@@Righteous_Robot First it was a monster or bandits who threatened a nice picnick. Knight kills em, a nice exchange and song follows, but like I said, those last 15 seconds puts a whole new spin on everything. What I take away from the whole film is this: the knight and the lady are in love, but cannot be together, for the lady is promised to a lord. While the lady and the lord are having a picnick the knight slays the lord (and possibly his retinue) They can finally be together! After the knight washes up of course. ;) Slowly the reality of what has transpired forms in their minds. She is known throughout many kingdoms and he is a nobleman, a knight and a murderer of men. They will never be free. They will be hunted to the end of their days.

The commemt above yours suggests, that it's a pair of lovers in the middle a a war. As he wash the blood off him she sings a hopefull song, filled with their wishes for the war to end.But as the song goes on the pleasent expressions from their faces disappears, as they both know the war is probly going to countine on... and perharps soon it may be somone washing his blood off while his lover sings hopefully. * This isn't exactly what the comment above is exactly,i aldulterad it a bit but u get the idea*

The song declares the Robin’s joy in summer. But when the phrase repeats it draws the attention to the qualifier. Summer won’t last forever.
