Indy's coach is 11-11. Jets coach is 20-36. Indy's QB is out. Their backup (who Saleh had and couldn't get him to move the offense) put up 34 points and looked good. The Jets have their QB and have 26 points in the last two games.

He already had another chance before that, so it wasnt surprising he parlayed another great year as DC into a HC job Most guys are just working their way to a Head Coach chance.
