I have a master CD I captured from the digalog tape which is in pristine condition. I think I've only played the tape less than 10 times so the tracks are nice and crisp. Still one of my favorite albums. Great songs. Great musicians. Robin perfect as usual. It's pretty much Robin fronting The Heartbreakers but that's cool. They're a good fit. In fact, I think I'll enjoy it right now. Who's in?
I worked in a record store at the time, and I can tell you that the label spent zero time or $ promoting the album. Then again, played the copy I bought in the store, and was puzzled when it didn't sell. At that time, grunge had become mainstream, and the Top 30 was split between that & dance.
He sure did, and it was great. It was so great every time I start thinking about it, I'm scandalized all over again by how badly Warner did him with promotion. I just watched Aussie Insider's video about class warfare & Australia's privatized foster system, so I have to restrain myself. I'm looking to rage out over anything & everything. Did you listen to his "I've Always Got You" song? Tom Petty's band backed this album & you can really hear it there. There's even a second solo album, but it was pretty terrible; even Robin's amazing vocals couldn't salvage it. It was never released, but I heard it via slinky Internet stuff.
