Exactly, as a developer, with every new update I constantly face problems and I just have to say goodbye to good features, while having to say hello to terrible features and bugs/glitches. I develop for fun, and for learning, as I believe I could eventually become a professional lua programmer but all of the fun is slowly but steadily dissapearing with every terrible update.

"2d faces arent allowed anymore" Roblox is breaking their own promise of letting people use anything (appropriate) for their avatar, wether it's r6, or a classic face.
Most of the things that roblox adds or removed dont actually help the roblox community. Most things are to make the game "look better" (which it doesn't)
The thing about the marketplace items is that they are literally founding blocks for almost all games one the platform. They went about doing this in the worst way possible. A good solution really could have been letting UGC creators decide if they wanted them used in games or not rather then a forced rule upon even UGC creators.
thing is, if they didnt want them in they can already take them down. it would be stolen assets, more than enough to take the game out until the item is removed. most ugc creators dont care whether the items are used by game developers, because its just free advertising. if people see it and like the style, they will look for something similar on the catalog, and find it. it hurts literally everyone.
That last update is actually a horrible update. I feel really bad for developers, especially beginner devs who may not be too experienced in making UGC Edit: Sorry for not editing this sooner but the update isn't happening anymore :)
I am a Roblox creator that is affected by this update. I have a game where you can role play as different characters in game and then play little mini games. Well I have the option to change outfits to look like the player you want to role play as, which was a largely requested update in my game. Now I am taking that away because I don’t want to promote other peoples products in my game. So ya, this is a pretty dumb update
As a dev, It feels so dumb to ban devs for using items that roblox made for experiences. Im currently working on a horror game. And i need to use marketplace items for npc models bc im not a modeler. This update is not solo dev friendly at all.
Im honestly worried for catalog avatar creator, because LOTS of people (including me) think that it makes it so much easier to design a new avatar PLUS you can try on multiple items to test together, but some people don't actually buy the outfit and just use it in the game so the developer might have to remove the game. However the game does give you an option to purchase the items
I was literally thinking about this myself. Unless Roblox becomes more clear with this rule or changes it so that a ton of games won't get falsely removed, then a lot of games will be taken off and catalog avatar creator might end up being one of them. I also hate that they aren't going to be allowing faces anymore which is so STUPID (Unsure if this is true or if I just read it wrong). They're basically forcing r15 onto people who don't want it. Instead of becoming a game where you can "be anything" it's becoming more of "be what WE want you to be or be NOTHING, because we don't care what you want, we'll force it on you anyway." And even if the face thing is untrue or was taken out of context, it's still really sad. I feel like I'm running out of options for games at this point. Edit: Something I forgot to add here, but does this mean Khols VIP will be effected, too? You can literally get any item for free in a game that supports khols vip for no more than 250 or 400 robux. Will khols end up getting removed entirely because of this new rule change? If it does, that is a HUGE issue, and it is very reasonble why a lot of people are angry about this.
That's literally the worst fear I have for this update rn. I barely play anything else except for catalog both for general dream outfit testing; though, I also tend to make little 'scenarios' or 'photography moments' with a bunch of my avis and ocs I made, whom are part of edits I make as well :// due to the cool additions such as editing the map around you, making poses with avis now and all. This update is absolutely unhuman and It most certainly better be revoked soon..smh.
I feel bad for the many nostalgic games we cherished years ago (survive the disasters classic, the normal elevator, etc.) that will be affected by these changes. Gears such as the gravity coil and bloxy cola practically formulated our childhood. Can't imagine Roblox's reaction when their playerbase drops 😭
Whenever you think this can't get any worse, it always will, trust me. I mean, firstly, there's already an extremely strict (and flawed) voice chat moderation system. Secondly, we've lost so many vehicles in all car sims because snitches be snitching, and getting Roblox sued, which of course led them to enforce a ban on car brands, such as Lamborghini, which I'm sure you've heard. Lastly, the censorship might have been bad from the getgo, but now it seems like people are getting bans every hour for saying completely normal things, and obviously the devs haven't checked their bots in a while considering all the "harassment" reports that usually just end up with the offensive word being something simple and everyday, like "hi" or even "water". It's a dangerous game logging into Roblox everyday, like a horror film and you don't know when they will strike.
True. I often avoid chatting in roblox games because i could get banned for saying something like "whats up" i only chat if i play with alts, so that if they get banned for a stupid reason, at least my main account wont be banned
As a developer myself, this will definitely complicate things. I wish all developers here good luck lol. I will probably be leaving the platform for something like unity or a more reliable game - creating software. Roblox always seems to be having weird updates like this, and I am kind of tired of it. I guess we will see what happens. I simply wish Roblox would stop adding these terrible updates, I feel UGC Is to blame. EDIT: I WILL NOT GO TO UNITY, I WAS ONLY USING IT AS AN EXAMPLE, I WILL FIND A BETTER PROGRAM.
It's getting to the point where Roblox will not care until we protest WAY more, as long the other companies are impressed, they will continue. One way we can do this is by doing something that can and WILL jeopardize them... but we don't, all we say is "Roblox doesn't care about us anymore" or "Roblox is already destroying their platform with every update, this isn’t anything new" WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING THAT WILL EFFECT ROBLOX

please no, making outfits without being able to put them all on at once to test it is so frustrating. (edit: i mean like the normal "testing" option for roblox items is try on and it takes 1 million years for it to load in, not only that but you can only do one at a time. with catalog, you can put on multiple items at once for indefinite time and almost immediately. this better not go through)
When will they ever be in touch with the community? Its like they blatantly think that *every update* they do is so good that they dont need to bother to rethink their decision. Take the audio update for example, now so many audios are unusable. Even though there is a toggle to distribute it to the marketplace, it still isnt even available for us to do so despite it being a few years since they did that horrible update...
For everyone that doesn’t understand the first section/Small update/Direct access to Places, This means you can join your friends in doors in a on-Going game and you can join that game without it taking you to the lobby, I’m pretty sure doors wouldn’t do that but that is the best explanation I can say.

Roblox is doomed. I don't get why David just thinks this is fine and doesn't listen to the actually players and community itself. Honestly the games on Roblox are amazing but David is just making it worse. I've said it before and I'll say it once again. When Roblox dies, I hope, I wish, I know someone will remake it and make it good and better. Like an actually new different platform. Honestly Roblox is probably gonna crash in 2025-2027 This update especially sucks because characters and things will have so many screens prompting you to buy it.

@@SavulthanTheMan how public businesses work is that anyone can buy a small chunk of the company can be bought and sold by others if the company grows, they gain profit so I'm guessing some of the bigger buyers are planting huge demand since they can just short sell a company they dislike. either way it kinda sucks that roblox is on its downward spiral

Whenever you see roblox portrayed by the company itself, they always show it with those detailed anthro avatars with 3d clothes and sНit. No one in the game itself looks like that. It shows that the gap between company and its community its so colossal its almost as if the company does the game for themselves and not the players

tbh, im down for the increased variety, my problem with all of this is removing that variety by adding so many restrictions to everything. removing r6, wanting everything to be rthro, making everything ugc so they wouldnt need to do anything, now this... 3d faces are fine, r15 is fine, rthro is fine, adding any more options in the platform is great! but wanting to delete old stuff in favour of newer stuff that doesnt even fit is just awful, and thats what they are going for.
What if a game has a catalog item, and the developer of the item intentionally puts it offsale and reports the game? I can see a lot of problems with this update.
The game will just get banned. And the creator of the game will most likely get their account deleted or banned based off the moderation. That would mean catalog avatar creator would get banned, it's one of the most popular games (also the only way i can use the oc i use for this channel)
I love how roblox constantly pushes how important the roblox community is to them, and yet they rarely ever listen. I havent seen one person in support of the marketplace thingy update. Then again, i have been on the roblox platform coming up on 9 years now, I honeslty shouldnt be suprised at this point.
Honestly on the cusp of quitting Roblox right now. Everything they do seems not to be for the long-time or loyal players but to just create some goofy metaverse that nobody wants. Shame they've forgotten everything that actually got them success in the first place.
i just cannot get myself to quit. i have built friendships that i just cannot let go off of. the platform right now is just straight up bad, and i barely even play anymore, but i just built way too much over the years. i genuinely hope roblox stops going through that path, but ik it wont happen. even the developers are getting greedier and greedier with every new game, the best games are still the older ones.

Suddenly content creators are trying as hard as youtube is to cram ads down everyone's throat while uploading as much as possible for sheer views. As too many times Roblox won’t listen I mean every single hated update like ugc catalog getting worse, this update, which are making the platform worse, they will be added in the future, Roblox is not going to apologize and remove them, Roblox just doesn’t listen to us and they will only listen when they lose money to being honest, If Roblox listen us that could be a miracle because you already know nobody liked clothing fee and Roblox forced it, this will happen with the new ugc that you will need to be tier 2 or 3 to be elegible for UGC and the limited quantities of ugc, this update where you can’t get accesories by free inside a game just to “customize you avatar more properly”, Roblox will implement them, we can’t do nothing unless we make Roblox lose money because of their bad updates.
This Update was one of the Worst. The Last update was terrible and now it's getting worse. Most Of My Games just use Traffic Lights, Road and Powerlines. However I had to private them and search in each of them for basically every NPC in them and remove them. If my games and my Main Acc don't survive this update. I'm going to freaking quit and stick with Cookie Run.
I might actually quit playing Roblox soon as they are now demolishing the game with the pigs-arse updates. Roblox is gonna capsize and sink into unpopularity if they keep it up with being little snowflakes because they have now dug graves for games like Catalog Avatar Creator.
not just rp. literally any game that has custom characters needs to be reworked if they wanna survive. piggy, arsenal, apeirophobia, tower defense simulator, or even og games like the normal elevator and bee swarm simulator. some will be easier to rework like bss, but others like piggy or arsenal? they have to change every character, either because of the faces or models, but as it is right now they all break some part of the rule.
I said this can only go down in three ways 1. We accept it and walk away. We play the games we play but things will never be the same 2. We leave. sometimes beautiful things should be kept only as memories. 3. We fight with our voices, which may not even work or we go crazy and find the bad things they have done and tell everyone on earth about, tell everyone don't buy Robux, let them starve, make them afraid so they Can hear our voices in some way, Heck go blackmail them. I didn't really understand the last one. Is Roblox "forcing" developers to force-prompt players to buy some product their current character is using? Or humanoids in-game can't use items if the owner does not have them? I'm genuinely confused.

For people who want a somewhat short explanation of Direct Place Access thingy, basically if your friend is in (for example) a dungeon on Dungeon Quest, you can join directly his dungeon instead of joining the main game. 👍👍 This is of course if the developers have the setting on.

They are making classic faces offsale, and some of the 3D versions of FREE classic faces cost robux. Roblox just wants money.

Roblox got a lot of backlash on the horrible UGC update, and they stopped it from coming out. They are reconsidering things. Originally it was gonna come out the 27th of September, but not anymore.
im not even glad they did, the fact that they considered the idea and everyone in there thought it was a great update has me genuinely worried already.
I'm hoping that they don't go through with this as it would really destroy anybody's hard work. Evens games that are still in development will probably get the same treatment. They cooked something and they burned it to a crisp as I should say.

fr. i got a team throughout this year and were just starting to do something in studio. luckily this caught us very early on, so we have just halted it for now, but its sad that not even roblox cares about its games anymore. they focused so much in giving freedom for ugcs that games are either broken or potentially bannable, despite being those very games the ones bringing players into the platform
The allow immediate access to certain places is horrible. imagine a lvl 700 in third sea, that would suck. another example of that being the secret map in slap battles, where you unlock counter.

Man, roblox is actually getting completely destroyed huh? They don't listen to anyone as well which is worse. No one wants these updates, why wont they just like- calm down. Plus, most our offsale stuff is probably quite special, at least mine are. Something i have thats offsale is in memory of my cat who died almost 2 years ago. Roblox really needs to sort things out huh, and actually listen to their comunity.

its not "not being able to wear them", its putting the item inside the game. players can wear anything they want from their own inventory, but games like roleplaying games that have their own catalog would most definitely get shut down because "it includes other creators' assets". its awful tbh
Damn guys ain't going to lie... Roblox dies in 1 year or something because they keep making unnecessary updates that no one likes and ruins the platform. What happened to Roblox soon they'll force people to wear certain outfits or play certain games or they will get banned it is no fun anymore might quit Roblox if that happens. My friend and some people made a game. It was a JJBA game (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure), and their latest release was cosmetics. Sadly, they have to remove it. So basically, the precious UI and the scripting were just a waste of time.
