I spoke with Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts about her conversation with Brittney Griner as they discussed her 10-month detainment in Russia.
Brittney never left the airport. When people enter a country thats not their own they might be ignorant of the laws. She wasn't in Russia selling drugs. She should have been turned around and sent back to the US, ban her from ever enteting again. And her original sentence was way too harsh even for a local.
@@zt1053 I don't need to take up anything with the Russian government. I only expressed an opinion. You do know what it means to express an opinion, right?
@@raephaelemasirnille5794 you’re making it sound like it was the US government that Sentenced her. it was a foreign government so that’s who you should be mad at
@@zt1053 How am I making it sound like the US was responsible for her trouble in Russia? Biden fought hard to get her back. Your statement makes absolutely no sense.
Interesting that many of the comments in the comments section are written by people who have never travel outside of the US. In Canada, you can be fined for putting your foot on a seat when riding public transportation. Nobody jailed Pamela Anderson Lee when she overstayed her visa. Hypocrites! So many people unknowingly break the law when they travel.
Yes.....that's why it is at the Supreme Court.......because there's existing laws for the crap they are doing. I'd assume you feel the same about Hunter?
@@ChiGirl-jj6vi yikes as an independent it became very obvious to me other people that were the real fascist trying to jail their political opponents are the ones that were calling everybody else fascist. Projection is a real thing and it should scare you that he didn’t commit a crime and people are trying to jail him.
1st off it was not an unlawful detainment. Who are we Americans to tell another countries laws should or should not be. That was a lawful detainment in Russia.
@@sandycarter5300 Pure evil? It's just the law there. She knew the law, and she chose to break it. I smoke, but I'm not going to Russia either. Follow there laws or don't go there. It's pretty simple. You do crime, you do the time. I mean seriously look at the trouble she caused, and she had the nerve to kneel at her games when they played the national anthem. I mean seriously wtf. And, I don't know if that guy they got is a spy, and if he was I'd still not know because they ain't going to tell you, but somethings wrong there because if he was innocent he'd be home. So it's not evil. It's the law, and thats all that needs be said about it.
Trevor Reed was incarcerated in a Russian prison for being publicly intoxicated and fighting with Russian police, however, there was no righteous indignation about following Russian laws when President Biden negotiated for Trevor’s release from a Russian prison. The difference in attitude is obvious!
@@ChiGirl-jj6vi so what are saying is that bad or good. Because I think Biden should of left him there. You shouldn't go to other countries and crap on their law. I mean hitting a cop is a given in every country to be illegal. The only one I have a difficult time judging is that wheeler guy. The supposed spy, but the Russians must have found something to implicate him. Their not cavemen they have judicial system, and if he was innocent most likely he'd be home by now.
Reading the comments on this video reveals why I think people are SH!T! There is so much racisn, sexism, and unnecessary meanness here. BG made a mistake. She deserves respect and kindness, not trolling and rudeness. I just bought her book! I doubt any of the haters on this thread have the desire or inclination to actually read a book.
LOL what a pathetic puff piece ESPN tried to do. Dear lord this was so cringe. Remember the Merchant of Death was traded for this person who brought drugs into another country.
Yeah you’re fucking right she wrote a book. And? What’s the issue? It was THC dude. Jfc maybe get some and calm yourself. 🙄 so fucking empathic it makes me sick.
I don't think anyone feels they are above the law. I think most people feel the punishment should fit the crime. Her punishment was way too harsh. I think they were originally talking 10 years in prison. .... that's insane to most people
@@raephaelemasirnille5794 who are you to decide what a foreign country’s punishment for a crime should be? How about just don’t break a law so you won’t have to get punished
@macewindu789 I expressed an opinion. Am I not allowed to have one? The comment section of you tube is all about people expressing their opinions. Perhaps you should look up the word "opinion".
I 100% believe she had misstep (broke Russian law) which unfortunately cost her a prison sentence. Please forgive yourself🙏🏽. You are loved respected on so many levels this too shall pass.
Did you watch the interview? She said she was surprised he wasn’t on the plane! It is not her fault they chose to keep him! It’s all apart of their crazy propaganda
This is about a human being. Who made a mistake. A really big mistake. And she made it in a communist country run by a VERY EVIL man, Putin. There’s no comparison between Russia’s communist court system & America’s. The punishment was extreme & I’m beyond happy for her that she’s home. Refusing to have compassion for someone’s suffering, in this situation, is both mean-spirited & arrogant. Britney owned her mistake & seems genuinely humbled by the experience. There are many, also in the public eye, who could learn from her.
Man so fed up with this show with the political bullshit and WNBA bullshit. The WNBA doesn't and never will gross what the NBA does so they can't be paid the same. Is this show called NBA Today ? And saying she wasn't at the negotiating table that helped her come home before an American soldier does not matter. Those people that was at the table and the president allowed a sports figure to come home before a soldier is a disgrace.
