Trower himself said “There’s no doubt that Jimi Hendrix was a huge influence." “You’ve got to remember, when he came along, it was a bit like when James Brown came along. There had never been anyone like that before, so what he was doing couldn’t be ignored-that was the thing about it. And obviously, from that influence, I parlayed it into what I had to say myself. But it was never a matter of learning Jimi’s licks or anything like that. I knew that was a non-starter. I think it was more his funky, soulful, and very atmospheric vibe, like what he was doing on Electric Ladyland. That’s what got me, definitely.”

First time I saw him was at The Spectrum in Philly 70's, and I've been going to see him since. Still the best power trio ever in my opinion, but I miss James Dewar. One of the best voices in rock ever IMO. 🤙🏼💖🎸✌🏼

I've been fortunate to see Robin about 15 times...First show was at the selland arena in fresno ca "For Earth Below tour, Was literally hanging on to the stage right in front of Robin and have good pics to prove it, lol, Believe it or not there's a audio recording of that concert here on RU-vid. Pretty cool to be able relive that concert, To this day one of my most memorable shows. Long live Robin Trower.

I can only do a “thumbs up” one time. Saw Trower in Dallas Texas in mid-70’s. Jimmy Dewar was there. Snuck down to the front row. Will never forget it. The audio was lost for a few minutes except for Trower’s guitar. He just stood up there and played by himself. The crowd went wild. Mr. Trower, thanks from a life long fan in Texas, USA.

It was the summer of 1976 and Robin Trower performed at San Diego's Balboa Stadium as a part of an all-day lineup. The twilight sun glowed in the western sky and our spirits soared high as he played Day of the Eagle. This unforgettable moment in time is etched in my memory; in my soul, forever.

NO such thing as too young to die and to old to rock. I've seen him in the 70s, 80s, 90s.00s and now see him doing this. GODDAMN that man can play. Hell they'll have to bury him with his Strat and Marshalls.

I saw him in 2007 (I think) Sayerville, NJ. The Starland Ballroom. TONS of people were there for the forgettable opening act. When the place cleared out after that, I went right to the edge of the stage. Nobody between me and Robin's amps except Robin for the rest of the night. I had loved his sound since the 80's but hearing and seeing in close proximity is one of the more memorable experiences of my life. Nobody will ever replace James but as long as somebody is singing the songs....

56 yo guitar player here, got my first strat in 70, first paid gigs in 77, First concerts Robin Trower, E. Clapton, J. Winter. Robin absolutely blew us away in early 70's. First paid gig opened with Two Rolling Stone, Althea, Day OF THE eagle, purple haze, Grand Funk RR Paranoid, Maybe Im a Leo, when I was 17... now its exactly 40 years later and last Friday night at Beavers in Phoenix I was asked to do 2 Rolling stoned again. Robin is timeless, and oh so good. Remember how screwed up California is and you'll know why the can't STFU and dig it! Robin go play where ever it takes you Bro and thanks for all the amazing memories!!!

Wow! Robin Using his original sound on these two! The univibe was key and he seemed to have stopped using it decades ago settling for the wah pedal and distortion... so this is an eye opener! i've seen Robin play for the last 4 decades and this is what I always thought was his best tone yet he rarely used it in any of the shows I saw.
