In the books, he was the raptor worst nightmare. He blew up one and blasted another leg off with the same rocket launcher. Accidentally killed a t rex and survived the island and even Dr. Grant killed 3 raptors as well by outsmarting them.
Plus it even makes sense when Alan says “Not from the front, but from the side.” That line timed very perfectly before the raptor pops right up on Muldoon’s side.
