Butterflies in general can mean "the triumph of the spirit and the soul over the physical prison" which this video somewhat fits in the category of. Perhaps two people are in this one body, as two colored eyes represent different people in this universe. When following the "physical prison"(body) and they keep trying to fight for 'triumph' as the people trapped seem to be arguing in his mind? Like these voices keep on fighting with each other, giving him negative thoughts. Going insane in their own head. ALSO, since butterflies mostly represent rebirth or transformation, perhaps the two somehow died or something which resulted into being in this one body somehow. Or TRANSFORMED into one. Chasing butterflies usually mean to chase happiness, but I will never come to you. He may be trying to break free as butterflies send good omen and are spiritually helpful critters, sent from heaven ect. However, he's(or they idk) are having trouble catching the butterfly meaning he is having trouble breaking free. I also theorize that he could have split personalities but kinda a stretch.

the Monarch butterflies are symbols of change, transformation, and hope. Soon to come... the enemy tries to crush the butterfly as it symbolizes hope and change both which he cannot comprehend so he destroys it. Obviously as a villain you try and take control meaning the only change would be him ruling and the hopes of many crushed... just a theory but it does make sense...
