The Office of Naval Research Robotic Hull Bio-inspired Underwater Grooming tool, or HULL BUG, is similar in concept to an autonomous robotic home vacuum cleaner and uses a biofilm detector to differentiate between the clean and unclean surfaces of the hull of a ship.
