I heard it was like a switch. Those who really knew him would see the depressed Robin. Then it was like flipping a switch on and the one we all knew was there.

+felix the cat Sure, he had depression, and I've seen evidence that he was long predisposed to take his own life. But were he still alive, he'd be institutionalized with diffuse Lewy Body Dementia(which oftentimes is not properly diagnosed until an autopsy is performed)and only a few years left to live. His widow showed four doctors his post mortem information and they concurred that he had one of the worst cases of LBD they had ever seen. But many have responded by donating to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org) in his name. Given that he was a great humanitarian, he would most likely be raising funds for research of that disease were he alive and lucid.

@@deborahearle5162My mother in law had Lewy Body Dementia. It is so heartbreaking. 💔💔 I can’t even imagine his sadness, confusion and panic. 💔💔 He was an imperfect, funny and beautiful person. Rest in paradise Robin.

+ClearEyEz gamerfreak actually us leftys liked Robin. Most of us leftys cried when his death was announced. I would have loved to hear what he had to say about both Trump and Hillary. Not to mention the big cluster f**k society has become.

Elizabeth Barry I think any decent person would do anything they could to help someone they know is suffering. Unfortunately people who suffer depression are often masters at hiding it and no one is the wiser until it is too late

Yep, we are. We are sick and tired of the yoyo effects of the illness. Back and forth from wellness to self hatred and how we must be punishing those we love with the wretched illness which racks or minds ever effin day. We hide it because the pain is horrible. When people ask you , how are you? they don't really mean it, because once you tell them, they often excuse themselves. There is absolutely nothing you or anyone else can do to cure Robin, or me and others like me. Sure you can talk, but that is only a temporary "treatment", not a cure.

If there is a heaven, it would be Robin that makes it joyful.

Me too. My niece's husband was an Army Ranger platoon leader in Iraq when Robin came to visit, and he didn't just do a show. He went around the base meeting people for hours before, and when he showed up where Mark's platoon was, a PFC ran to his office telling him to come see, because Robin Williams was there. Mark said no - he would see him at the show - he was here for the men. The PFC left, and shortly after, Robin was at Mark's office. According to Mark, he started out joking - "What's the matter chief? Officers don't laugh? Oh, wait, I get it - not in front of the men." Then he got serious - "Son, I know you're trying to put your men first, and I admire that. But you're what? 22? 24 years old? Away from your wife and family, and being shot at everyday. Come have fun with us - it's OK to let them see that you're human, they won't respect you less." To this day, Mark, now a Major, says it was the best leadership advice he ever got.

me too...his birthdate is coming soon, as well the second anniversary of his demise. So sad.

Because people can just be cruel. Not only was this man a comic genius he was kind and generous and had a genuine soul, those who dislike can take a lesson from Robin about compassion. RIP you beautiful man . 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I absolutely disagree - the world does not feel darker. Robin left us with his light in abundance, but most of us refuse to actually learn from other's light, joy and wisdom - instead people wallow in self pity and just crave and demand more and more from others to entertain and amuse them endlessly instead of taking the hint and understanding their own selves more deeply and life's nature of constant change as well as the fact that we all have to tap into our own talents for helping others instead of becoming nothing but consumers. Robin didn't want to have to live with a rapidly degenerating brain/mind as disease began to affect it strongly. I don't blame him, and in any case we all have to die eventually. Robin was a flawed human being, like we all are, but the light of joy and wisdom that often shone from him is within us all. That's the point, but we can't tap into that light without facing ourselves (and life) as we actually are, rather than endlessly hiding from our true selves in all manner of forms of fiction, ideologies, hypnoses, artificial identities, constant demand for more pleasures, materialism, leaders and so on.

Have you seen a TV movie about how the Mork & Mindy TV show was made? Actor Chris Diamantopolous plays Robin. He does a very good impression but you can tell he can't top Williams. It's impossible.
