Been listening to Trower since I'm 14 and I'm 65. Never gets old! That style of Blues Rock stemming from the Hendrix psychedelia world always lights a torch. I've always loved Robin's awesome strat tone. You always know it's him within the first 2 notes! He has such killer control with an amazing vibrato! Makes it just sing. I must say, as a guitarist myself, I've learned a lot from him over the years. And of course he's still at it, just releasing a new album a few months ago! Keep on Blues rockin Robin!!!

16/17 years old , drinking too much , smoking too much , listening to this and other 70s masterpieces and still 30 years away from realizing how lucky I was to be born in '58 ! A time of peace ( Vietnam ended ) heaps of work , relatively safe communities, the worst thing you could catch was crabs and the very best of music, concerts and parties ! Hate to be too negative but as the sun sets on this little go at it....you can have what we got now ! Over and out !😎👍

Also born in 58. We had a great concert hall in my town, all of the great bands came thru there. We were allowed to toke in the basement of the great hall before the concert, decades before weed became decriminalized in our state, we were sure to get there abt an hour before the concert started. Getting caught drinking alcohol tho and u were escorted out of the great hall immediately. There were police in tht basement with us. , they were so nice to us. I miss those times, things were way different then. 🙋‍♀️✌️

The view from the Bridge of Sighs was the last view of Venice that convicts saw before their imprisonment. The bridge's English name was bequeathed by Lord Byron in the 19th century as a translation from the Italian "Ponte dei sospiri",[1][2] from the suggestion that prisoners would sigh at their final view of beautiful Venice through the window before being taken down to their cells.

"Bridge of Sighs is easily one of the best albums ever made"....... I could not agree more. When I was 11 years old, in 1981, my brother gave me 2 albums for Christmas. Robin Trower Bridge of Sighs, and Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced. Both really really awesome albums. This really shaped my brains thought process and style in playing guitar. These guy's became my idols and hero's in the guitar world. I just picked up a set of tickets to the Dallas concert for April 26, and I am really looking forward to the show. >Stan Kowalski Your comment made me think back to the first time I heard Robin Trower & James Dewar - although there were albums before the first one I heard, which was "In City Dreams" - I went out and bought it immediately and was a devotee from then on. It was a magic time to be alive with all the outstanding music coming out. Trower and Dewar were really unique and they fit each other like a glove. Trower from England; Dewar From Scotland. If you liked what you heard here, check out all the other Trower albums that James Dewar was on. To name a few, "Bridge of Sighs" is one of their best but they're all good. "Long Misty Days," "For Earth Below," Twice Removed From Yesterday," "In City Dreams", "Caravan to Midnight," ..... Many more. Sadly, James Dewar died far too soon in 2002 from a genetic illness he had from birth. But Robin Trower is still pressing out albums and going on tour now in 2021!! Better than ever, too.

@@written12 Yes he has, but I'm betting he is entertaining the Angels! Don't the years go flying by, though? James had an exceptional voice - he wrote a Christmas song with a colleague other than Robin that is just beautiful; it's kind of obscure but I found it here on RU-vid - I think it was called "Hosanna" but I might have spelled it wrong. Do a search here using the words "James Dewar Christmas song Hosanna" and it should come up. It's well worth looking for - James did the lead vocal and it's accompanied with a home-spun neat video. I take it you like James Dewar too; right on! I love him on the Trower/Dewar album "In City Dreams". James Dewar must not be forgotten. Thanks for responding to my post, written12; fare thee well, my friend.

Seen Mr. Trower 9 times, he's a yearly at Seattle and Portland. Seen him 4 times in Seattle and 4 times in Portland. Once in Chicago too. When I was first learning lead guitar at age 13 and 14, I bought his albums and these songs are etched in my brain forever. The "RT Live" album blew me away and of course the granddaddy of them all-time- "Bridge of Sighs."

One of the most underrated guitar players in history. Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Kenny Wayne Shepherd all got or are getting their respect which is genuinely due. I can't for the life of me figure out why John Mayer and John Frusciante get shuffled above or in front of Robin Trower though. He smokes the crap out of both! Bridge Of Sighs is one of the most powerful Blues/Rock songs ever written, played and recorded. Too Rolling Stoned is also a classic. Come on now, you have to give credit where credit is due.

I could not have said it better. Trower is an old school professional and it shows with every move he makes. His natural chops plus the drive to always keep playing and writing, always makes him top of the list relevant.

Younger aspiring guitarists NEED to study and understand Trower. Some argue that he was derivative of Hendrix. There are some parallels. But Robin was in Procol Harum around the same time Jimi started, and even without an arguable Hendrix influence, he would have been a standout. He made the most of a simple pentatonic scale. IMO his playing in the early 70s had more soul that any rock guitarist since. Even Eddie, with his swing-influenced shredding, didn't have the level of heart-grabbing power that Robin did. And he's still playing! May he live to be 100.
