Too bad about the wind and the mouse’s nightly escapades 😅 Not fun at the time but a great story afterwards 😉 And thanks for the lovely video. Amazingly filmed and great music: it brought me right back! I spent a week as a volunteer hut warden at Angelus Hut a few years ago and it’s still one of my most treasured experiences ever 💖
That sounds fantastic! Kudos to you and all the volunteers that sacrifice your time to support the hut experiences across NZ! Thank you for the kind words it really means a lot ❤️🙏😊
Dear Chris and Danya, on behalf of the Bird Bancroft Walking Group based in Lismore NSW I can say with absolute certainty that your videos are by far the most informative and entertaining videos we’ve seen and have inspired us to take on a hike in New Zealand. We’re doing the Greenstone Caples Routeburn traverse in two weeks time. There will be six of us slogging it out and we’re all in our 50s. Thanks to you we feel young and healthy. Can I also say, you two are awesome. Thank you. You make videos about the journey and we absolutely love that. Hopefully, one day, our paths will cross. Until then, stay safe and well and love, love, love to you both.
Thank you so much for your kind words Shaun! You've picked and absolutely fantastic track in New Zealand, you won't be disappointed! The Routeburn is still near the top of our favourite hikes in NZ and the valley walking on the Greenstone Caples is beautiful. Unfortunately, we're not in NZ anymore, but perhaps we'll bump into you in NSW one day! We'll have to come over and explore the Blue Mountains one day 😊
I’ve been on this tramp many times. Only last week I popped up for an overnighter at the Bushline Hut on Mt. Robert. Your video is by far the best filmed I’ve ever seen. Fantastic work.
Hi Chris and Danya, I am planning to go to Angelus hut the end of this year. I am so excited and your video is very helpful to get detailed information for the track. Thank you!
Great vid as always. A scenic non-windy alternative is to go via Speargrass Hut, but I see you've covered that in another video. I used to put polly bags next to my pillow incase of mouse attacks in the huts!
Great ep guys. You've helped inspire me to join a seniors hiking group and start regular day hikes for the first time at 62. And I'm loving it! Thanks.
Courageux ! Bravo... we confirm why we didn t get there ! But why do not booked a hut bank ? What month did you do ?last summer ? Thanks à lot for this Nice vidéo! ..
I think the hut only had 3 spots left and we don't really like staying in the huts when they are that full. We were hoping we'd be able to get there earlier and hangout by the lake in our new chairs, but didn't look up the wind report and got there later than expected 😅 We hiked this last summer, March 2023
Breathtaking sceneries! Amazing lakeside trail, mossy forest, gorgeous ridgelines, moving clouds, etc. I really enjoyed heavenly views. I'm sorry for your tough night but this video is absolutely great. Thank you for sharing. Take care.
Thanks for watching and your kind words! 🙏❤️😁 It really is a beautiful country and trail! Can't complain too much about the rough night, it made the video more interesting 😂
Another great adventure! This is really inspiring for me and my husband. Just wondering what sleeping bag you guys are using? We are having trouble deciding on one suitable for autumn adventures. Thank you!
Apologies for the delayed response! We use Enlightened Equipment quilts, Danya uses an Enigma and I use the Revolution. They can be very pricey coming from the US, especially with the current exchange rates, but they are so well built and are still our favourite pieces of gear after 5 years. I do believe there are cottage quilt companies based in NZ now, so you could potentially save some money there. If you're not interested in using a quilt, I believe the Sea to Summit sleeping bags are well reviewed. Otherwise I recommend looking up local companies that make them
I spent a year working in St Arnaud Nelson Lakes and did the Angelus trip a number of times, summer and winter plus via water taxi up lake Rotiti and the Cascade Track. Brought back happy memories now I'm back in the UK.
Special Forces Mouse.....too funny! Great episode as always so thank you once again. We're on the Milford Track next week and hoping NZ will bless us with some good weather, though as always we're prepared for the worst.
That's so exciting Alan!! Even if it does rain, you'll have the stunning waterfalls pouring off the side of the mountains into the valley We'll do a sun dance for you though 😂
It is amazing how you manage to be in a right place at the right time with nature beautifully lit scenery. When you sincerely desire something and you go into it with all your heart, with love and humility, you will get, what you wish for.Excellent shots and captivating music made my morning beautiful.Thank you!
We have the luxury of not having too many responsibilities, so can pick and choose our weekends 😅, but we do get lucky most of the time! Thanks for watching 🙏❤️
@@ChrisandDanya hey don’t feel obligated on my account! That’s the quickest way for a RU-vidr to lose their joy. You post when you want and I’ll be grateful for what I get :)
