As for Tony Powell, please try to keep in mind, Mr. Trower's latest bowel movement has more talent in it ,than you will be able to summon in your ENTIRE LIFETIME. I don't know what you're going to do , but I know what I would do if I were you, I WOULD SHOOT MYSELF.
This is awesome!! Always loved the studio version, but felt that earlier live versions I'd heard just didn't quite catch the ambience and atmosphere of the original. But he really knocks it out of the ballpark here- and having recently turned 70!!
@@DeadMikeConcertVideos I will, the latest I heard was the one based on his Midnight Special Performance back in 1977. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MLdsqHLAb6c.html I mean I'm not going to knock a Trower performance because it's still good-- but the the atmosphere and haunting vibe of the original is difficult to achieve live, given the different flanger settings available to him in the studio as well as the layering of reverb, mic settings, and multi-tracking.
Tony Powell why should he pack in if he's still enjoying it and his fans are still enjoying it ? he doesnt want to be new its not all about innovation , he's been there and done it , tried and tested and still sounding great !
besides that some of us lifetime Trower fans that are guitar players want to see exactly how is plays songs we never got to see him play live. and also this varies some from the original so it isn't the 'same old thing'. Sure it's the same song but we love artists for the history of what they've done. Some us love his new guitar sound but I wish he would have made use of the Electric Mistress flange sound like the original had (I wonder if he ever did that live as the manual flanging might have been done by an engineer unless he had a expression pedal mod'd for that) My vote is the recording is FUCKING AWESOME!!
I got turned on to him my second semester of college waaaay back in spring of '77 at GSU in Grambling, La. Been a fan since. My 1st album i bought was the live one of him. Album cover had him on stage in like a football stadium completely full to the hilt. Pic was taken from someone standing behind him on stage so you could see entire stadium was full.....I just remember thinking....All the ppl here just to see this one guy on guitar,,,, he must be a badA$$ !!!! Back then i just thought only the Stones could pack a stadium like that....Lost all my albums yrs ago but will have to look up what that album was
That picture from the trower live album was taken at the Day on the Green festival in California 1975... which was a large festival.. Trower was one of the action the bill hence the large crowd.. the recordings from the live album were from the stochom concert hall on the 75 for earth below tour. The hall capacity was about 2500...
