RobTop Is Taking Action. And Its So Good 

Reminder: "Robtop has the right" does not mean he's oblidged to do it.

to clear things up for people, none of the famous inactive users are going to be deleted, because it states that RobTop has the ABILITY and CHOICE to terminate/change user information after 180 days. Does not mean the accounts will be deleted immediately.

Maybe after 180 days Robtop can send an email saying account will be terminated in like 30 days or so (since you need an email to make an account). This reminds inactive users who want to keep their accounts to touch the game again rather than open the game one day to lose all their progress.

You do know the ToS is copy-pasted from a template tons of companies use, and there's a lot of things within the ToS itself which doesn't apply to Geometry Dash whatsoever. (eg. Section 4.1 - Purchases) where it talks about... virtual items implying Geometry Dash has micro-transactions? Of course none of what the ToS says will actually get enforced.

as soon as you mentioned the fact that robtop can terminate any account, my head immediately went "robtop i swear to god if you delete michiguns account you will turn your game from one of the most popular to one of the worst"

I have mixed feelings on this. Imagine someone loses a their only device or something like this and robtop terminates their account because they’ve been inactive? What if someone has an alt account with levels on it for collabs and that gets deleted?

I think this is not a great idea I stopped playing for around 3 years, and got back into GD fairly recently, and if I had lost my name, I would have been more than furious about that A much more reasonable thing to do is send emails once per month after 100 days to remind the user to confirm or not that they still want that name Some of those short names could be unique or special to some people Edit: It's also not fair on the part of RobTop to gives names to people HE thinks deserve it, it's favoritism to the highest degree and for a game dev, that's bad

I'm pretty sure this would be kinda bad for the GD players who died. Especially for their friends who want to look back at their levels.

I'm glad this feature wasn't added before, and I'm not too happy with it being added now. When I was young, I didn't get to control when I got to play video games and also sometimes my parents would delete games. I played GD (various GD apps) on and off throughout the years, and sometimes wouldn't be able to touch my account for years at a time before being able to play it again. Now I don't have such problems but I recently got bored of GD and might take a long break before playing again, and I hope I won't forget about this for over 6 months and get my account deleted as a result.

This thing with 180 days really concerns me cuz it somewhat forces you to enter the game to not get your account renamed/deactivated/removed... If it gets removed It would really kill my desire to get better at the game cuz what's the point if its will be removed after 180 days of inactivity cuz I couldn't enter the game for whatever reason. Deactivation is more reasonable option cuz you will not loose your progress. What about renaming an account? It's complicated, but I don't want to lose my nickname at all

I have an idea for accounts: can we have multiple accounts associated with each other, so you can switch between accounts without saving it to the servers? I'd be nice for people like Colon who have 3 accounts: Colon, RobsVault, and RobsBasement (idk if there is more). And you could switch between Xcreatorgoal, Ycreatorgoal, and Zcreatorgoal without online access too, so mobile players can access multiple accounts without internet access.

If someone stops using their acc in osu, “_old” will be put on their username to let someone else have the username

imo robtop should just introduce a system based on discriminators, like what discord used to have. It's much simpler, and I absolutely hate unique usernames.

Looking at some of the comments, i see people weren't paying attention If you're inactive for 180+ days, Rob has the right to delete your account IF NECESSARY. It won't be automatic. You can leave it for 5 years and he likely won't touch it, UNLESS he decides it's necessary, because that's his right

RobTop should make a “safe account” to keep the old names of the mods, so if the old accounts that had their names changed decide to come back, they can get their names back, and the mod goes back to their original one. It’s not fair to completely steal names of OG’s. Imagine finally getting back into a game you haven’t played in years, knowing you were a pioneer, actually getting active in the community only to know your nickname is now Hypno12345 lol. My nickname is Pusk. It’s not the most “stealable” name, but Ausk is scary enough for it.

180 days seem really low for complete termination for the reason of just inactivity, and it also seems really weird to change the names of people that did nothing wrong just so the moderators can get shorter names

This reminds me of the Mojang Microsoft account transition, lots of people without knowledge of what was happening lost their access to their account AND purchase of the game. It’s not likely Rob will be be going that hard (i doubt he will) but it just reminds of that situation

If the people who actually owned the original account want to log back in they can’t because the username won’t work… Plus the account system is so garbage it’s not like you can recover it with your email or something. The account system just needs an overhaul.

"you'll never seen anything like that in any other game" the reason why is because most games use different ways to handle, store, keep and delete users (and user data). As for robtop deleting users. either randomly or after 6 months, yea, that might bring another issue, lets say for example John creates his account today, plays a bunch of levels for a video and then goes inactive for like 7 years. Then after 7 years, John returns back to playing gd to see what was going on and what happened. Would that affect em or any person who only plays the game like a few days, then leaves the game, then comes back to the game to only realize everything got wiped or would the person save data would be fine?

I hope my old acc doesn't get terminated because it's my old acc with my old phone.If it was terminated, i have nothing too look and remember my old levels and others. What if my old phone just broked and got a new phone, so i may not log back in and my acc will definitely be inactive for too long. Deactivation is better in my opinion than just losing progress, but i still respect it.
