malone... It kind of decided the 95 Championship after the Centers of Robinson and Olajuwon and SHAQ and Smits and Ewing... Horry never averaged more than 10 ppg after Houston for a season. With the Lakers he averaged 6-7 ppg. That's crazy!!!! He was a truly non dribbling Scottie Pippen... He played quiet Pippen position. He didn't set up offenses, lead the break... He made hustle plays, he hit open shots off swingarounds, he got points off of loose balls, tip dunks etc. He was about 1 steal 1 block a game. He wasn't Pippen, he wasn't Magic. He was long, tall, and serviceable. An in the cut assassin... He's an odd all time player. He was almost traded like 3x in Houston... In 94 for Sean Elliot... In 95 you had to think they offered him up for Drexler instead of Thorpe at first... Houston probably just told Portland Drexler is too old @ 19-20 ppg now for Horry, this isn't 1992 anymore! Horry would have been a nice Blazer from 95-98 or further into the 2000's but I'm sure he would have been moved before 99 or 2000 and possibly sooner. Horry was a tweener. A nice piece 🧩 not a no. 2, hardly a no. 3 but a 3b, 3c, 3d, 4, 5, 6, 7th guy... But he in Portland with Clifford Robinson from 95-97 or so... Horry had Kersey elements to his game... Harvey Grant elements. But Houston luckily kept him for Houston fans sake cuz Drexler, Smith, Elie and Cassell and Chilcutt definitely needed Horry to stretch 4 and guard Malone & Barkley and stretch Rodman out of the paint. That said, when Horry played Karl Malone in 97 & 98 with Los Angeles he got his ass handed to him.. And in San Antonio I mean, he was definitely after Parker, Bowen, Ginobili and their other others that ran thru brick 🧱 walls for Duncan and Pop. Horry would have been a nice Mav or HeaT in 05-07... Too bad. I could have used a couple different champions in there besides San Antonio... Their dynasty disagrees with my palette 🎨

I love Big Shot. He's the greatest clutch role player of all time. Everyone knows about the game winning 3's, but Big Shot hit so many clutch shots inside 2 minutes that stopped teams from getting close or put the game out of reach. Not only that, but like he says here; he didn't get respect for his defense. This guy would chase every rebound in crunch time or find a way to get a block. It's awesome to see Big Shot on All The Smoke.

I wouldn’t cal it luck, I would call it him being a great player overall. He was a smart fundamentally sound player that can play defense as well and do the little things other stars don’t like doing. That wins championships, and the only way rob was that good was cuz he worked his ass off to do all those things. Great Coaches that know how to win saw that and got him. There’s a reason the spurs went after him after 2004, and the mavs and heat wanted him too. He was drafted to Houston to complete a championship team, and the lakers got him to complete a championship team too. Dude was a valuable player. He was like a great stretch 4 that can play d and get rebounds. Similar to a what 3 and d players are today

I moved to Houston in '92-95, and Horry was my favourite player. My fav play of his was a fast break 2 on 1, and he was the 1. Blocked the first guy, then blocked the second guy and team went back the other way. Shows that he actually liked playing D.

What made Horry even more dangerous is how long his arms are. Tayshaun Prince almost blocked Horry's game winner in the 2005 finals but Horry's arms were just long enough to get the shot off.

I watched those Rockets teams and I experienced something that I haven't experienced since. Shot clock running down, team's behind, I was never uncomfortable. Whether it was Elie, Max, the Jet or Horry, chances were pretty good. None better than Big Shot Bob.

The second year they won, they won literally coming from behind in every single series, with no homecourt advantage because of their seed but you were never worried at all?? Sure buddy, I believe you.

@Sean Jones When the shot went up, I was more comfortable than I've ever been since. Did I know? Of course not, but I was very confident, buddy.
