I've been in to Fripp since I heard in the Court of the Crimson King when it first came out. I saw him twice in the 70s, once in the 80s, once in the 90s… he's been doing torrents of notes since before Hetfield picked up a guitar.
Dare I say it? Mr. Fripp is living his bliss. With a beautiful energetic wife who is the consummate stage performer, he's used the few years of Toyah and Robert's Sunday Lunch videos to hone his rock chops. The hard work paid off. I was so pleased to see these snippets of such great performances. I hope they tour the US!
I love Mr. Robert Fripp! Nobody pushes musical boundaries like him. I love the first 7 albums of King Crimson and have them on high resolution DVD-AUDIO Discs. His musical genius knows no bounds. I am very upset that he and King Crimson aren't in the Rock n' Roll hall of Fame. I know all musicians greatly respect and admire him, but he doesn't get enough credit. Each time you hear about classic rock you hear about The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and the Rolling stones which are very deserving of praise, but so is Robert Fripp and King Crimson.
I got into listening to Robert Fripp in the 70s...great Era of emerging new sounds ...Brian Eno ..Iggy ..Bowie ..Roxy music...wonderful time .Robert is a free thinker...There is no mould for this elegant man ..true Mensch ...Going strong today ....keep going man ...just keep grooving
Robert's left hand at 0:27! You will completely forget that this man is 77 years old. He retains ability that a guitarist almost 50 years his junior would like to possess.
Sir, I have been listening to you for the most relevant years of my life, and your work with Eno and others has been a highlight of them. That said, I get a real charge out of you doing what I can only describe as a bar band set. Please continue to enjoy your time behind the Les Paul. I certainly will. This is delightful.
Good to see ole Wizard Fingers has still got it. One of the best guitarists that's ever lived but doesn't get the recognition. I'm sure he doesn't mind.
I greatly admire Robert and the virtuosity of Roberts guitar playing cannot be understated. However, there is a lack of fluidity and emotion in his improvised playing that I find heartening as a guitar player.
so awesome, Robert you are something else, a totally cool guy. so handsome in your suits and ties and rocking the stage better than any young buck. kick ass!
Robert w/ effortless grace and timing spills some wild riffs. I think they did Bowie’s Heroes at this gig too because they played it on RTR FM radio Perth West Australia this morning.
I had the sincere pleasure of watching you both at Storming the Castle last night. Absolutely incredible. Hope to see some footage of that show on here as well.
Bit of Epitaph would be good mate....The song that got me listening to King Crimson...and Toyah the first and one of the best ladies of Rock...you guys together Bring a Thunder in the Mountains and a smile to this old heart well I'm sure 60 is the new 40 right....
Robert looking like an ageing Bank Manager in his 3-piece suite, having an Indian Summer of it all, with his flighty wee Wify flitting about, mouthing sweet nothings. Savour it while it lasts, he'll be gone soon, and all Our Yesterdays are but happy memories of the Golden years of Rock, when we were all young and had colour in our hair. I bet he had a nice cup of Earl Grey Tea when the tumult finally died down! 🙄😁
A shredder that runs rings around Hatfield and Hammett ;-) Without breaking a sweat. Or any other facial expression that is associated with such dudes. Or in fact, any facial expression at all.
I knew and played with Derek Bailey. I wish I would have ask him about those early London days when progressive improvisation was beginning. I’m sure you were exposed to him. Maybe with Gavin Bryers and Tony Oxley.
