I just started seeing his movies, and i cant stope anymore! Very good selection of pictures, and thats a good song also..mad about you! He takes my breath away! Why i wasnt a movie star in the 40 or 50??? Shit!
YUMMY! I wish someone in movies TODAY could project this kind of masculine power. Mitchum had a big, romantic yet dangerous quality and he was one of the great heavies and anti-heroes-- see Night of the Hunter, Cape Fear and any of the noirs he made. I think he's unappreciated overall.
Indeed the classic tough guy. Whenever I am flooded with Oprah and the like in the media and at work, etc. and the subtle beginning of loss of male identity that follows, I think of men like Robert Mitchum and everthing is right again.
Parabéns pelo ótimo trabalho que homenagem linda a esse que é um dos maiores atores de todos os tempos grandes filmes grandes atuações parabéns e obrigado saudoso Robert mitchum
What an amazing actor! Although often type-casted as merely a "tough guy," his ability is undeniable. Even in death, he was upstaged by James Stewart who died the following day. R.I.P. Robert Mitchum. Even ten years later, you are still missed.
Remembering Robert Mitchum on the 12th anniversary of his death. An underrated leading man in my opinion. Loved his cool laid-back style and his unassuming modesty in 'real life'. He was a great screen villain - one of the best of the film noir era.
Mitchum, Richard Burton, and Jimmy Coburn had this aura in my opinion... I can't think of any others right now, but I will... My point is so few have it. This 'silence of the lambs' guy in my opinion is such a poor man's Burton its unbelievable. Ah, De Niro had it too, which is just as well, since he covered Mitchum's role in one such movie I believe... But so few had this aura. Here's to the aura!
Robert Mitchum is awesome. My favorite films of his are Cape Fear, Night Of The Hunter, and Winds Of War. Anyone else share their opions ,(sorry if misspelled),? Open Replys right here
MITCHUM,was ahead of his time as a screen actor ,I just read Baby I Dont Care.how he lived to 80 is remarkable ,drinking, cannabis, womanising and music, played a big part in his very full life. As a fan of film noir ,Out of the Past aka Build My Gallows High is one of his best movies, but if you watch his very early films he seems so natural compared to his co stars. His wife Dorothy somehow remained devoted to him.
Mitchum se autodefinía "Soy un poeta con un hacha" Excelente descripción de este actorazo en el libro de Shirley Maclaine "Mis estrellas favoritas" un saludo daniel
Mitchum was one of the greatest screen actors ever. Totally believable in everything but never more so than in Cape Fear which may have been his best role. He NEVER seemed to be acting. Talk about a natural. Mitchum was to acting what Dean Martin was to singing. Total cool.
the Killers was at the top of a long list of Mitchum favorties along with Out of the Past He was one of a kind won't ever be another that reefer bust he called the incarceration at the work farm as "like Palm Springs without the riff raff!" and that photo of him in the LA county jail leaning on a mop of that he said "best vacation in years" can't beat those comments with a fuckin' stick!
And DeNiro remaking Cape Fear was a crime against cinema and an insult to Mitchum and Gregory Peck who both did a superlative job of acting in that great film. Why do they re-make films that are classics? What is the point?
@xgs724 it wasn"t because he didnt want to work with a black actor he argued that it would never have happened black and white would never have been chained together in the segregated south and i guess he would have known as he had been on a chain gang himself. the story got distorted over the years to mitchum not wanting to work with a black actor in fact it was because the sceneplay was inaccurate[
@mothersfreakout , Russell Crowe, yes...but also Robert De Niro, Mel Gibson and Al Pacino. but also? heck...Robert De Niro is the best of all timmmmmmeeeee.
