I saw Robert Plant in 1987 Non Stop Go Tour. My hair was longer than his a year in progress after his album release and tour announcement. When he included Led Zeppelin cuts in this album I felt his full circle as an artist. My soul was completed with this album and tour since I was too young for the Led Zeppelin tours. Thank you Robert Plant for your heart you put into music. The greatest band and voice of Rock and Roll forever. Embrace his spirit while he's still inspired to collaborate with Allison Krause.

@zoso1980
@zoso1980 5 лет назад
Blunt and Plant had a collaboration. Blunt also brought a lot of good out of Plant. After he scuttled Blunt, he became a roving musical hedonist hiring and firing band members annually. He never got fully into a partnership again. He wanted to wear the pants and his career became shallow for it. Big Log is timeless - Tie Die On The Highway is just schmaltzy. Further, that's why UnLedded and Walking Into Clarksdale with Page were weak. Jimmy had to bow to Plant's wishes and the result was mediocre reworkings and mid-tempo dirges when Jimmy still wanted to rock.

@@zoso1980 The problem with Walking Into Clarksdale was the production. They hired Nirvana's producer and decided to go with a raw, grungy sound, and the album (minus one or 2 tracks) sucked. I'm sure Jimmy wanted to produce the album, but he had to bow to Robert, i'm sure.

@@zoso73 Sounds just like how the 02 show Ahmet tribute in London in December 2007 went. Robert made Jimmy drop the original tuning in most of the songs they played that night a half step which made it sound grungy so Robert wouldn't embarrass himself straining his voice like in Black dog, Good Times Bad Times, Ramble On, Nobody's fault but mine, No Quarter, Dazed and Confused, Song Remains the same, Stairway and Rock n Roll.

I saw this show at the Hampton Coliseum shortly after this. It was general admission. I was 10 ft from the stage and thought I was gonna be crushed to deathbduring’In the Evening.’ I got off the floor as soon as I couland really enjoyed the rest of the show. I think the guirist had a ‘Steal Your Face’ sticker on his guitar. Maybe he didn’t. I really liked that he played some Led Zeppelin songs. I had heard he generally avoided them playing solo for the first half of the 1980s. He was so young back then…not even 40 yet. It makes me feel so old now.

Sad for you no doubt, and millions of other fans, not sad for him....,except in the way that getting old is sad for all of us. Past twenty years has brought many musical adventures for him and much creativity....and of course that great 2007 Celebration Day performance. Even if he had wanted to carry on doing Zep songs and his 80’s catalogue, (which he did NOT), his voice could not sustain touring at that level. He’s damn lucky he has a voice left at all after all the years of relentless demands on it by Zeppelin. His last two albums are beautiful, heartfelt, somewhat melancholy, reflections of a guy moving through his years, and his voice carries so much emotion now. It is not music for the young. Things are lost when youth passes.....but some things are gained.
@rokarolla
@rokarolla Год назад
@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 Robert does as he pleases, doesn't he? Repetition can be so destructive to performers. John Denver comes to mind. I think Robert defends his spirit by moving along. Outwardly the repitition doesn't seem to bug Jim, but he has a reputation for coping.
@zoso1980
@zoso1980 Год назад
@@rokarolla The only problem with Plant's ever wandering muse, instead of copying, he tends to rely on reframing, especially with things he recycles. What comes out is often lesser than what the original was. Unledded for example was a dalliance in the hedonistic reinterpretations. I wouldn't mind if his hedonism went somewhere interesting, but reframing while missing the light the powered the pieces has shown me Percy has been out of creative gas for years. He needs a Robbie Blunt to spark that creation. On his own, without being put in check, his hedonism goes some pretty silly places. Today, he's musical comfort food. JP avoiding the slide into silliness has it's merits. He contributed, now he's guarding and taking care of his legacy. Plant is just flinging tomatoes at the wall still, and sometimes making a mess.

This is Plant at his most campy for sure. A cover caricature of himself along with young hired guns to appeal to the MTV audience. Plant was lost after 1985 and bounced from musical hedonistic thing to thing. He's still doing it. People praise him, but what he has doesn't have any depth or substance. It's just him jumping from kiddie pool to kiddie pool. Compare that Coverdale/Page. Say what you will about Coverdale, but that album holds up and has aged well. Plant looks goofy here. Him doing Zeppelin covers with his band is almost bad comedy. At least this is semi-close to the original arrangement. That is before he started reworking them and stripping the timelessness out of them. Yes, that reworking of Black Dog with Page was a nuisance.

@@christopherekin1747 I'm glad you can openly share your fondness for shallow and vapid music. Bless your heart. I don't need a band. Need a snappier comeback my guy. Perhaps you feel superior because you cannot understand how bad Plant was in this era. You aren't as smart as you think you are. Plant's artistic muse was well on its way down hill after Blunt was shown the door. Now, it exists as reframes and retreads. Plant has no muse other than hedonism. A complete empty husk reliant on a quality guitarist to bring something out of him, which he thinks he is too good for now. But, go on. Praising him as "fantastic" just shows a 25-watt lightbulb relates well to another 25-watt lightbulb. Stay seated at the kiddie table if you can't converse like a grown up.
