Thanks for the review. We just upgraded from Deebot N8 Ozmo to Roborock Q Revo and it's a significant difference. Even though it's older tech, the biggest problems we had with our Deebot were with the app and mapping system which I think is subpar compared to Roborock. I had to remap almost every week before we finally just made the swap. Currently I have no complaints for our Roborock - our house is definitely staying clean and works well, especially with the floors being mopped daily.
Great to hear that. Yes the ecovac mapping isn't as good as Roborock I'm working on the new comparison and it's the same case with the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra vs the Deebot X2 Omni. The S8 Pro really is quite good on carpets even with a rubber roller but it has two of them.
I have this T20 Omni robot, and at this point I won't recommend it to anyone, because it's terribly buggy. Both the cleaning strategy leaves a lot of uncleaned areas with TrueDetect 3D activated, which does more harm than good, and the operating app, which throws errors every now and then. If you have a pedestal a little deep under the cabinets in the kitchen, forget that the robot along will clean (even though there is room). It will detect the cabinets in the front above and erroneously assume that this is already a wall, or there is no space. There's no telling what it's guided by. And leave the cabinet still unclosed for a while, the robot won't even pass under the door. It will go around them in an arc and, of course, will not clean under them. The above problems are caused by TrueDetect 3D, because instead of using this option to not pull up cables and such, it uses TrueDetect for other purposes, such as misjudging that it won't drive somewhere. Turning off TrueDetect 3D causes the robot to clean under cabinets, pass under doors and also drive into places it has trouble accessing. Just why buy a robot with an obstacle-avoidance option if it works badly? And and disabling TrueDetect 3D makes the robot blind in front and very often hits objects with its bumper. Another problem with the T20 Omni robot is the procedure for returning to and leaving the station. The robot leaves the station each time with mops laid on the floor to mop a remote area. Likewise with the return to the station. If the robot returns with raised, dirty mops, it lays them down, and so dirtying its driveway, it drives back to the station. After vacuuming itself, it also lays them down and scrubs them dry as it drives into the station. Nonsense. As if they forgot to program the robot with different start and return procedures depending on the circumstances (program). The app is so clunky that it often doesn't display the current status of the robot and you have to exit the app every so often to see where the vacuum cleaner is and what it's doing. It looks like a WebView app, and when you open it, it loads like a page. On top of that, it is badly translated into Polish. Sometimes there is a blank screen with "undefined" instead of the message content. And to make it even worse, there is no option to manually control the robot (remote control). Of course, I reported these problems to support, but it's been 4 months and nothing has changed, no update that even improved the exit and return to the station without laying dirty mops. Most of the positive reviews, from what I observe, come from sponsorship or the free donation of equipment for testing in anticipation of a positive review. It's also worth mentioning that Ecovacs has sent out an email to users that the robot has a manufacturing defect, and this applies to the T20 Omni series manufactured before June 2023. The problem is that one mopping pad falls out periodically. Of course, mine caught and there is a form further asking for an address where they will send replacement parts. After 2 months they sent new mops and plastic pads and so far nothing has fallen out, and before that it happened.
Video review was excellent. It reinforced my decision for buying the Revo Q. In regards to the length of the video, it was great and informative. Thanks
Glad it was helpful! And you made the correct choice I see. When I first started this comparison I thought it would be really close with the Ecovacs being more powerful and having a higher mop lift. But once you use them in real-world situations that spec sheet doesn't mean as much!
Very helpful review, solidified my decision to purchase a Q Revo from Roborock. Thank you very much. Also, I’m shopping for a dash camera for my SUV and it would be great to see a video comparing best dash cameras of 2023
Costco carries the Deebot TEO Omni which is the exact same as the T20 Omni. Apparently it's been on sale for as low as $625. At that price, and with Costco's return policy, I think it's a smarter purchase decision than the Q Revo. If the machine is problematic in a year or 2, you can easily return it and then by then the next gen of Robot Vacs will probably be even greater.
100% agree with you. I didn't know costco sold the T20, you helped me decide which one I'm getting of the two. Can't beat Costco's return policy if it breaks in a year or two.
@@JBenge Where does the dirty water go if the robot does not go back to base? Neither robot can suck up the dirty water so they have go back to base to clean the mop anyway.
@@onefiniteplanet I never said it didnt have to go back to base. I said that I had to go back to wet it's pads every frequently, as opposed to an on board water tank that's built into the robot itself where it can wet it's pads independently.
@@JBenge Agreed, and i was not saying you are wrong, just that going back often may have something going for it. On the other hand if the floor being mopped is a long way from the base it would be a pain to go back often, and even worse if there is more than one level.
Thanks for the review. That's really helpful. It's also consistent with some other reviews of the same products. I like the fact that the Roborock is a little quieter but I don't think it's really significant. I'm sure both units are much quieter than me whining, because I have to do it myself.😅
Man do I ever have some early adopters headache’s with my T20 right now. There are so many bugs. It just tried to mop the kitchen with dry pads. I let it finish, then I sent it out manually to do the kitchen. It wet the pads then went to the carpeted office. I sent it back to the dock, it cleaning the pads and finished but the app was still saying it was cleaning them. I closed the app and reopened it only to find that the room separations I had created in the map were gone. And all my customized scenarios were gone. I had to re add them, then redo my entire schedule. Then, after I finally got it to mop the kitchen, it came back to wash the pads and ran out of water, when I refilled the tanks, it didn’t resume washing the pads even though it said it was. Again, I had to remove it from the dock and manually start the pad washing again. It took me an hour of fucking around to get it to mop my kitchen, I could have done it in 15 minutes manually. This thing might be going back.
That good at all I got no major bug like that expect the lag in the app at times as mentioned. On paper the T20 Omni I thought would dominate but once.u really got into the actual use if it it surprised me. Return it for the Roborock it's better overall. But I do wish the Roborock had the filters like the T20 Omni. That's about it!
Update: the system has been fine since and working quite well. I cleaned out the try for the first time and it took 30 seconds, so I don’t think that’s as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. I’m still well within the return period so I’ll give it some more time.
I have had many problems with the Ecovacs app too! It is SLLLOOOWWW, hangs, the menus are ridiculous and convoluted. I returned mine and got the Roborock Q Revo for LESS and I really like it!
@@pomonabill220 I’ve actually settled into mine quite nicely. After a few software updates. It’s essentially been flawless for a month. I feel the warm water mopping results in a better clean overall.
This is an alert about the Ecovacs new T20 vacuum/mop. Be VERY careful when you use it!!!! I received my T20 about 3 weeks ago and am having some BIG problems with it. I noticed that after a mop run, the floor infront of the dock and the ramp of the dock was wet. I watched it while it docked, and while it was docking, THE MOP PADS WERE DOWN!!!! This means that DIRTY water was being squeezed off the pads, and rubbing into the floor infront of the dock!!! It didn't matter what area was being mopped, or the whole house either!!! ALSO, there was so much water that the floor UNDER the dock was SOAKED! This is NOT GOOD for 120 year old hardwood floor!!!! The SAME thing happens after a vacuum only run, but the pads are usually not wet. BUT that still wears them excessivley. I have tested a few other modes, like MOP, and MOP and VACUUM, and the pads are rinsed like normal, THEN the bot backs out of the dock WITH THE PADS DOWN AND WET!!!!!! This ALSO squeezes water under the dock!!!! The problem would be just as bad if the dock were on a carpet! The carpet detect does not work during docking, so the pads are down and rubbing the carpet with dirty water!!! I have been in contact with Ecovacs, and sent them videos of the problem, and they don't seem to be very interested in getting the firmware fixed. They just give me alot of "stroking" and "how sorry they are.." blah blah blah!!!! They are sending me an "moisture-proof pad". Sure sounds like they know this is a problem!!!! I feel for a $1000 vacuum that is supposed to be premium, I got the "premium" treatment!!! Bend over!!! I am sending mine back, and will forefit the $100 discount and the one day Amazon $250 gift card as my hardwood floors are worth TONS more than this!
My Q Revo would be here tomorrow…Big step up from the Roborock S4 for me I do wish Roborock would add an option in the app for “Clean Type - Quick, Normal, Better, Best” or something like that where the robot speed would be adjusted for either a quicker clean or a more thorough slower clean. Slower would offer better vacuuming and mopping performance and since I run it when I’m not at home most times, I don’t really care how long it takes.
Nice you picked the right vac! Well it's a good robot vac as long as it's mostly hard floors and very little carpet or if you don't have long hair or fur on that carpet. Yes that would be a great option to have a quick clean, normal and deep cleaning via the app.
@@GameKollector you can create routines with whatever program you want, tight mopping, quick mopping, quick vacumming, normal vacumming, vac and mop etc etc
My Q Revo stopped working after 16 weeks (used once a week - the other 6 days of the week I used another robotic vacuum which doesn’t have a mop). The dock light comes on but that’s about it. The device won’t charge. What do they make these things out of - chewing gum and duct tape? I have tried to call Roborocks toll free customer support number several times - it is always busy.
Not sure it was covered here- qith Q Revo, does it ever return to the docking station to wash mop pads mid mopping? Or does it only rwturn once the onboard tank is empty? I just wonder if all the cleaning is done with the same dirty mop pads.
@eklein89 it has been quite an adventure, but its still working great! The setup was a bit of a pain because it won't connect through modern routers like most of these devices, so you have to set up an alternate 2 ghz local network for the initial setup, but the app is super slick and mostly easy to navigate, so its not a huge problem. The robot itself is still chugging away. At first, it got clogged a lot because i didnt do a great job picking up, but after a few days, we worked out a good rhythm and i started picking up my socks before she deployed. As a matter of fact, the biggest change with getting the Q Revo on the prowl is how it's regular schedule keeps everyone in the house mindful of leaving junk laying around. kind of a fun little psychological "whammy" i did not expect. overall, it has been a pleasant and positive experience that has made my home a nicer place. would recommend
you haven't tested dirt/sand on carpet and regular floors. also some cereals and other stuffs on regular floors. And the Roborock Q Revo is £110 more expensive in Amazon.
Hi there, I had dirt and sand with the carpet test it was a mix of everything and hair. As for the price okay it changes that was at the time if me recording. But thanks for the comment.
Obstacle avoidance with Revo is terrible. If you have dog accidents, socks (not in a ball, who balls up their socks and then leaves them on the floor?), cords, small toys, etc.
I saw Ecovacs have different cleaning density - i.e. how close neighbouring passes are. Does Roborock have something similar? Ecovacs also has corner cleaning more. Does Roborock leave some place near the wall unmopped, or does it havw a similar function?
Hi, the Roborock doesn't have that deep mopping or edge clean feature. The edges with the Roborock seem just as good but the deep cleaning closer format mop is good with the Ecovacs. But that edge clean thing seems a bit of a gimmick as they all leave a little gap in the corners.
@@Techtablets Thank you very much for your reply! I saw a sponsored video on T20 and wanted to get it based edge cleaning and 55° hot pad washing, but now I think the Q Revo is better, especially for the money, and it's better to get and reassess the market in three years as those robots become more mature.
I just receive the Roborock it performs good but I don’t see edge cleaning option 😢 does this support edge support? If yes then can you guide me ? Thanks
I bought a Deebot T20 about two weeks ago. A very unsuccessful model, do not buy! A lot of malfunctions such as performing partial cleaning of rooms, not finding the docking station and more.
Why is everyone complaining about the vacuum unloading being clogged on Roborock Q Revo? There are many Amazon and Reddit reviews on the same issue. It seems like the vacuum unloading to bag mechanism is too thin at weird right angles causing clogging. Can anyone validate this issue?
@@Techtablets what is your pick between these two? I liked ecovacs t20 but not having the tank and the unit has to back every time? Is it a deal breaker? Does it clean pads everytime it goes to the machine or does it only clean pads at the end of the cycle? It would be ideal if it cleans everytimt it makes visit to the unit so it always mops with cleaned pad.
Sorry true I think of hot as 65 plus but 55 is hot yes! Shake it didn't really make much of a difference to the cleaning of the mops vs cold on the Roborock.
The Deebot has much better obstacle avoidence since it has laser sensors and thats huge for me. The roborock would have a higher chance of rolling right through pet waste. Thats huge for me.
I haven’t noticed any drawbacks. The key to a clean floor is to ensure the mops are clean the only way to do that is to clean them. I just wish the tank was bigger.
@@JordieG8you mean the clean water tank in the dock station? Does it not take considerably longer for it to do its job since it has to return to the station so much often to wet/wash the mops?
It's not as stupid if you look at it from a perspective of the mop pads being washed in a warm water and thus to some extent mopping is done with warm pads. Also with clean pads. When you mop manually, it's not only about wetness of the mop. You rinse it also to clean it.
@@joannazian7699 Will it take longer for the robot to complete a cleaning cycle, probably. But theoretically it'll be cleaner in the end. Water is simply the agent used to dissolve dirt into solution. The pads store the dissolved dirt. If the pads aren't cleaned, once they become saturated with dirt they're simply going to spread it around. It doesn't matter that the Robock continues to add water, its about the holding capacity of the pads. When the T20 washes the pads, it resets the pads making them ready to absorb more dirt and not just move it around. I can't speak for the Revo (Not available in Canada yet) But I can say from experience after my T20 goes around the floor feels very fresh and quite consistent. For the 500SqFt of floor space my T20 cleans it only goes back once and the cycle is about 3 minutes long give or take. I do wish the clean and soiled water tanks were bigger, every cleaning uses about 30% of the clean water tank. Its about enough for 1.5 washes of the main floor. I have it set to wash the main floor twice a week and the kitchen 4 times. I figure I'll end up filling the water up 3 times a week. Still beats mopping and is a small price to pay for the floors to feel and looks nice more often.
You know I thought that going into this comparison, on paper yes it is the best. But using them both my pick is the Q Revo. My next comparison I'm working on is the new Ecovacs X2 and Roborock S8 Pro it will be interesting to see which is best, here I think the X2 Omni.
The Roborock S7 had an auto empty station with a bagless chamber that all the dust when into, but using bags is most likely a way to keep the consumer purchasing consumables
had mine running for 4 months on the same bag, i have no pets tho, and bought 20 bags on aliexpress for 25 eur. if you spend almost 1k usd on this i think you will survive with 30 bucks per year on bags
I'm not convinced these units are not taking images with their cameras or sending data to suspect servers in China. You state they can't be viewed in the application right? But perhaps they secretly take images and send mapping data to China. Such units connected to a network pose a security risk, backdoor access to your network, PC, and phone. Check it can work without internet access, please? Also, see if it sends any packets to Chinese IP addresses. You need to cover this in your reviews, Chris. Otherwise nice comparison, they both look good expect that carpet test was oh so disappointing.
You should be worried they have your iphone tapped the CIA, dude you need to chill not everything is spying. Maybe it is and they can get a good view of my kitchen the CCP 😂
They are RGB cameras I believe and can't be accessed via the app or otherwise. If you're worried put black tap over them but then you need to turn off the obstacle avoidance. I'm not a networking expert so I don't know how to monitor packets and even tell if they are sending data that they shouldn't be. Yes, carpet cleaning with never brushes doesn't get hair stuck in them but then they are poor at lifting up hair!
Just because I'm stupid, what would the Chinese government do with my floor plan? Why would it benefit them to know where my power plugs and PlayStation is?
They don't have cameras, they have lidar and structured light sensors. That aside, what do you think the Chinese government would want with your house's floor plan?
I have heard the best Roborock model in terms of basic and deep carpet cleaning is still the s5max which shares the same brush as my older S50. I would love the Q Revo, but I am thinking it would be a downgrade
I wonder if there is an old style brush for it then that would basically fix the carpet cleaning. All the new models I've covered with the rubber only main brush struggle with carpets + hair!
@@Techtablets We can guess why of course. The combo brush gets tangled up with hair and therefore cannot be automatically cleaned by a dock. The "solution" is inferior rubber only brushes and slightly increased suction.
Overall I would agree. The Revo Q seems to be the best bang for buck in the Roborock range . However, the fact remains that non brush rollers do not do as good as a job on carpets - as evidenced here and elsewhere. In those terms only, it is a downgrade most certainly.
Eco has Obstacle sensor , Mop raising ability, mop cleaning & drying has twin side brushes and uses disposal bags Still loses at end FYI not yet bought either one of them but planning to get one
Hello, I would like to buy a xiaomi robot x20+ but I am deciding between roborock q revo s, does anyone have advice, experience, on dog hair and a lot of floors, which would be better thank you
Sounds like you own an Ecovacs, and you're crying it didn't win here. Sorry but Roborock cleaned and it navigates better than any ecovacs it's a simple fact.
I've read a comment that with the T20, the mops drag up the docking bay when docking (because they are down) , causing them to wet the floor around the dock, did you have that issue?

It's not worth the price at all for what it is going for. It uses VSLAM still, everyone else has moved one to LiDAR. Not to mention you can get a good mop + vacuum robot for close or a little higher than the S9.
