It's amazing seeing Robert here. Not that long before he was this golden God who was almost mythical. He aged a lot after Zeppelin broke up but it's nice seeing the more human side of him. As if the last 12 years were a dream
I have a vague memory that my dad was able to hire one from Radio Rentals - or an equivalent - just for the weekend. I certainly remember having the tape and being incredibly frustrated that I couldn't actually watch the thing for some considerable time afterwards ...
To get to the point this is how good kids tv was before the Internet, mobile phones and political correctness. Oh and Sally James wasn't covered in fake tan with drawn on eyebrows.
Plant's first 2 solo albums were fantastic. Love this period of his music, he had a chance to expand on the Zep sound and took advantage. Phil Collins played on a few tracks as well. The songs still hold up.
That is awesome to see Robert Plant and cozy Powell on Saturday morning kids show from England . I saw cozy Powell with rainbow in 1978 but I didn't see Robert Plant and tell the page plant tour in 1998. Both Masters at their craft and cool people
Legendary telly! the cheapness! the reading-out-of-entire-addresses-ness! the impromptu-ness! the underlying Pythonesque-ness! the general atmosphere of baffledness! Sal's legs! the idiot Carson! the flans! the disobeying-of-the-'Never-Work-With-Children' showbiz motto! Thanks for uploading!
Amazing to think that "The New Yardbirds" had existed only a short 12 years before this programme was filmed.. 43 years ago!!!! Incoming existential crisis!!!
Before he'd said a word & taken the bucket off his head..I KNEW that was Frank Carson😂.The squat dumpy little bkdy & weird walk gave it away! This show really had it all & lets face ut ,ut mainky had Chris & Sally's mates on it..wbat a great world ut was having Motorhead play The Ace Of Spades to a studio audience of leaping 8 yr olds or Robert Plant acting as dinner lady giving all the kids orange squash to drink :) happier times yet Britain was in Thatcher hell ! ..we're in Boris Tory hell now 😢but when this show was on tv life was fucking tough for many of us growing up with nothing & this show was like sunshine on a saturday morning :)
Proof positive that neither Cozy or Robert take themselves too seriously. Sally James was gorgeous. And yes, I know Cozy is no longer with us worse luck.
@H Kay Yes, you're quite right. I was making a comment about awful television and the fee we have to pay for it. Thank you for pointing out my mistake.
I was lucky enough to meet him at radio clyde studios in Glasgow about 8 months after this when he was promoting 'pictures at 11', he couldn't have been nicer, signing autographs and posing for photos.
Robert Plant and Cozy Powell on Tiswas (1981) 2359pm 18.9.22 sadly varter would not let me watch tiswas. so i have no concept of tiswas, your mind set or birmingham. and the automotive society is a no-no. frank carson was rubbish... as was you ama so said the why dont you... norn kid who couldn't comprehend why i wouldn't watch why dont you eire...
Noooooooooooooo fcukin way! This is HILARIOUS. And UNBELIEVABLE!! Plant & Cozy on a kids show called Tiswas!! No fcuking waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!! LoL
@Greg Hubbard Jason can't really even do it. Don't be silly. Jason only gives the impression he can because he tries to meticulously study his father. Jason doesn't swing like a bastard in his natural state though. Plus, Jason's fills generally are generic.
Bring back Tiswas, if only to see how many of today's prima donna rock legends would be willing to get pied on live TV. Tiswas knew what they were doing when they booked Robert and Cozy, the kids in the studio wouldn't have a clue who they were but all the dads watching at home sure did.
Beautiful old and happy times... early '80s. I love Robert Plant's first two solo albums (Pictures at Eleven and The Principle of Moments), great music.
TISWAS!!!....Where else could you ever get away with saying ..... "Dammit...wouldn't you just know it. Robert Plant seems to have creamed all over Sally James's thigh-length boots".
